      @Harcorwrestlerwhy would you compare her to Serena? Her game is nothing like hers. Parks is so low ranked because she just tried to crush every ball. That clearly does not work against higher ranked players.

    This match went exactly how I thought it would go, having watched Parks' first 2 matches. Fernandez defeated herself that last round against Parks and Parks seized the opportunity. There would be no room for error with Coco, she's too locked in especially coming off the Auckland title.
    Even though Coco has not been playing her best tennis at AO (like most top seed), momentum is building in her favor, and she's becoming more and more settled for the start of the season. I expect her to go even deeper now that she's regained that #3 seed with the Rybakina exit, and she's got #1 on her mind and in her sights for 2024. She's in the points now with this victory over Parks, having successfully defended her points from last year just like she did in Auckland. She could even win it all as there is no clear favorite for this tournament regardless of what the betting houses say...the eye test says something different.

    • @ask7554
      @ask7554 11 месяцев назад +3

      @tjg801 the head to head favors Coco. She's only lost to Penko in 3 sets once, and that was in 2019. Coco is a much better player now, and her service game is better. Double faults really hurt both of them when they match up. If Coco brings a good service game, it's difficult for Jelena to beat her with Coco's defense because she's a good returner and athletic enough to run the court. Coco is not afraid of big hitters. She's beaten everyone in the top 10...including the big hitters.

    If you’ve been following Alycia prior to her Australian Open run then you’ll see the monumental progress that she has been making during this tournament. She was playing better and better. I’m impressed and it’s good to see. I think she needs to get a stable elite coaching situation as it seems a bit turbulent. I think she’s now working with Sascha Bajin, but he couldn’t come to Australia? Continue to work on her shot selection, shot tolerance, plan B (defence) and she will be a huge force to be reckoned with on tour. In her first couple rounds, I loved seeing her problem solve and measured calm demeanour in pressure moments. Today I think she didn’t play well and that could’ve been nerves. Maybe it was because her serve was off 🤷🏿‍♂️ Alycia will do great should she mentally improve and bring that champion charisma and brashness (in the best competitive way) and intensity she has every time she plays. Fell a bit flat today, but this tournament is a MAJOR breakthrough for Alycia and positions her for potentially an unforgettable 2024 for her. Can’t wait to see her game further come together

      Thank you. You said pretty much all that I had been thinking. I would add that you know her nerves were high because she normally serves about 10 aces per match. Also, Alycia seems to love the net. She has the speed and quickness of thought to get there. That sets her apart from other players on tours. I pray she has the support and stamina to keep growing. Such an elegant display of skill and talent.

  • @realityassured
    @realityassured 11 месяцев назад +3

    I've seen a lot of Parks double matches and was kinda taken back at the comparisons made to Serena and the recent comments made before her Gauff match up! That she's a difficult opponent for Gauff! It's no small feat to win a Grand Slam which Gauff have done, or any Championship for that matter! I don't see the instincts or hunger to win in Parks game! With the right coach her game can evolve to a very lethal level..She got the power, her doubles experience gives her soft and quick hands in volleying and placements at the nets! Her ground strokes are too often directly back at her opponents instead of swinging or switching up to the corners which open the court for easier winners! Gauff had that same tendency to hit back to her opponents instead of swinging to the sides or angling to drop net side! Her last game with Iga exposed her inexperienced to swinging to the corners or angling her returns and she was on the defensive throughout the match as Iga was deliberately moving her around! Never letting her get into an offensive rhythm..Gauff lost that match! Parks got the mechanics and skills to be better than what's shown in this game! Her camp need to invest in a strategy coach as Gauff game have made tremendous strides.. Gauff is going to be difficult to beat! Parks was made to look mediocre..A bagel and two games does not a future champion make on such a big stage!

The most difficult part is her easy mistakes: I can’t count how many times she hit the nets in her matches. • @ask7554
      @ask7554 11 месяцев назад +6

      The Serena emulation doesn't seem to be hurting her too much. Like you said, she needs a better mentality, and she needs to reduce her unforced errors. In today's game, she can't just rely on a big serve because it sometimes falls apart in matches like today. She doesn't do well in rallies, and likes to stay on the baseline... this was evident in her first 2 matches. She needs to increase her agility and IQ. She had some bright moments where she came into the net, but the execution was poor, but I love the winners she gave throughout the tournament. I'd love to see her develop and improve, and so she and Coco can become a nice matchup for years to come.. almost like a Venus and Serena revival.

    Parks somehow reminds me of serena in little ways, but her game is too one dimensional. I knew the match was over when she had an amazing starting game blasting aces and then still lost the game with errors. I said thats probably going to be her best service game and she lost. From the two first serves, to having no other option but to blast the balls and try to overpower her opponent…plays into coco’s game. Coco didn’t have to think out there, just stay consistent.

    Some people said this match would resemble Venus vs. Serena match (since the similarity between Coco & Venus, and Alycia & Serena). But alas, nothing can even close to the level of the Williams sisters facing each other.
    Both Venus and Serena are agresive attackers, they never let each other rest and almost never play defensive game. When Venus or Serena had to defend, it's simply because either of them hit ferocious strokes that could be winners against other WTA players.
    Venus sometimes looked more defensive against Serena, but it's actually because of Serena's acute angles that open the court so wide, even for Venus (who is amazing runner). But Venus never hit "helplessly", she can match Serena's power for power, placement for placement, and both have strong mental game.
    This Coco vs. Alycia match is faaaaarr and away from the matches of Venus vs. Serena. In fact, nothing ever comes close to those legends' matches.

    This was a mature performance from Coco. Alicia could become formidable if she continues to improve. She's still young. By the way who's more athletic between prime Williams sisters and Gauff? I want to hear your opinions.

    • @ask7554
      @ask7554 11 месяцев назад

      Serena had a power game and could move. Venus had more movement than Serena. I believe that Coco is more athletic than both of them and has the capability of being a good bridge between Venus and Serena. She's only 19 (soon to be 20) and still working on her serve (which is scary considering where it is) and forehand, but her backhand is solid (like Venus), and her defense is stellar. What people fail to realize about these young players is that they're yet to come into their adult body...so even with strength training, they're not at optimal capacity. Can you imagine when Coco starts to move into her prime? She will be a force to be reckoned with because she's already developing consistency in match wins and strong mentality...when the weak parts of her game are corrected and perfected...wow...like I said earlier, she will be a cheat code version of Venus and Serena. Nobody on the tour can match that... there's future dominance in Coco's future, and she's on the right path.

    Parks RN is very hard to watch because she has so many weapons that she's not utilizing correctly. Her return stance and moving up into the return is a huge disadvantage for her consistency and strike of the ball. Also, she has got to learn how to fight harder when she's down. See seems to get mentally tangled. Very unfortunate because she has such a beautiful game.
    All Coco had to do was play her B game.

    Coco is so cool, calm, collected and all together!. The difference of the two, here, is parentage. Alycia will, in time, get there. And, be able to tone down on the aggressiveness, in time as she ages. The attitudes, anger, aggression is a way of life, for most of us because of our past. It is tuff. And not easy to rid. One have to make a spirited effort to overcome it. It is great to see them both hug at the net, still, I hope they hang out too. It will be great if they should become good friends. You can see, that: THEY are already coming at Alycia and trying to put in a certain corner, if you should notice THEIR edits, but I know she is strong and will be able to handle THEM. JUST HAS HOW MR. WILLIAMS did for his two daughters. Alycia will improve and become a good contender soon. She has all the qualities to be a good tennis player, and I am hoping that 2025 will be her COMING OUT YEAR.
