My 11-year-old son told me that he doesn't have any friends at school because he has autism. This broke my heart, so I decided to start running a D&D session for him. To both work on his social skills and help him discover imaginary friends. I purchased a MonoX and here are the first three prints I ever made. His Barbarian, Cleric sidekick, and his Pack Mule!

Jerry Holkins once mentioned that his son, whom has autism, goes to group therapy where D&D is used to facilitate social interaction and social-problem-solving

@@ChayComas Oh yeah? That's awesome! My goal is to get a FDM printer and start printing terrain. Then I'd like to set it up with the school where once every two weeks to host a D&D game at the school for kids who are interested. That could allow my son to make some friends and also get the kids introduced to the wonderful world of TTRPGs.

That's great! My wife and I used D&D with our autistic son also. He is 30 now and my wife runs a group for adults with autism through the local Autism society and a local game store.

As someone who was diagnosed late in life, I wish I had someone like you people to help. This sounds like a great thing to help develop social cues and skills. Small controlled but open environments, sounds amazing. I hope more people see this comment and keep it in mind for later.

I started playing D&D only because I knew my autistic brother in law would be into it and he needed some social interaction. We are going on our third year playing in that same group and now I DM another game. It’s been awesome!

My favorite is a standard “dog” that comes with the Ender printers. My three year old son was instantly taken with the figure and named it “Plopy”. I have painted it white with a red belly and golden stripes on it’s back according to his very specific instructions. When I asked why the golden stripes he said “so it can roar like a tiger”. It sits on his nightstand now.

This was my first print. I was going through a deep bout of depression after having a bad panic attack and losing my job. It was the first thing I did in months that actually brought me joy. Since then, I have printed a lot minis, but nothing brings me as much joy as when I first printed that bookmark

This is my first 3D printed terrain, and it's hot off the press; I'm still painting it, as you'll notice it still looks a little slap dash. I've GMed tabletop for years, and was forever envious of tabletop terrain. During quarantine I discovered a talent for crafting, and spent the majority of 2020 following Black Magic Craft tutorials. A month ago I got my first 3d printer, with the goal of creating a collection of terrain for tabletop. And, I am currently building an immersive set for a D&D tradition that my friends and I have kept for over a decade after high school, "Thanksgiving D&D." We all return home to see our families, and now we're bringing families of our own, but always make time for a Holiday One-Shot. This year, they are going to be absolutely blown away!

For years, I’ve wanted to do something artistic; paint, play an instrument, work wood... something. Alas, I seemed to lack skill or aptitude. Recently, I got into 3d printing, and painting minis. Painting this owlbear is the first artistic thing I've done that wasn't terrible and I was proud of, giving me confidence to continue in this wonderful hobby, and fulfil my need to get arty.

This golem was my first print and represent what I love about 3d-printing, trial and error and the help of the community. It was printed from sample filament and snapped mid-print, so I tried to reprint only the top on the half golem, but the homing knocked the golem off the bed. I tried several more attempts, until I just printed the other half of the golem and glued it.

This mini belonged to one of the servant of the main antagonist of my sibling’s campaign. For months in-game and IRL she hunted the players down relentlessly, and they threw back all her hits twice as hard every time she caught up to them.
This prints represent our perseverance, through pain and trials, both in-game and in real life, that we all went through and overcame through determination and companionship.

In 2010 my grandfather passed away after having suffered his 2nd stroke. He was the first person to introduce me to tabletop games, comics, and his love of eating good food. He invoked my love for miniatures of all types. We would spend some evenings drawing and playing games for hours. I started my D&D Game in memory of him. This game gave me the strength to battle my tumor last year. He always wanted to travel, as a merchant he will be able to travel all kinds of fantastic worlds, and maybe meet some Heroes along the was.

I chose these Manuel Boria's trolls because I love his style. They're very whimsical, reminding me of Justin Gerard's illustrations, and of Jim Henson's work on favorites from my childhood: The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and Fraggle Rock. I paint miniatures because it's therapeutic for me at the end of the day, imagining the world that these figures live in, and what they might be doing.

Then, it was easy to insert her into a campaign with my friends.

I printed this sleeve to adapt a ballpoint refill to an expensive pen that only accepts proprietary refills. It's the first model I ever designed in CAD and it was a hard learning curve. I had to print so many iterations, making adjustments of a millimeter here and there until I got it just perfect. This has opened the door to designing my own models, and I LOVE that.

This specific project is the most meaningful one to me, because it was my first ever creation and beggining of the great adventure with 3d printing :) I designed it myself, without using any references and only with few months of knowledge and practice in zbrush. It was supposed to be a boss-like character in my D&D Campaign. Archvillain which was hiding behind a skull mask and used a sword with bone handle, coming back at my players every few meetings.

This is definitely awesome. I tried my hand at 3D modeling, and managed to make a semi-middle eastern themed building for the games of Infinity I played with my friends pre-Covid. It really made me want to get better at the 3D modeling side so I could make even more complex terrain, that I could also make in a modular form, allowing us to change up the board and also giving something fun to paint. Good luck to everyone!
Like you, 3D printing was a nice gateway into the world of potential and creativity that you could get into from 3D printing.

I've loved playing D&D with a few close friends of mine for the past 6 years and it's helped keep us all together and intouch since leaving school, this would really help bring our games to the next level being able to print custom minis for our characters

I got into 3d printing because I really wanted D&D environments to interact with. My friend used to print stuff for me until I broke down and got my own. Once I got one, I HAD to try to print a mini (because I'm addicted to minis). I followed your settings for mini FDM prints and got hooked. Now my printer is running almost all the time.

Been following for some background in 3d printers because my son wants a printer. Love the work you do.

This is awesome!, even if I don't win anything major I think I'm more excited to find out about a bunch of creators I probably wouldn't have ever found of otherwise.
