Hey Ryan! Great flight review mate you definitely have my thumbs 👍 I’m so excited for more food reviews and flight reviews your channel is amazing it’s raw not scripted keep up the good work… love from your Qantas employe 😂❤
As a kid I remember being offered lollies on AirNZ flights. Just wonderful. Wellington airport does look beautiful. Shame about the delay that mountain looked serene.
Hi Ryan, I was on a plane like that in 2006, going Timaru to Wellington, I had my head in a bag most of the way. It was so windy coming up the coast and landing in wgtn. I was ongoing to Tauranga. It took 4 hours for my stomach to settle enough so I could eat 😅. Loving your channel. 🙏💙
great report! Even though I'm an Aussie, my favourite airline is Air New Zealand! On an Air NZ flight to SFO, the crew helped me when I proposed marriage in flight to my now husband! Invercargill was the first city I stayed in New Zealand when I was like 18, so a looong time ago. Keep up the good work.... kite koe
Awwwwww.... That's sounds amazing! Funny story, when my husband proposed he did not know I was sick with food poisoning. When he popped the question along the streets of Adelaide (after I refused to walk by the river) I threw up. 🤣
@@josephphillips9243 haha it was a great story to share during our thank you speech to our guests at the wedding. But man I was really so sick that night... Went home with fever, sitting in the toilet pooping and vomiting at the same time.
Great review as usual! Perhaps it may be good to consider an esim like Airlo? I had a similar issue when going to NZ and agree with you about the cab charges… outrageous!
Air New Zealand have some unbelievable domestic routes. I took Auckland to Rotorua back in 2015 I think it was and I swear at one point you could see both sides of the country on either side of the plane which I think was smaller than the Dash 8 you took because in my memory it was only one seat one side and two on the other. i wish i had been vlogging back then. one bad event at one airport has the power to disrupt everything doesnt it? Hopefully the room service meal didn't bankrupt you! great vid as always!
I wonder if you flew a Beechcraft on one of their subsidiaries. That aircraft was grounded and retired in the mid 2010s. I do want to return to fly again. They also do have some interesting airlines too besides Air NZ.
Great video Ryan, really enjoy watching your travels.. Major delays throw everything out, glad you still got out to Invercargill. My last trip from Queenstown to Melbourne almost didn’t happen. The incoming flight was delayed just before curfew & we were lined up ready to board straight away as people were getting off. Told by ground staff we must board quickly & the pilot informed us if we hadn’t taken off by 10pm the flight would be cancelled & we would have to get off plans due to the strict evening curfew. The pilot took off at 9.59… Yes I also found NZ food expensive.. safe travels, looking forward to the next video..
Wow... That's insane! I was once caught in a SYD curfew too where a technical fault with my KUL-SYD flight saw us divert to MEL. We got put up at hotels courtesy of the airline, then continued our journey the next day.
Nah, I wanted to take the train from start to end for the full experience. That's why I started from Strand. That video will be published at some point. 😏
I said it before, I'll say it again... Always pack enough food for an army if flying domestic because it's a hell of a lot cheaper. A day of flying (a few hours or so) can take all day with travel to/from the airport and airport waiting times (the timetables do not mesh plus any kind of delay is not small)... and there is nowhere when you finally get to your destination to get food. Hamilton is a Regional travel dead-end because there are no flights Auckland-Hamilton. The Air NZ Regional 'Notwork' has a lot of strange dead ends because Air NZ killed them off. Travellers booking need to be really careful. It may seem obvious that two cities with airports would be connected... but they aren't.
I can see the frustration of the Hamilton dead end. Suppose that's why we've got the Te Huia? Man, that train was rough as 😅... You'll find out in good time. Yeah I was so absolutely famished on the second flight thought I was going to faint. Suppose it's a good thing I planned that long transit because it would've been tight with the delayed HLZ-WLG flight.
@@josephphillips9243 yeah lesson learnt. As this was my first time flying domestic within NZ, now I know. Thankfully the hotel was smart enough to be tracking the delayed flight. There were 4 of us from that flight staying at there so the reception asked the kitchen to remain open till we arrived. Our room service orders were taken as we were checking in and pretty much arrived soon after we settled into the room. How's that for service? 👍
Thanks man... Google and RUclips helped me with the pronunciation and I practiced umpteenth times before I felt confident enough to record it! Hahahaha ... Yes, I stayed at the airport hotel when I got back to Auckland and thought I could have an affordable meal at the food court at Auckland airport. The cheapest thing there was 4 pieces of small fried chicken pieces at KFC for $10. 😮 I then ate a bowl of Japanese rice bowl with chicken, with a drink for $37. What the hell...
@@rachkate76 tbh, I found Darwin pretty alright. About the same as Perth, price wise. But picture this in NZ... I stayed at the airport hotel and headed to the food court at the airport thinking it'll be cheap. A bowl of Japanese chicken rice with a drink came up to $37. I'm a born & bred Kiwi but we are experts at ripping off our own kind & our international visitors as well. As for Air NZ & despite what a lot of people will tell you, it's not God's gift to the flying public but it is an over rated airline that suffers from a gross lack of competition & therefore you can expect to get ripped off for some of the most expensive domestic flights in the world. Been into a supermarket lately?? If you haven't expect to get ripped off as per usual but in a massive way!!
