This video made me break into tears. I personally had never had a pet in my life, but I KNOW FOR A FACT that any animal, pet or not, should be treated fairly. I had such a bad reaction to the content in this video that I lost my memory for a bit. I lost my mind. I put two and two together that two people that used to be in my life were like this in their own time, and I almost passed out from a panic attack. I was screaming on the top of my lungs, from the bottom of my stomach. I couldnt breathe. Ugliest cry I’ve had since my last loved one was killed. I had panic attacks, flashbacks, and a lot of rage for weeks after watching this video.

If it was after the Shane Dawson video, it might make sense. The issue is that everything else points to it being him.

I’ve witnessed, read, and listened to some pretty disgusting things in my life. Over time, I’ve gotten desensitized to most of these things, in that they don’t make me shudder and gag how they would’ve a few years ago. I vaguely knew of the situation with Kero, but this was the most in-depth explanation I’ve ever heard, and I had to sit outside for a while when it was over. In the most hateful tone I can muster: I’m downright impressed with what people are capable of.
Impressed is a poor choice of a word. I would've personally said "appalled, shocked, disgusted, etc." Anything with a negative connotation. That would definitely get the hateful tone across. I just can't imagine being impressed by such vile acts of cruelty.

I still find it surreal that Kero didn't even get jail time like the rest of his accomplices, and I think another groomer in that groupchat didn't even serve their sentence as well. I legit want someone like Nick Rekieta to cover the legal aspect of this, because it's something that's hard to believe when the evidence against them guarantees jail time.

I caught Toad McKinley's recap of the Zooier Than Thou podcast... which is exactly what it sounds like... they largely got away with it for as long as they did because not all states actually have laws on the books because this is obscure enough to pass through the cracks. Few dare associate their names with this crap and for good reason. It's tragic, but unfortunately sometimes you need a Kero in order for the laws to get written. Being reminded of this case and others like it will never *not* be heartbreaking. As an owner of two dogs and a couple more animals for several years now, I simply can't fathom how someone could turn on the creatures who love us and rely on us for camaraderie and survival to fulfill some of the most sickening desires one could possess. I watch a lot of disturbing documentaries and true crime, so I thought I was pretty desensitized by now. This is the first video in a while that's actually made me physically sick. I have no words vile enough to describe these people... I hate wishing violence upon others; all I'm gonna say is I truly hope they get what they deserve. I feel a strong urge to go and rescue a dog now just to make sure it doesn't end up with a monster like Kero.

During my life time I have had 2 dogs. My first dog came into my life when I was 6 years old and he was my best friend for the 14 years he lived. I gave him my entire heart and did everything in my power to keep him safe, even naïvely thinking something such as death wouldn’t come to him. Now, I have another dog. He is just a puppy and I love him just as much as my first, and I get to relive “puppy” moments that I completely forgot as a child. To me my dogs ARE family. Never could I ever imagine someone treating their pet or any animal in the way Kero and others have. It’s so mind boggling and disgusting. I am so glad my dogs were/ are with my family and not with these types of people. My puppy is sat on my lap, sleeping peacefully, and I am so thankful that he is somewhere where he is safe and loved correctly.
I also have a dog since I was 8. She sleeps in my room every night and when she was sick I tried my best to be there for her. Dogs are the purest and cutest animals out there. The thought of hurting my dog unwillingly is horrible… the thought of doing it intentionally is unbelievable. I never wish pain or death upon others… but these people, as well as child abusers, have no right seeing sunlight ever again.
I grew up with dogs. My mom already had Samantha, a rescue Border Collie, when I was a baby. Growing up, that dog hated me and my brother because we were just too chaotic for her when we were kids, always running around and being loud. 😅 Later, my uncle gave us his dog, Drake, because my uncle had his hands full juggling three young kids. Drake became mine and my brother’s constant companion. We made up this game called “hide and seek with Drake” where we’d take his favorite tennis ball and hide so he could find us. He always did. He was with us until we had to put him down when I was 14. He had cancer in his hips and we didn’t want him to suffer anymore. A few years before Drake’s death, we adopted a yellow Lab named Samson and a beagle poodle mix named Angel. The three of them became a legendary trio. We called them Homeward Bound 2.0. Both Samson and Angel were very distraught when Drake was put down. Samson lived until I was 19. We had to put him down because he was bleeding into his stomach. We never knew because he was always so cheerful. They couldn’t operate on Samson because he was too old. The anesthesia would have killed him. I took his death very hard. I considered him my boy. Angel wasn’t alone when he died, though. We adopted a mutt named Ginger and she became Angel’s shadow. Eventually, we had to put the old girl down in 2018 because she had heart failure. I mourned for my girl’s death but healing came in the form of Ginger and Eddie, our rescue German Shepherd. Dogs have always been my greatest companions. At times, it’s nice to talk to someone who can’t talk back. The fact that people do these atrocious acts makes me sick to my stomach. Dogs are one of the purest creatures on this planet. To abuse them like this should be a felony everywhere.
They see themselves as above zoosadists because they don't physically 'hurt' or kill animals for pleasure. You have to be extra messed up to be ostracized amongst other animal abusers.
I've never heard of anyone adopting a human from a human shelter exclusively to have sex with them, but okay, Sappho. I have heard of people buying humans from traffickers, though. Good job Sappho, you're still abusing animals even with your false equivalence

The problem with "weeding them out" is that it's impossible. The furry fandom is just as diverse as anime, so it's basically an umbrella term that covers an overarching theme with an endless amount of sub-spaces within it. Literally anyone can decide to be a furry for any reason and get lumped under the rest of the umbrella, regardless of whether the rest of us want them there or not. All we can do is what we've been doing, which is to call people like this out, try to get them arrested, and do whatever we can to ostracize them from the rest of the community. That's why zoo spaces tend to be much more isolated than any other sub-space in the fandom. None of us want them around.

