      I don’t think so. I mean, she’s not very fast, her footwork is very average, she has no choice than playing as she plays.
      Except the serve, her motion is not very fluid and controlled.
      The commentary said she could be very good on grass but I don’t think, too slow and in her reactions too, I don’t talk about the volley… clay court either no.
      Hard court is the best for her. But I like her game (the attitude no) 🤠

    As a Canadian, it's very disappointing to see Leylah go out, especially when she had a 5-2 lead! And then proceeded to lose the next 5 games. She needs to go back to the drawing board both on court and off court because imploding within a game or within a set that you are winning is absolutely killing her game and her ranking. As someone said in the comments below, it's not enough to be a scrappy player..as a lefty she should be developing tools her toolkit to really lean into. As a Black woman, it's very lovely to see Alycia Parks continuing to improve! She's got an impressive game ...love that she comes forward, she serves and volleys, she already has a strong serve with placement...she just needs consistency and to make better strategic decisions on court.

    Once again, Leylah Fernandez proves incapable of leveling up her game. She is predictable, her serve is weak, and spunkiness can only carry you so far. When she was shiny and new at the '21 US Open, she surprised all comers and her competitive nature took her far. She is a scrapper for sure, but here we see what happens when a physically superior young stallion is on her game and blows her off the court. Leylah is a compelling personality but her future is uncertain. As for Alycia, there is nothing so fun as watching a rawly talented tennis player continue to harness her natural gifts. She needs more discipline in her approach to strategy, but meanwhile that serve will keep her in many a match and the forehand is not far behind. Alycia is a character too. I like her!! She still can get a bit more squared in her return stance towards the court. She also will be exploited by more aggressive return stances from the top players who split step into the court. Very impressed with Parks, strong match. Leylah has a tough road ahead. I recall that Justine Henin was small and slight, but she was so fierce. She put every ounce of body weight behind her shots and she could go toe-to-toe with all the big hitters. I'm thinking Leylah is going to need some of that as well as more gym-built muscle to reach the next level in women's tennis. Power tennis drove great players like Martina Hingis out of the sport, so this type of development may end up being crucial for Leylah.

    • @stephenboni421
      @stephenboni421 9 месяцев назад

      I take your point. Burnout and injuries have real impact. Overall record against power players notwithstanding, Hingis' Grand Slam titles did drop off a cliff once power tennis began its ascendancy-and her retirement came at a pretty young age. So, could be multiple truths here. Would you agree, though, that Leylah seems to get overpowered by heavy hitters, and needs a strategy to overcome her disadvantage? @@maximilian2974

    Parks is cool and having a good last 6 months, but Leylah shouldn't be losing to players like this on stages like this. It just validates her US Open finals choke. She just needs to loosen up. She takes every point too seriously.

    This no name player did good against Leylah. She has grand slam potential if she can maintain this form.

    Leylah always looks hopeless against those strong hitters. I can not blame her because of her light frame. She can only keep trying what else?

    I am in total disbelief that she's not Serena Williams...She's just a mirror image of Serena...Her look, serve, outfit, body language, the way of reacting....Its all same😮😲

    Parks pretty impressive. First time I seen her play. Is it racist say Parks 'athletic?' She pretty strong in that category. The white outfit accentuate everything coming together in body, strike her shot. Fernandez resilient, but maybe not at her best.

      Why would it be considered racist to describe someone as athletic?

      She’s a professional athlete 😂 I don’t see how it’s racist to call her athletic

    Needs to work on her footwork as it affects your timing on the groundstrokes. I see her shanking a lot of balls for this reason because her footwork is way to relaxed. If she can learn to stay off her heels and move her feet constantly it'll help her power game immensely.
