Does Fedex descriinate on age, because age discrimination in real in the regular work force and one would never think it can start as young as age 40 much less be close to age 50.. Do you know about this?
FedEx Freight road driver here. Overall good info to spread, but new drivers should keep in mind that it can take some time to get to that $100k level. $60k is a more realistic first year goal. Also, the July 24 check was so big because it included our bi-annual bonus.
How long do you drive?

I am going for an interview tomorrow, I am currently in the foodservice business, been doing it for 11yrs, any solid information you could give me about fedex would be great
Kind of late but will they hire you if you don’t have experience or do you need experience?
Always wanted to get my CDL and your videos helped me make that decision
Great video commentary. I'm looking forward to getting started into this with FEDEX as well as a career change.
Thanks so much for the information,my husband just recently was promoted to full-time driver after working for fedex freight for 5 years.
Damm you are on fire 🔥 I'm surprised somebody dislike your video . You're passing good information. And not trust all the super trucker that why you ask for pay stub
Alex, they just added a position like this in my area. I just applied. Looking to leave my toxic work environment and move onto a job where I do not have to rely on others, I can be self sustaining. It's for a city driver, but I will push for a road driver position. Alex, bro, thank you so much for your channel, and that of the people that have helped make this show what it is. This is gold for a new driver try to cut his teeth in the industry, or even for a seasoned vet who is unhappy with his current position. I'm 42, have been my employer for 16 years, it has gotten so toxic, I hate going to work. But I have two people to thank for this step, yourself sir, and TruckingWithTay. Both of you have made me realize I can take the leap of faith and start over. I have been so scared to start over at this age, but you guys have made me realize, life is short, if you are not happy, do your research, apply, and make your life better. Thank you bro. I'll follow up to let you know how everything goes with Fed Ex Freight.
Good luck
Did you get the job?
How did everything go with Fedex Freight?

God bless you and your family abundantly more and more keep helping appreciate it💕

I’m about to embark in this journey 🤞🤞 thanks for the vid!!
Thanks for the Fed ex info very helpful!!!!!
Good info. It's all true man I've been working the dock on and off for a few years just waiting my turn to start the apprenticeship!

I'll try
I got in as a part time dock worker then bumped up to full-time dock worker but I'm in a smaller center but good because we're connected to three large hubs and run a pogo meet. South east Alabama. After two years hard work on the dock has landed me a driver apprenticeship for road driving our drivers are seniority based but even extra board drivers run every night and have plenty of opportunities to make as much money or more. They bump your pay per mile every year and when someone higher up quits or retires you move further up. I'm lucky because our center has several drives about to retire and I'll be in a good spot in just a few years.
I love your show bro! I just got my learners permit a couple months ago and now I’m just trying to see which company has the best benefits and pay to offer me.
I hit the like, because this is exactly what I was looking for thanks 🤩
Also is that weekly pay?

Wow great video
As a fedex ground driver last year I made 61,000. Now due to covid and since we are busy as hell I am estimated to make 90,000 this year.
I worked at coke in Louisiana for 21 yrs and left in 17 making 20.54/hour and they micro-managed our time I been at Estes now with NO manual labor hardly and making 25.25/hour !! Home every nite too. Freight lines for whatever reason pay LOT more !! I love Estes I,m 50 and will retire when I,m 65 in 15 yrs
That’s it?
What benefits does ground offer ?
2021 was my first year as a road driver at FedEx Freight and I made it to $92,000 for the year. I am hoping and expecting to make over 100k this 2022 as I will possibly be running a little more. I get paid .75 cents a mile, and $33 hourly when I work the dock. I had ZERO experience when I got hired. Pretty good deal if you ask me!

