I've had my Bareknuckle about a month now. Absolutely love it. Looks great. Feels great. Works great. The RAT is great too. I have the 1 in foliage green. Got it for $23. Can't beat it at that price
I love the manix LW but we need a cqi version that can be taken apart. They were able to obtain this with the pm3LW. My beater is cold steel broken skull
For me a beater knife is used when I use it I expect to damage the blade or quickly dull the edge. My favorite beater is the Cold Steel Tuff Lite that I carry in my tool bag, love the ergonomics, I keep it hair popping sharp and clean. I would buy this folder in premium materials. I agree with you liking the Manix over the PM2.
I was at lowes and I found my new favorite beater it's the crescent harpoon, d2 steel ball bearings in the pivot and aluminum scales, liner lock and a deep carry pocket clip
Great video Bryan! I was literally flipping my new RAT 1 as you were going down the list. I was just waiting to see it! For a user I'm also really digging the new Brigand. You probably won't like how thin the tip is but it sure does slice. First Civivi I've had that actually completely drops shut.
Solid list. I prefer the American Lawman to the Code 4, the Code 4 is a little slick for me and I appreciate the grip options on the Lamwan. Both very good knives though. I still love my backlash too :) Been carrying my orange R2 a lot this month (aus8), great knife. If you're going to include higher end beaters/users, I would have def. included the Hogue Ritter. Thanks for the vid man.
Wow nice beaters. I'm more of a traditional knife guy so If I had a knife costing $375.00 it would be a safe queen lol, seriously. Cool perspectives from the modern folders viewpoint, thank you.
My beaters are my most carried ever day blades. Sage 2 5 days a week, ZT-0562 on weekends. The 562 looks the part, someone really screwed up on the sharpening. On top of that I often have a Ruike 801 or Firebird FH-21 or Squid if I'm really doing something stupid.
RealSteel T101 Thor, special edition or not. Grippy, sick flipping action, and it's also got that super smooth hydraulic opening. Closing is legit the most dropshutty of any knife I own. Good to excellent finishing quality. Solid hardened screws. And the price. Wow. It's a real steal. badum tiss.
Great list. Have had my hands on most of them. Knife Center has the Cru-Wear Manix in stock for $130. Checked just minutes ago. I would buy one if I didn't already have one. Two new beaters for me that are really quite a value, Spyderco Cat and the Byrd Crow, both in Carpenter BD1. When I got into knives 2 years ago, I shied away from BD1. Can't believe I was so naive.
I own the Manix 2 lightweight blue version with CTS-BD1 steel ,great steel I only needed to touch up the blade now and then easy to keep sharp , I never had to fully sharpen the edge. My only complaint is that the lock with spring gets dirty and clogged up and you cannot take this version apart to clean it, So that is a problem with this design on all versions of the Manix 2. I prefer the lock back for a folder because it is the strongest lock ,I know many do not like it but I do on The Spyderco Native Chief , Dragonfly and other knives. I have the Byrd Meadowlark 2 FRN and I like the 8Cr13 steel it is no problem for me and is easy to touch up or sharpen. The Byrd knives are a great value and good quality. I carry a small fixed blade GEC H110 or other small fixed blade for reliability and a folder as a backup knife. The GEC #H30 and #H40119 Hunter fixed blade is a great EDC and field knife .
Bryan, great video as always, man! For me, the knives I think of as good beaters, are the Steel Will Modus models in D2, my Buck Inertia in 154CM, as well as my Kershaw Link in M390! I have the Manix 2 LW in blurple and its great too. I am still looking to add the Bareknuckle to my collection, also.
Great video of users. FYI-Walmart in Ithaca stopped selling knives! They did have multi-tools on the counter display and Machetes in plastic in the aisles.LOL
Have to say great list and no denying number 1. The RAT 1 and RAT 2 have been it for a long time and probably will be in the future. However I didn't see you mention them CJRB has a line of great knives. Artisans on a budget.
That is good. I’m not sure I should have a knife I’m afraid to use, although that is an idea I take into consideration when I buy a knife. However, putting it into practice is a little bit harder...lol. But like you, I really like Civivi knives for both their quality and value. There are a bunch of them, but I’m still always checking for the next new model. Any brand new ones on their way?
I agree I am liking the manix 2 over the pm2 ergos to length the blade shape on manix2 is much better then pm2 and I do love pm2 but manix is my new pm2
Tangram Orion is my favorite beater. 440c acuto steel. Lil softer than d2 but gets just as sharp. Ands only $31. On Amazon. Kizer budget brand. Great brand. Got 5 or 6 nice models. U know
None of these beaters look like they have seen much use. Either you take fantastic care of your knives or these things are as robust as you say. 👍🏼 Love the content!
