    Thanks for the terrific tutorial. The use of those little spring clips is a great idea; I'm going to give them a try with my silnylon tarps.

      Search for "industrial sewing machine parts" There are several parts houses that should be able to set you up no problem. Just call and ask.

    hey I have been trying to find info on how to lub/ oil my machine and have been unsuccessful. I have a mitsubishi 311-158 walking foot similar to your DU- 105 with similar similar oil spots/ reserves points of references ( if that makes sense. I am unable to get in contact with whom I purchased and. havent really used the machine and reserve is dry and dont want to mess up. can you guide me some. any little bit helps

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  8 лет назад

      Get some good clear sewing machine oil. Fill the reservoir, mine has a dipstick to check the level. Oil any pivot or bearing surface you can find, wicks should be saturated too. Too much oil is not bad for your machine but it could get on your projects so be judicious. A drop here and a drop there, you should not have any problems, keep it lubricated and it should last your lifetime.

    • @brownikjb
      @brownikjb 8 лет назад

      this might sound dumb but where do you put oil in reservoir. my dip stick and reservoir meter is in the same area as yours. i checked the dipstick after watching your video and it was dry as a bone and so is the reservoir meter. do i put the oil where the dipstick is... feeling helpless

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  8 лет назад

      Get one of those bottles with the long bendy tube. Pull out the dipstick and squirt your oil right down the dipstick tube.

    Hello there! I absolutely love your video. I have a questions out the glue.
    I read down in the previous comments you used white glue, or was that a suggestion?
    What you sprayed out of the can seemed to work well ? Was that General purpose contact adhesive?
    Does your glue ever soak threw the fabric, leaving a blotchy look?
    I'm looking for something consistent that won't soak through the fabric, any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ben

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  8 лет назад +5

      +Ben Lamontagne Yes I use general purpose spray adhesive, the cheapest I can find. I have never had any problem of any kind with it. It goes on light and it is very handy stuff. I no longer use edge coat, instead I use a slicker to burnish the edges. Much better. Thanks and have fun.

    Great video. Just wondering what thickness and type of leather you use?

  • @fashionistakitty
    @fashionistakitty 10 лет назад

    What is the leather needle u used aka the thickness and point? And is the Walking foot a Teflon one or something ? And where do u think I can find one? (if u can name it please do!)

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  10 лет назад +1

      This was some time ago, the needle is probably in the 20 to 22 size, a plain old ball point and tex 105 polyester thread. The machine you should look for is an Industrial Walking Foot Sewing Machine. Juki and Consew are a couple of good name brands but other machines are good too. Good Luck.

    Yet another flawless video by the one Alexander Dyer.. love it!
    I was just wondering if this could be used with faux leather? Or would you recommend the real stuff?
    Big up yourself xx 😊

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  7 лет назад +1

      I say use whatever you have. You know some have made wallets out of duct tape and they are pretty good. Just remember, even if you make a wallet from faux leather, it is still a real wallet.

      Alexander Dyer cool cool. I have to tell you again, I’m very impressed by your work and the way you explain the machines you use.
      At the moment, I’m just starting out with sewing bags, I’ve been doing it for about a year now and I practiced on a basic brother machine. I’ve since moved on to a janome clx 301, but it’s not really coping with the work.. quite slow and burned out once. I haven’t got a massive budget, but I’m going to invest in an industrial machine. At the moment, I’m looking at juki ddl8100e or the 8700, but I still don’t know if these would be good for the job. I was wondering if you could give me a little machine advice..?
      I wish I could post you a pic of the bags I have made so you could get an idea of what I’m doing.. I don’t know how to do that on RUclips. Or you could have a quick look on my Instagram.. if you like 😉😉 simplybee79
      Anyway, I have already picked up a lot from you from your videos, they are amazing, and I hope you keep posting. You’re the best!
