"Recover Your Soul" is a glorious ballad sung beautifully by Elton. It's a huge favourite of mine. Plus the interview was great - I love Elton's wicked sense of humour.
i'm nowhere near Elton's biggest fan but I know one thing - before you bash the guy for whatever reason, go raise $450 million for your fav charity - then come back and tell us what you don't like about the guy
@@preesi1403 yeah, probably nobody in these particular comments, but he certainly has his critics, a lot of it centering around his personal life these days it seems, and he's the first to admit that over the years he's been a nightmare to deal with on many occasions
The same could be said about Jimmy Saville, although in his case he didn't start fundraising because he thought there'd be a risk of himself catching something
There was a lot of lip-synching on the TV in until the mid/late 90s. There used to be a MU ruling that if you wanted to sing live you had to re-record your own song to create a new backing track or play live with other session musicians, Who could be bothered to do that when neither would actually sound like the song you are trying to promote?
Those commenting about lip-syncing need to realise this is dramatised for Television. It is a nice studio song, but not “live”, there wouldn’t be the budget for all the gadgetry involved, no doubt. In fact, many performances I’ve done are done long before the editors do their splicing!
But why does it need to be "dramatized for TV"? Of all the musicians in the world, Elton John would seem to be one of the most capable of just sitting down and playing and singing and being AMAZING. We''ve seen him do it many times as part of interviews, including the one where he sang "Daniel" during one of the James Lipton interviews. Since reading his book, I've been watching his many live performances available on RUclips and I found this not even worth watching by comparison. When I realized he was lip syncing I stopped to read the comments...
@@epona9166 Its simply an advertising stunt to promote the song/CD/Record. It’s done a lot so that it sounds exactly like the version you’re going out to buy......... which makes you go out and buy it! (And he has the gall to criticise Madonna for doing exactly this!)
I was surprised by the lip syncing too. I think this was the first series of Parky’s comeback. I saw McCartney on his show in 99 and there was no lip syncing. Anyway, excellent interview.
You can tell by looking at the way he's singing and playing the piano, he normally sings into the microphone and the microphone is ages away from him, (the track is the exact same as the music video and hes not actually playing live, after it he looks a little nervous as well@@smartiboo
It´s a paradox that he always criticized lip-synching so hard and still does it a few times, like here. Yep, the micro is not only "miles away" from him but also clearly to one side of him, to his right shoulder. It seems to me that in here he even missed the first "Let´s recover" opening the song...I am no piano-player, but even the way he plays the piano here sounds too smooth for the way he normally plays it and makes it sound. It seems as if they had all those cables connecting the piano with the loudspeakers switched of or something. And the bass and all those other instruments heard during the song?... Well, there are people who only lip-sync every time that they sing, while professionals like Elton only do it a few times only, so let's spare him about this then... Beautiful, beautiful song, anyway. One of Elton´s noblest songs alongside "The One, Live like Horses, Can you feel the love tonight, The Last Song, Friends never say goodbye, Original sin, Believe"... Impossible to pick just one.
I know he's gay but I would marry him.Successful,genius, talented, vulnerable,funny,Rich, extravagant,loves shopping,sexy (especially in 70s and 80s) ..
I don't think he cared tbh and he knew he was doing it 😂 but yeah he probs got forced cos Elton hates it and has always held predjudice towards artists that did lip sync in concert
It is a shame to see the great Elton lip syncing as he is one of the greatest live singers you will ever see and that has always been the case. Great interview of course.

Totally agree
What a beautiful song as always.
Love his singing voice in this period!
The best voice
Me too.
Yeah, especially 97, prob his best year
He's lip synching here

Charities lol .. ok
Who is bashing Elton John???

Elton has great banter
I luv u Uncle Eltie!
Just love him.
Adoro questa canzone❤
wow i love the song
You can always tell when he’s lip syncing cos the microphone is miles away from his mouth! Usually he’s “kissing” the mic...

That and comparing the official audio of the song with it.
@Falcon Well how come you can hear drums, guitar, and other instruments in the background but there is nobody playing them. This is lip-synced.
@Falcon Yes, I have
@Falcon The volume of his voice sounds the same from when he's "Miles away from the mic" to just Centimeters. It's lip-synced.

Ryan White gave his life to save Elton’s life…
Elton has more hair at each interview he does with Parkinson. Everyone else has less hair.
You don't realise he's wearing a wig?
I am so curious who he loved in 1975 because he says that in many intervieuws. I hope he doesn't mean john reid :d
どうしよう💦本当に好きになりました。

Show them wicked your power dear Lord!

Not often you see Elton miming either. Kinda obvious though with the first song.
Name of song plz?🤩
Recover Your Soul from The Big Picture album
アップ ありがとうございます!1998年わ 私にとりまして 大切な 年に なりました。

Gotta admit, that's a pretty convincing wig. I wonder how much he paid for it, and how hard it would be to yank off.
That’s because it was a weave. Try to yank that off and you’d be in deep trouble.
I thought he detested “lip singers”
He detests lip syncers who do it live in concerts where people pay to watch them.
Elton John sure does look like the young Chuck Norris.

Elton John would’ve made a great Doc Oc
At least he never went grey.
Ele estava achando graça de ter de dublar ele mesmo...como fez quando adolescente..kk
viewed now, 3 out of the 4 are knights.
I suspect that Elton was lip sinking in this video.
it's the year 1998, Parkinson, I don't undderstand why has to do lip sync????? He never did lip sync on Parkinson
He lip synched to I want love on Parkinson a few years later as well
He could of sat in line with the microphone 🎤 to make the lip sinking more convincing lol
I don't think he cared tbh and he knew he was doing it 😂 but yeah he probs got forced cos Elton hates it and has always held predjudice towards artists that did lip sync in concert
Who would downvote this video???
People who are making a big song & dance about lip syncing. SMH
@Karen DeGenerous Appalling.
Assholes
no good album since 1974
Thumbs down as I don't like seeing Elton lip sync.
Well, that’s silly because it’s such a great interview.
It is a shame to see the great Elton lip syncing as he is one of the greatest live singers you will ever see and that has always been the case. Great interview of course.
For his standards, a very forgettable song.
Biggest lip sync ever
What does that mean?
No
