  • This video will walk you through how to build a cheap DIY light box to take gorgeous photos! This DIY video walks you step by step using PVC pipe and connectors for quick and easy construction. All of these materials were bought at a local hardware store for a few bucks. This light box is 4 feet wide, 2.3 feet deep by 2 feet tall. Attachments allow for four lights to be suspended a foot above the light box. The PVC construction allows for great customization and easy tear down. Watch until the very end on what NOT to do while building. Check out more at our website- pinthatcraft.wordpress.com/

    I just made this! Brilliantly simple design. Cost breakdown from Lowes, Office Depot, and Walmart (no sale items)1/2 pvc pipe 4x10ft $1.42x4= $5.681/2 pvc tee fittings 10pk for $3.001/2 pvc elbow $1.38 x 4= $5.52Clamp lights$6.97 x 3= $20.91Paper roll (office depot)$10.00Flat cotton sheet (Walmart) twin size$5.00Spring clamps (lowes)4 x $2.29 = $9.16
    TOTAL: $59.27
The only real variable I see is what kind of bulbs you buy for the lamps. You could go cheap or expensive depending of what or how much spectrum you want the box lit with. Hope this helps!

The sheet doesn’t allow enough light through. You need something like muslin or nylon. I bought a bolt of diffuser material for $8.00 from bhphoto for my light box. The sheet has a yellowing effect on the light that passes through

where does the 3rd light go? you said it needed 3 lamps, i only see 2.

There are two lamps in the front, left and right and 1 lamp in the back on the left side. you can customize where you want your lights to be depending on your lighting and where you want more light to shine through. Thank you!

i built it. SO AWESOME, but am having trouble finding a paper roll that's white and that size. Where did you get it?

I found the white paper roll at office depot, staples or a local craft store. The size i got was 36 inches. But if I was to do it over again, I would use a fabric white/black backdrop because the corners kept showing while trying to take photos of my objects. I am glad you are able to build it and work out for you!

what type of fabric is the backdrop??

It is actually just a roll of art paper found at hobby lobby or your local craft store. Then we also used a fitted bed sheet for the top and sides. It worked out pretty well but I would find a larger bed sheet or use more paper for the top and sides to really hide the corners better. Thanks for watching!

I ended up buying a backdrop with stands and crossbar and also softboxes with diffusers , the whole set cost me 150$ and it comes with bags therefore more convenient for me , I figured I will put third the cost on the one your did , might aswell buy some decent gear, since my items are a bit large.
but thank you for the great video in all cases !