Can you work fed ex freight straight out of CDL school or they need experience ?
@@johnmabanza287 1 year. Or sign up from driver apprentice and they will train you even if you have your CDL already
I got my CDL through FedEx freight one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I was a part time dock worker before I started driving school.. for me it was a 3 week class then I went and took my state test and passed then did another week after that for my doubles. I've worked a lot of dead end jobs in the past and this is definitely not a job but a career full of opportunities. You can make a lot of money for a little work.. you get paid for fuels, drops, hooks, tractor only, tractor switches really the only thing you don't get paid for is filling up on Def but even then that's probably calculated in your fuels. Your pay is based on where your terminal is located. If you have FedEx freight as an option I would definitely think hard about it!
I wanna get cdl

@@JWilliams-sn3qe around a year or so it really just depends on your terminal if they need drivers and if there's an open position

FedEx freight and ground is two different parts of FedEx...an you also have to account peak season. An it definitely depends on the contract. I post that on one of your videos already.....
Yeah, I've been at FedEx freight for 12 years, the one thing you're not seeing is how pathetic the healthcare is. how expensive it is just to go to the doctor, he's not talking to you about that, but that's the straight up truth, that nice paycheck isn't s*** when your health care cost you almost as much as you make. It is genuinely the worst healthcare in the LTL industry.
Ok what isn’t tell you Yes I know you can make much. But give me the brake down. Holiday extra day and what Else makes up that big paycheck
And every cost of living raise is wiped out by an increase in health care premiums.
That hasn’t been my experience, we had three babies with very little out of pocket expense. Many times over the years I’ve had doctor offices be surprised that our coverage is so good. Costs have increased pretty steeply ever year for the last three years, but family coverage for medical, dental, and vision is currently just over $40 per week.
does fedex take automatic restrictions?

FedEx Freight is the best company I have ever worked for, here in the Midwest we gross over $125k easy. Top centers for this kind of pay are KCY(Kansas City) and SGF(Springfield MO) FedEx has zero tolerance for unsafe drivers, I have to say this kind of money really makes you pay attention to safety being our 1st priority.
Hey. My bf just got on with fedex and they offered him a route based in either KC or Dallas. You think KC is the better option?
What are other areas in the country that pays this amount annually? How much is the net annually salary?
@@guillermoal8514 Oklahoma City (OKC) Flagstaff Arizona, Little Rock Arkansas, Indianapolis, pretty much the surrounding Midwest states start salary of $75k to $134k Net top pay after 3 years. The closer you get to the coasts it’s less opportunity because you can only go 3 directions not 4.
What about Cincinnati?
I know this is a year old, but Im getting ready to start out of the FedEx freight Scott city, Mo barn. What kind of money do city delivery guys average with FedEx freight?
I work for Fedex Freight in Southern California. The take home pay being way low then the gross is because we also pay a portion of our medical insurance. I pay for longterm disability insurance, life insurance, car insurance, and some other things it cost me $160.00/week for this. Pretty good program Fedex Freight has for taking care of your family. The medical insurance goes up on us every year.
That’s expensive af
So kiss your yearly raises then if your insurance keeps going up too
I applied for a road driver position in San Bernardino CA. Would you happen to kno how they run their extraboard guys out of that location? Its an hourly position do they pay OT to the road guys? Lots of dockwork?
Same at FedEx Express. They constantly give us a 3% raise, basically a COLA, then raise your portion of health care 2% or more. Basically negates your raise. Been that way for numerous years of my 26 year stint with Express. This coming October we will see if corporate does anything thing for RTD'S and the rest of the rank and file employees. Shit is sad imho.
Can you opt out of the medical, just take the life & commercial insurance? I'm also from CA, looking to get into this field taking an early retirement from current employer. Looking to (in future) be regional (solo) if at all possible.
Convoys really on the move now
i work at fedex frieght and can guarantee that city drivers do not make this much money. road drivers can and do make this much, but so can drivers at XPO, UPS, and Old Dominion. You're going to be working 70 hours a week though.
How many hours a week does a city driver work for FedEx freight. I just took my urine sample for them today. Also, once you take the urine sample, how long does it take to get a final confirmation for hire or start date?
I just started working for fedex overnight unloading truck trailers. I’m very interested in getting my CDL an I’ve talked to my manager about it an he told me about the same exact programs I can’t wait to get hands on with it
🙏 thanks a lot
I have been driving for Fedex Freight for 24 years. It’s all true. We also have a company funded pension on top of our 401K. The second paystub was mine, I texted it to you two days ago.

Will they hire you if you've been in trouble in the past??
Shoestring Trucker how much experience do you need to drive for Fedex

That gross compared to take home is ridiculous.
Probably putting helluva lot in 401K. I would.

