    I made this soup today and it was absolutely delicious! I made the mistake of using a 15- Bean soup mix and certain beans in the mix needed more time to cook than the others. But that being said, the seasonings were perfect and the instant potatoes were a great idea. Thank you so much!

    One of the many things I learned from Anthony Bourdain (RIP) was that the French traditionally thicken everything with potatoes. I just bought my 1st ever pressure cooker and can't wait to do ham & beans! I'm going to tackle Italian Beef, first, though. Fingers crossed! TY for your expertise, Chef!

    Well must tell you have never liked or made these beans, but my husband loves them. I used your recipe and except for having to to double the cook time for him it was a big hit. I even found myself thinking when tasting it that they weren't as bad as I thought. But no I did not eat them. Thanks for the very tasty recipe.

      I'm so glad you tried them and so glad he liked them! My husband and I are the same way about peanut butter… he loves it and I don't lol. The great thing about this recipe is it just takes much less time and effort than the usual way of cooking them. Plus, I love using my pressure cooker in the summer time… it keeps me from heating up the whole kitchen and the mess stays contained in the pressure cooker lol. Thanks so much for giving them a try!! ❤

    I would just like to add to any instant pot users. I have made this recipe 4 times now and I have found that I had to up the cook time to 30 to 32 minutes using an instant pot 6 quart. 25 minutes left my beans mostly, like 60%, tough. The additional time changed all that.

    • @CheritheChef
      @CheritheChef  Год назад

      Thanks for the tip Shawn! I have never had any issue with the bean setting which is 25 minutes but I do make sure to let it naturally release the steam for 10 minutes versus using a manual release. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment 😘

    • @shawnwilt7196
      @shawnwilt7196 Год назад +1

      @@CheritheChef I use the natural release as well. 10 to 13 minutes and using unlocked beans the only way mine turn out being soft buy not mushy is by adding the extra time. I made a batch yesterday and just for testing I did the 25 minute cook time and 10 minute natural release and the beans were about 70% (or more) still tough. I added another 8 minutes with another 10 minute natural release and they were sift but not mushy. It could be that there is a difference in the machines we are using. I think that I am going to go back to the soaking the beans for at least a few hours before use. I love your recipe though. It's very similar to how I made ham and bean soup in the slow cooker. You showed me how to get it done in a preasure cooker in way less time.

    Can you do everything like the recipe but increase the amount of beans? I usually do the overnight pre-soak method with 3 cups of great northern beans. Gonna try your recipe and love the idea of a packet of Idahoan!

    • @CheritheChef
      @CheritheChef  4 года назад +1

      I would say if you increase the beans, you will want to increase the amount of liquid you use as well. The way I made it fills my quick cooker completely. So if you add more you would need a bigger cooking vessel. I think mine is 6 qt. Hope this helps! Thanks so much for the question and for the watch! ❤️

      Very welcome 😘 did they turn out perfect?? Wish I would have had a pressure cooker a long time ago...this method is my absolute fav for cooking dried beans!! If you liked this recipe next time you make chili, Set your pressure cooker to sear.. Brown your meat and reserve drippings. Add enough flour to the inner pot so that is absorbs all the drippings. Quickly whisk in beef stock and your chili seasonings. Bring to a boil and press cancel. Stir in diced tomatoes, chopped onion your choice of dried beans. Set cooker to high 25 min. Natural release. Let rest 15 min. ENJOY!! 😋

    • @CheritheChef
      @CheritheChef  Год назад +1

      Great questions Shawn! I believe the potatoes are a 4 oz package and the bean setting is 25 minutes on high. I hope that helps. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! 😘

    • @CheritheChef
      @CheritheChef  Год назад

      To add to that, I would suggest using your pressure cooker on custom, setting it to high and starting with 25 minutes. You can always add or subtract time to get the beans to your individual liking once you know how they come out after 25 minutes. 😊

    • @CheritheChef
      @CheritheChef  2 года назад +1

      Since beans in a jar are already cooked, there's no need to pressure cook them. You can make it using beans from a jar by cooking everything in a pot on the stove and adding the beans in last (make sure to rinse them) and then heat everything through. Thanks so much for your question 🙂

    white beans in 30 minutes? took 3 hours for red beans in instant pot.

    • @CheritheChef
      @CheritheChef  2 года назад +1

      First, I'd like to say.. Yes! My beans cook in 25 minutes. If I'm being honest.. it takes 10 minutes for the pressure cooker to come up to pressure so, in all, I would say about 35 minutes. But still, quite a big difference from soaking them overnight and/or boiling them on the stove. Secondly, I would like to say..
      Coking times will vary with quality, amount, type and freshness of the beans. And while I believe what you're saying is true it, it should take no where near 3 hours for beans in an instant pot/pressure cooker. I would double check to make sure that your settings are correct and that your instant pot is working properly
      3rd and most importantly...
      I would like to say thank you for watching and thank you for taking the time to comment. It means a lot! Happy Holidays! 😘
