    Hey everyone, welcome back!
    In this video, I speak about the topic of platonic friendships between males and females. Nowadays, there is an ongoing discussion about whether such friendships can truly exist without evolving into something more. Interestingly, many women passionately advocate for the possibility of these relationships. Throughout my adult life, I have noticed that even if men have strong feelings for women, they often accept being friendzoned in the hopes of potentially transitioning into a romantic connection one day. Naturally, the attention women receive from these men can be gratifying, and it comes without any expectations in return. Unlike traditional relationships, where women often receive attention from men in exchange for intimacy, these friendships offer validation to women without any reciprocal obligations.
    In the video, I discuss friendships between colleagues and their realistic potential for existence. From my perspective, I strongly believe in the importance of treating this topic with the utmost seriousness and careful consideration, regardless of whether you are a man or a woman.
    Please note that the opinions I express in this video are solely my own, based on my personal experiences, and these opinions may be subjective and influenced by my own biases. :)
    Thank you for watching!

    Yes, Fuad!! Excellent points… Every single one of them! I love your videos . If I had not retired from teaching Sociology and Marriage & Family I would definitely show them in my classes.
    I also want to thank you for being honest about the issue of homosexuality. I think that is concern many people have but they are afraid to voice it.

    When you’ve studied together and meet outside in a group setting, I would be okay with that. But when he has a lot of female friends or is meeting them alone/at home this is a red flag to me

    I agree with this to a certain point. I’m an American married to a Middle Eastern man. He don’t have female friends “bcz” he’s married but he don’t have a problem with my friends, male or female. Yes, his family is very traditional. It’s been 6 years and he’s learned to accept my culture as I’ve accepted his. We don’t require each other to live by each other’s cultural or religious dictates.

    5:17 Wait, what?! I’m confused with what you’re trying to say there. LOL, if her friend is gay it would mean nothing like that would be nothing happening between the two!
    A lot of women like having gay male friends because they feel safe being near someone who is physically stronger than them who they know won’t make unwanted advances towards them, especially out in public. Plus a lot of gay men end up with female friends because they often have similar interests and vice versa.

    • @Fuadtalks
      @Fuadtalks  Год назад +3

      Hey there! I totally get your point.
      It's just weird to me, you know? The man is physically strong as a straight man, with male biological traits. The only difference is that he identifies and acts as a woman. I understand he is interested in men only, but the women who consider him their friend are straight, just as you mentioned. It's interesting because the trait you pointed out, physical strength, is typically associated with masculinity. I'm not using your words against you, just observing.
      I personally find it weird. Imagine seeing your man hanging out with a good-looking lesbian girl who is smoking hot, like a perfect 10/10. Wouldn't that bother you? Wouldn't you think that your man might find her attractive, regardless of her sexual orientation, even after confirming she is a lesbian?
      If I see a lesbian woman who is attractive and identifies as lesbian, interested in women only, I would still perceive her as a woman, regardless of her sexual orientation and how she identifies herself.
      Of course, this is just how I view it, and I respect your point of view as well.

    • @potts995
      @potts995 Год назад +2

      @@Fuadtalks I'm not a woman, so I can't relate to the point on lesbians, LOL. I certainly don't know many gay men who wouldn't trust their partners around attractive people of the opposite sex, so I guess the dynamic is just different for them. I'm very much of the opinion that sexual orientation is biologically fixed and determined at or near birth. Some evidence suggests that women might be more predisposed to be bisexual, but for men it's usually set in stone.
      There's a difference between sexual orientation and gender identity, at least in Western cultures. My understanding is the two are _usually_ not correlated, though there may be some overlap. Most gay men don't identify as women, beyond I guess what people in many Arab cultures might consider to be a submissive role. Ultimately at the end of the day, men are generally predisposed to be stronger than women biologically, in many ways it is actually unhealthy for women to build muscular bodies.
      Regardless, there are many gay men who don't embody traits that people would consider to be feminine. I've always wondered if it's a possibility some gay men might conform to feminine traits so that they can increase their odds of finding a same-sex partner. Nonetheless, there are always gay men who might do the opposite approach and try to appear hypermasculine.

    • @Fuadtalks
      @Fuadtalks  Год назад +4

      Hey there, great question! I don't think you will be judged for that since he is your brother. I don't see an issue with it as long as you maintain your feminine frame, and his masculine presence and energy don't affect your behavior and attitude. Just as a side note, in Islamic teachings, we are advised to separate brothers and sisters in the place where they sleep, just as a preventive measure.

Its stiring the emotion....... He still denied and said it is just a platonic friendship.... Yes its complicated and a matter of time either one or both will end up in having an emotional affair??? 🤔 Just to cut short the story.

    Please can I ask how do you act with men you don't know? One time we were eating in a restaurant in his country and a lot of men stared at me (I am blonde) including the waiter. I know I was dressed modest enough apart from no veil. I was with my man and he didn't notice but I wasn't sure when I made eye contact with the men would it have been ok to smile? They just kept staring- whereas in my culture if a man makes eye contact with you like that and you dont smile they look away quickly. Also in the airport alone men keep approaching me or staring- one guy I brought water from and used three words of arabic and he stared at me for hours and even said goodbye when my gate opened. I try and be polite, but sometimes I am worried about how polite to be with men I don't know. I want to be polite but not insinuate anything.
    Sometimes I feel silly asking about culture but I also want to act appropriately.

      Usually a friendly but reserved approach generally works well. In some places, I'd recommend having some company... it's better to avoid going out solo. Especially if you look like a tourist. Men might get different ideas, but it also depends on the country you're in. :) In many Middle Eastern countries today, things aren't very different from any Western country.