I think the SG SpiderMonkey is such a sadly underrated knife. I've hardly carried anything else since I got it. It is a tiny bit pricey, admittedly, but I agree with you it's such a well built knife. I'm concerned more about losing it than ever breaking it. The only thing that's really replaced it at all in my pocket is an Ultramar Redencion I got more recently, so I'm sure you can understand that had to get some pocket time haha. I'm going to have to try out one of those Bareknuckles and the Baklash now. I just got a Dividend because they were on sale and I love it, but I do prefer the 14C28N from my time spent with Leeks, which I didn't realize the Bareknuckle was sporting. I love that Kershaw does the hollow grind, too. That's just the best. But .0013 BTE on the Baklash??? Didn't know that either!! Definitely need to give that a try as well. Thanks for an awesome and informative vid!
Hey Brian great video.. Off subject here just wondering if you ever fixed your Para 3 centering issue? I still can't figure mine out. It's about 2mm away from touching the scales. 🤪
I've been debating about getting a Bareknuckle, do my eyes deceive me, or is there a re-curve towards the tip? Also, I picked up a CJRB Centros not too long ago, and man its quickly becoming my favourite beater knife.
Manix is an amazing knife, the Sprints are great and keep it interesting. Code four is also way underrated, its as tough as nails, and carries great for a longer knife. Interestingly enough Gerald at outpost 76 and SSSteve prove the Rat Aus 8 outcut Ontarios D2....... GB2 is also a wicked worker for the money. M4 is also overlooked, but it shouldn't be ..... thanks again, GREAT vid Bryan, but you did leave out the beloved Lawman, EDC of doom )-;
Love the selections but if you got work to do the rats are still king. Don't know how they get the action so smooth on washers its unbelievable. Thanks, harry
I don't really get the hype for the Spydie Manix 2? Coming from the Dragonfly 2 and Native 5 the lock seems kind of gimmicky... But I guess the feel is somewhat similar to an axis lock maybe?
Hi Brian, watched your STAND-UP video, then this. It's been an entertaining 40 minutes of you. Would have loved to have heard those couple of jokes you forgot to tell. You were terrific up there. Anyway, I dig your beater collection. I noticed the ZT-0562(Ti) made it in. That was the folder that kicked off my knife collecting hobby. QUESTION: I am so curious why people don't talk about the ZT-0220 much at all. Same blade shape as the 0562, it's S35VN instead of CPM-20CV - no big there. But in ways I believe the ZT-0220 superior to the 0562: (1) the ZT-0220 fills your hand better, it's a bit heavier in a nice way and it is the same overall length as the ZT-0562 and (2) the ZT-0220 has this cool forward choil that does not sacrifice edge length. But nobody mentions the ZT-0220 as though it has some ugly, unspoken history. If there is something really sucky about the 0220, please let me know. Thanks. John
Awesome video I have most these knives and they are great knives except cold steel code4 I’m going to buy it next week love the honey badger I have the Choil aw man you just had to pull out the Chavez I want one sooo bad I will buy one for sure next month.awwww man this is crazy buying the back lash this weekend.i want that monkey.its badass I think we have same style or both like the same great knives. I love this video 👍🏻
mr. jinks I know I’ve got to hold many but I want the 229 STREET not sure of handle material maybe micarta the backlash I’ve held as well I’m definitely buying now lol.peace
Every knife I own is a beater if that means I am not afraid to use it. Why have it otherwise? I can always bring it back by sharpening it. Some of my more expensive knives really do not get pocket time but only because they don't fit in my everyday carry.
All my knifes, like my firearms are users. No safe queens. Could you imagine having a 400$ wrench and being scared to turn a bolt because you dont wanna scratch your tool.
I've had my Bareknuckle about a month now. Absolutely love it. Looks great. Feels great. Works great. The RAT is great too. I have the 1 in foliage green. Got it for $23. Can't beat it at that price
I wish they would release the RATS other steels...I LOVE THEM.
Finally near the end, some of the GOAT beaters: The Ontario Rat series. Good vid, as usual.
I love the manix LW but we need a cqi version that can be taken apart. They were able to obtain this with the pm3LW. My beater is cold steel broken skull
For me a beater knife is used when I use it I expect to damage the blade or quickly dull the edge. Hiker Marapese just got a tuff lite
I like the tuff lite wish it had a flipper tab or something
👍👍! BM 940-2 is my current favorite beater.
Manix2, Manix2 XL and my PMP Revenge are my best beaters! Love that ZT. Great vid
I gave my nonknifeguy brother a r2d2 as his first knife..... I miss it very much. Think I'll try the model 1 this time around.
My EDC is a RAT 2 so I agree....LOL...Nice list of knives as love it....Good stuff....
12:25 my favorite comment out of any knife video by far
Great video buddy. Always tuning in when I can.
I was at lowes and I found my new favorite beater it's the crescent harpoon, d2 steel ball bearings in the pivot and aluminum scales, liner lock and a deep carry pocket clip

