      Find and Develop a money making skill that you love to do. Make stuff that people want to buy. Do the tasks that others aren't willing to do. Find a lucrative void and fill it. Save your money, cook and eat at home, control your impulse shopping, work a full time job and have 2 different side businesses of your own. Don't have bad and expensive habits, only buy equipment that will make you money. Invest your money and make it work for you. Over many years of Investing in your future with these ideas and you can retire at 44 like I did. Then you can buy your sewing machines and the things that create this envy in you. This is the American way. It works if you let it. Try this logic in Mogadishu or North Korea or Argentina, impossible. Only in America and very few other countries can you go from rags to riches by chasing your dreams. Or you can flip burgers and be a dull drone eeking out a meager existence with shattered dreams. Will that be paper or plastic, or blood, sweat and tears then prosperity ? Be the change you want to see.

    Hello Bruce. I've been working with leather for over 40 years. I just retired from my day job, I'm working on my leather full time now. It's time for a sewing machine. Are you familiar with coyboy CB3200 ? What do you think of it ? I don't make saddles, mostly belts, dog collars & harnesses, wallets etc. I like the 3200 because you can add a flat bed top. It will be my first machine.

    • @cheaneysaddles
      @cheaneysaddles  7 лет назад +1

      Peter, I purchased my Cowboy CB 4500 from Bob at Toledo Industrial Sewing Machines LTD I think it would be good if you called him and talked to him about the 3200. (866) 362 - 7397 My opinion is I think the 3200 will work for you.

    That machine does a nice job! I've got the Artisan and the Cobra version, and I've been happy with them. I do the same with the #346 on top (#277 in the bobbin) because I like the contrast. I like the stitching to stand out. I haven't used polyester --it's been nylon. Any advantage to the poly thread? Thanks, Bruce--love your videos! And your work!

    • @cheaneysaddles
      @cheaneysaddles  8 лет назад +2

      Bruce, In the 80's I used a Landis 3 before that I used a Landis 16 and then I bought a Ferdinand Bull and used it many years then I got this Cowboy CB4500 which I really like. My brother Phillip has two Cobras and they are really sweet running machines I would like one of those also... As far as the Polyester thread I just like the way it sews and looks I think I tried nylon one time and it did'nt work well and never tried it again. Thanks for your support and comments. Keep up your leather work and stay in touch. Bruce

    • @jordanwhite1420
      @jordanwhite1420 2 года назад

      I've found that nylon thread stretches, which I don't like. It seemed to cause tension problems for me. I strongly prefer polyester thread (mostly I use sz. T-90 for leathers under 6 oz) for it's strength and stability.

    What sort of feed dogs are you using there Bruce? I have trouble with small pieces on my 441 clone as the feed dogs tend to push up really high and put the piece at an angle when I'm sewing near the edges.

    • @cheaneysaddles
      @cheaneysaddles  8 лет назад

      This is a stock Cowboy CB4500 set up the way it came when I got it new, I'm not sure what type feed dogs are on this machine but they seem to the job for me. Sorry I don't have an answer. Bruce

    Bruce, I ordered the cs osborne compass. I am having trouble with it.Any secrets ?

    • @cheaneysaddles
      @cheaneysaddles  5 лет назад

      If it is the scratch compass you may need to adjust the leg guide as well as hold it at about a 45 degree angle when you cut the groove. I may take some practice on scrap leather to get used to it.

    Hi Bruce. Is the foot on the machine ( where the thread goes down through) split in the front or does it pass through a hole ( as the normal foot has) If so is this foot available or is it custom adjusted? Many thanks for your great videos.

    • @cheaneysaddles
      @cheaneysaddles  7 лет назад +2

    • @ljr8819
      @ljr8819 7 лет назад +1

      And thanks for that info Bruce. Unfortunately I am in Cape Town:) But will make an adjustment which Im sure will work if I just cut out the front bit leaving a "horseshoe" rather than the hole. Many thanks again.

    Hi Bruce, I just purchased a Cowboy-3200. I've been trying hard to stay on the groove line. I have the edge guide, but not the left presser foot to bring guide closer. I noticed that your presser foot looks modified. Did you cut, use a grinder to be able to see the need in your stitch groove line?
