The Ugly Stick airframe is one of my favorites. Phil Kraft hit it out of the park with the design.
If you want that beep to go away when you move the throttle stick go into the “timer” settings and in the last page you’ll find timer stop timer start, turn those off. It might be different on an NX8 but that’s how it works on my DX8
I built one at home with fckn marshmallow sticks. İt's so hard but I hope final will be good. 🤝

Balsa always flies better. Once you get past the “Wow look at the lights they put on this!” Stage it becomes clear as day.

I've been holding off watching your video on this because I'd seen a review elsewhere, decided THIS was the first new plane I was going to buy in a very long time but, Horizon won't ship to Australia and I couldn't find anywhere that even could get 1. That was up till about 3 days ago when 1 of the reputable Australian hobby dealers allowed me to pre order one so, finally I felt I could watch another 1 about this great little model.
I really do not know what it is about a stick. They are such a primitive looking design and have a simple name to suit. I've got an old 1, hand built from scratch that a friend built to take a .46 glow fuel engine but when he flew it, he hated it so, I wound up with it, changed a hell of a lot, lightened it substantially then gave it 900 watts of electric motor and I loved it. It's still a lot heavier than these and about the same size but, with that power it is a blast, this I'm sure will be much better being designed for electric from the start and I can't wait to get it here, whenever that may be. So glad you loved it too, that confirms I've made the right choice.
BTW: He built the 1 I've got as a Red Baron scheme too lol.

I am a long way from rich, like loooooong way from it but $329 isn't to bad for a Balsa Bind and Fly. I have to save up for "Toys" I had to save up for every Firearm I own, for my Truck I like to modify and for RC's. Yeah things are more expensive nowadays, unfortunately. I believe this will be a dang good RC Airplane and soon as I get done saving for something else I will start to save for this.
I've got one and I agree it's a awesome plane! I put 4 inch bush wheels on mine since I fly at my house in the grass! I don't even need a 4 cell pack to have a blast with it and I put the next larger motor on mine cause I bought the arf version and added my own equipment that I already had instead of the BNF!! It's my smallest stick cause I've got a 40 size and a 20cc stick too!
I have one of the original Das Ugly Sticks, with the nose gear. Flew it with an Enya .45. It flew like a dream. You could do anything with it. I'am glad to see E-Flite coming out with this built up version. I'am from the old school days of Balsa. I would like to get one of the E Flite versions and put a nitro engine on it. Is there enough room up front behind the firewall to install a tank ? Thanks for the review Nate.
I have one that has lived a cursed life in my hands 😆 converted to electric a couple of years ago and had more luck, but still struggled with having enough elevator. Tree'd it a while back and have yet to rebuild it, but it does have some sentimental value so I hope to get to it one of these days.

What if you left the rudder where it is and added expo? Will that smooth it out?
BTW when you roll over at the top of the loop it is called a split S and if you get to a 45 degree downward angle and then roll over without going to the center of the figure 8 its call a Half a Cuban Eight.
Being that it is light weighted how good does it handle on windy days?

My use case is very different from yours - I do nothing but LR FPV - but your videos are still fascinating and quite useful to a guy like myself. My focuses are things like efficiency, landing characteristics and noise levels, and those are actually covered to some degree, even though they must have limited relevance to your own kind of flying. Small yes, but by far the most power per square inch BNF I’ve ever flown! This thing can climb vertical right out of your hand!! I really need to fly it more often 👍💯😎⚓️
That is a cool Stick! Im saving up for 3 new Crawlers for my Daughter, Girlfriend and me and while the SCX24's aren't to expensive I want to go ahead and throw all the Brass and Upgraded Links and new Wheels and Tires on them and get it over with 😅 But this is calling my name 🤣🤣🤣

You've certainly convinced me to purchase my first "foam" aircraft (Night Radian...bought through your channel). That being said...in my "previous" period of flying RC 15 years ago...I was all Balsa. I've always wanted a "Stick". I've actually got plans for a HUGE Gas Stick. At some point I might have to pick this one up (I say that so often...like for the LARGE Foam FW-190).

Now that’s the furthest thing from the truth that I’ve heard all year, and I want to thank you for the opportunity to tell you why this idea is incorrect! First of all, I truly DO believe this is currently the BEST flying thing on the market. However, I’d hope that if something better came out in the future, I’d be “allowed” to say it is better than this when that day comes!
I think though, that even more important is the idea that you believe we will say something is good, even if it was “free” and I’ve gotta laugh at that 😂😅 See, we show airplanes from this company, literally exploding on camera due to poor QC in the factory.. and all companies for that matter. But if that’s not good enough for you, let me end by saying this: If you think this airplane was free, let’s give you the opportunity to put your money where your mouth is. I’ll GIVe you this airplane, if you can do what we’ve done, which in your mind, is nothing because this was “free” right? Start a RUclips channel, and gain about 330,000 Subscribers in ten years or less. Once you’ve achieved this milestone, I’ll buy this airplane for you or something priced equally. There. My challenge to you is official, and public. Will you accept? Remember, it was free and you can easily get one too! You just have to work for it! ⚓️

FMS is better.
Eflight planes are painfully expensive for the average flyer to purchase. I just can't spend $250 to $350 on an airplane that could be trash after one bad decision. Make no mistake, their products are excellent, but one mistake and it's over.
RC flying has never been cheap. I paid about $300 several decades ago. With this plane, for $329 you get a fabricated and covered airframe, 4 servos installed, a receiver, an ESC and a motor. You can easily spend much more on an RC plane.
And yes, they crash.
That's an ugly plane tho! 😂