I love my medium Honeybadger as a great beater. It’s tough and has a big enough blade to cut fish up or a stuck anchor rope.
I love the look of the grind on that Chavez.
Some great choices in there.... I bookmarked some for the future I had forgotten about, thanks.
I love my Rat 1 and 2 in D2. They're my favorite beaters. I need to try a Bareknuckle. Looks sweet. Great vid.
I own a few of these and the code 4 gets my vote.
I love my Kershaw Link in M390. Its my go to for work almost everyday.
I love my Harrier 2

Rat series is my choice.. they are so good. 👍👍👍👍

I've had my manix 2 lightweight for a few years now and I've carried it every day since.
I own the Manix 2 lightweight blue version with CTS-BD1 steel ,great steel I only needed to touch up the blade now and then easy to keep sharp , I never had to fully sharpen the edge. Have a Damascus civivi backlash and often take it to work, people love the look and I won’t mind actually using it for less than 100 bucks!
Great video of users. FYI-Walmart in Ithaca stopped selling knives! They did have multi-tools on the counter display and Machetes in plastic in the aisles.LOL
I have a couple- the kershaw link M390. The kizer kesmec. And just got the Benchmade contego M390, so maybe that one too.
Rat 2 me 2!
Great choices. 👍👍

Gerber Evo. Tough, easy to put on a working edge, don't care if I break it (haven't yet, surprisingly).
I enjoyed this. First time viewer. New subscriber!

Wanted to get my son in law a knife for his birthday. Rat 1 baby!
Good list !!
PM2 Cruwear, Para3 Maxamet, Gayle Bradley 2 and Advocate, reground SOCOM Elite, reground ZT 0462, reground ZT 0470. Real beatings call for the SG2 Endura or, finally the Ganzo FH41.
Tangram Orion is my favorite beater. 440c acuto steel. Lil softer than d2 but gets just as sharp. Ands only $31. On Amazon. Kizer budget brand. Great brand. Got 5 or 6 nice models. U know

They appear on camera. I take care of them.
@@SliceyDicey They look great. Keep up the good work. Big fan.
Ultimate beater…Cold Steel 4 Max Elite. 4” of S35VN and titanium / G10 goodness. ☺️👌🏻

I love this kind of video. Do you know if the Spyderco blade will fit in the equivalent Byrd body? Thank you!
Don’t think so.
Hey Brian great video.. Off subject here just wondering if you ever fixed your Para 3 centering issue? I still can't figure mine out. It's about 2mm away from touching the scales. 🤪
Nice vid slice!!!
That's a strong list and I dont think anyone can argue with any of those.
Just realized you're from upstate when I heard you say bike. Live in southern Indiana rn, and my cny/north country accent stands out so bad
Ruike P801 is my favorite beater. I trash a lot of ganzos, but I enjoy using the Ruike. Cool video. Thanks.
That's a great one
Sog terminus xr.. the s35vn flavor is my daily beater
My mannix 2 lightweight access lock sticks and is kind of hard to function, any suggestions?
I've been debating about getting a Bareknuckle, do my eyes deceive me, or is there a re-curve towards the tip? Also, I picked up a CJRB Centros not too long ago, and man its quickly becoming my favourite beater knife.

I was kinda shocked it didn’t make the list.
Love the selections but if you got work to do the rats are still king. Don't know how they get the action so smooth on washers its unbelievable. Thanks, harry
The "secret" is Teflon. Its incredibly slippery.
Can never go wrong with an OKC RAT!
I don't really get the hype for the Spydie Manix 2? Coming from the Dragonfly 2 and Native 5 the lock seems kind of gimmicky... But I guess the feel is somewhat similar to an axis lock maybe?
Mostly its the ergonomics.
Superb Vid 👍🍪

You won't believe the grind on the Chaves when you get it. Best I've seen. And the baklash is my favorite sub $50 knife. Enjoy!
mr. jinks I know I’ve got to hold many but I want the 229 STREET not sure of handle material maybe micarta the backlash I’ve held as well I’m definitely buying now lol.peace
AMERICAN LAW MAN
Why did they pick the Polestar to be in BD1? Spyderco is screwy sometimes
My favorite beater knife is my spyderco military 2 because it’s the least favorite knife I own
Any pros/cons on code 4 over recon 1?
Carmine Trento personal preference. Really depends if you want g10 or aluminum scales.
Eveytime I try to carry a expensive beater I loose them lost two about 500-600 all up :(
I’m sure I’m not the first to ponder this but... can you throw an Endura blade into a cara cara grip frame?
Pretty sure no.
Every knife I own is a beater if that means I am not afraid to use it. Why have it otherwise? I can always bring it back by sharpening it. Some of my more expensive knives really do not get pocket time but only because they don't fit in my everyday carry.
Microtech Socom Elite manual tanto m390

940-2
10 “beater knives” that look essentially brand new ........ ?
I apologize for taking care of stuff and having a lot of knives.
In his definition of beater all knives are beaters
You prefer 9cr to D2?! Why?
Easier to sharpen. Doesn't rust as easily.
@@SliceyDicey okay fair enough.
Where the heck is the night rider in this list?
Broken
Slicey Dicey 🤣
Hehe Wegnar
Just a coincidence that no Benchmade’s made the cut?
Yeah. Just a coincidence. Love me some Benchmade. 940 probably could have.
Good stuff. Might have to break out my R2D2
I'm sure the RAT is a great user. But man something about the design I really cannot like.
where are the knives with the ergos, ergos, ergos! ( in Valley Girl Voice) is this drunk AF or what?