I lost a lot when I left the fandom, a support system and I lost a lot of passion for my art afterwards, but I was very young back then and just felt very disturbed at some of the things that were going on at the time, ya know? I didn't quite know how to deal with those feelings so I just kinda dipped. I still vouch for the fandom to this day, its not like I completely lost my faith in it or whatever. I just stopped participating for a while. I'm a bit more active in the fandom now and l like consuming some of it's content here and there.
Hey, just wanna let you know: You weren't aware who he was, most people weren't. You can't blame yourself for it, you had no way of knowing, he seemed fine, from his older videos, I probably would have thought he was cool too. I’m an animal rescuer and rehabber. And I mean, yeah people can complain that I did it to myself by not “just turning it off” but. Geez. This changed my life forever. I’ve witnessed, read, and listened to some pretty disgusting things in my life. Over time, I’ve gotten desensitized to most of these things, in that they don’t make me shudder and gag how they would’ve a few years ago. I vaguely knew of the situation with Kero, but this was the most in-depth explanation I’ve ever heard, and I had to sit outside for a while when it was over. In the most hateful tone I can muster: I’m downright impressed with what people are capable of.

I watch a lot of disturbing documentaries and true crime, so I thought I was pretty desensitized by now. This is the first video in a while that's actually made me physically sick. I have no words vile enough to describe these people... I hate wishing violence upon others; all I'm gonna say is I truly hope they get what they deserve. During my life time I have had 2 dogs. My first dog came into my life when I was 6 years old and he was my best friend for the 14 years he lived. I gave him my entire heart and did everything in my power to keep him safe, even naïvely thinking something such as death wouldn’t come to him. Now, I have another dog. He is just a puppy and I love him just as much as my first, and I get to relive “puppy” moments that I completely forgot as a child. To me my dogs ARE family.
Never could I ever imagine someone treating their pet or any animal in the way Kero and others have. It’s so mind boggling and disgusting. I am so glad my dogs were/ are with my family and not with these types of people.
My puppy is sat on my lap, sleeping peacefully, and I am so thankful that he is somewhere where he is safe and loved correctly.
I also have a dog since I was 8. She sleeps in my room every night and when she was sick I tried my best to be there for her. Dogs are the purest and cutest animals out there. The thought of hurting my dog unwillingly is horrible… the thought of doing it intentionally is unbelievable.
I never wish pain or death upon others… but these people, as well as child abusers, have no right seeing sunlight ever again.
I grew up with dogs. My mom already had Samantha, a rescue Border Collie, when I was a baby. Growing up, that dog hated me and my brother because we were just too chaotic for her when we were kids, always running around and being loud. 😅
Later, my uncle gave us his dog, Drake, because my uncle had his hands full juggling three young kids. Drake became mine and my brother’s constant companion. We made up this game called “hide and seek with Drake” where we’d take his favorite tennis ball and hide so he could find us. He always did. He was with us until we had to put him down when I was 14. He had cancer in his hips and we didn’t want him to suffer anymore.
A few years before Drake’s death, we adopted a yellow Lab named Samson and a beagle poodle mix named Angel. The three of them became a legendary trio. We called them Homeward Bound 2.0. Both Samson and Angel were very distraught when Drake was put down.
Samson lived until I was 19. We had to put him down because he was bleeding into his stomach. We never knew because he was always so cheerful. They couldn’t operate on Samson because he was too old. The anesthesia would have killed him. I took his death very hard. I considered him my boy.
Angel wasn’t alone when he died, though. We adopted a mutt named Ginger and she became Angel’s shadow. Eventually, we had to put the old girl down in 2018 because she had heart failure. I mourned for my girl’s death but healing came in the form of Ginger and Eddie, our rescue German Shepherd.
Dogs have always been my greatest companions. At times, it’s nice to talk to someone who can’t talk back. The fact that people do these atrocious acts makes me sick to my stomach. Dogs are one of the purest creatures on this planet. To abuse them like this should be a felony everywhere.

The problem with "weeding them out" is that it's impossible. The furry fandom is just as diverse as anime, so it's basically an umbrella term that covers an overarching theme with an endless amount of sub-spaces within it. Literally anyone can decide to be a furry for any reason and get lumped under the rest of the umbrella, regardless of whether the rest of us want them there or not.
All we can do is what we've been doing, which is to call people like this out, try to get them arrested, and do whatever we can to ostracize them from the rest of the community. That's why zoo spaces tend to be much more isolated than any other sub-space in the fandom. None of us want them around.
i agree. its the fundamental issue with a subject/fandom that is both extremely diverse in content and completely self-defined. the best prevention for both the infiltration of these people, as well as the protection of animals, children, and other group members is community vigilance.

I left the fandom completely over this. I'd get made fun of at school and on social media, and still held my head up high, but Kero was the nail in the coffin. He literally is the living embodiment of the furry stereotype, and I literally couldn't stomach the fact I was following Kero, defended his name and furries in general only for him to turn out... like this. I remember being so happy to see him get a collab with bigger creators, shedding a good light on the fandom, only to be horrified to discover Kero's true colors. Thank you for covering this. :)

I lost a lot when I left the fandom, a support system and I lost a lot of passion for my art afterwards, but I was very young back then and just felt very disturbed at some of the things that were going on at the time, ya know? I didn't quite know how to deal with those feelings so I just kinda dipped. I still vouch for the fandom to this day, its not like I completely lost my faith in it or whatever. I just stopped participating for a while. I'm a bit more active in the fandom now and l like consuming some of it's content here and there.

This video is really good. And Kero fills me with absolute disgust along with his friends. To find out someone this horrible exists, it's truly disgusting.