Fed Ex is literally the best I worked there for only 2 months during the pandemic and just during that short time I was given so many benefits.. from vision, dental, medical and whenever I resigned they even payed me severance pay.
What could a City apprentice expect in Portland, OR?
I love 💕😘 you man!!!! Thanks for this!!! I am FedEx ground. This is good news!!
You can do that with about any of the LTL companies. I do 100-110k a year at XPO and know people at Old Dominion, Saia, Fed Ex doing the same. And you don’t need to be there long to get it. I made close to 90k my first year.
Would love info. Text me 786 353 5674
How much experience did you come in with?
Are they still forcing drivers to work back end dock to there 14? Or was that a Conway thing or just some centers?
Less than a year
@Adam I only know of 1 service center that does that and that’s in Abilene. I’ve been there 10 years and have never had to work the dock after my run. We do work the dock in the middle getting our loads ready to come back but once we get home our day is done.
After the up and downs in pay over at the food-grade hauling outfit I'm at, finally got a call for a FedEx Freight line-haul position in Albuquerque. Just waiting for a call from the terminal manager to get the final say. Starting pay was around .54/mile, but with these pay-stubs posted here, I'm guessing there's actual raises put in place after not too long. Been driving for eleven years total now and really need to get more out of this line of work.

I’m a city driver. My offer letter stated $28.93 an hour and $.66 a mile. Unsure if the mileage is the same for road drivers tho. This was just two weeks ago also.

How many hours a day?
I'm a dock-worker at FXF since 2017. Just got my CLP and starting the DDC in a couple of weeks. Wish I had done it years ago, but am so glad to have the opportunity now. FXF is, comparatively speaking, a great company to work for. The benefits are second to none, at least the best I've seen. (And I've seen about 20 different companies). We have so many drivers that have been there 10, 20, 30 and even 35 plus years, it really speaks volumes to me about how good the company is. Every other one I've worked for is a revolving door. I know they exist for stockholders and profits, but they seem to be doing it as well as it can be done in our greedy capitalistic model. At 43, I can appreciate all these things I didn't even see in my youth.
Is DDC a driver development course? I'm a current trucking student with a CLP also and would love to work for fedex
Is your pay dependent on your location in The country? For example I live near Seattle and cost of living is ridiculous. I could have a job up here that pays $70K a year but if I move to Texas or Oklahoma that same job will pay less due to the cost of living for the area. Is it the same for truck driving?
@mmiller4255 yeah. Moving to San Antonio from Oly.
Truckers work so hard my dad is never home but I know he’s working his assort to provide for us

I want to get my CDL but am so so worried about being in a bad sit with a company for school
Stay away from smith and Solomon. I wasted 7k going there. I have no CDL, the instructors literally don't teach you. The students teach eachother. Total nightmare for me. I shouldn't have to beg my instructors to teach me when I pay them too! Be very careful where you go. Alot of CDL schools are set up to get you to sign a finance agreement or take GI bill money or state money. They will have 30 or more students with two three trucks . Three instructors and they literally have you standing around all day not learning. I'm honestly researching how to sue them at this point.
What would u recommend 1st trucking job to apply for I’m getting my cdl in January or February I’m 20 trying drive around city or 5 to 6 hours cause ik some jobs u don’t have to drive state to state lmk or if anyone knows thanks 🙏🏼
This is true....I work there also, the senior guys make that much driving on the road everyday with most likely a 600 mile run. Someone like me, only getting a 300 mile run a night, you can net around $1100 with working the dock. You can make way more running these low miles buuuut you will have to work a lot of hours on the dock (forklift work). I know a guy at my same terminal that gross over $2200 a week but works a lot of hours on the dock and run the same run I run. I’ve came to the realization that the senior guys that’s able to retire, most of them aren’t going to right away because the run is just so easy to do and the money is so easy to make, and they plan to work until they can’t anymore. Ive been with the company for almost 8 years.

For just the permit you can do it by yourself. There's apps you can download with the test questions so you can practice and just take the test at dmv when you're ready.
Would I be able to get it in as a road driver if I have some car accidents on my record?
Does anyone know if you're allowed to bring a passenger to ride along with you?

Do they hire straight out of trucking school? For city drivers or do you have to Otr with them for a certain amount of time
There is no OTR at FedEx Freight. If you have less than a year of experience or don't even have your CDL yet, you can apply for a Driver Apprentice position and they'll put you through a ~6 week paid training program, including getting your CDL if you don't already have it. Just keep in mind that you have to go through an actual job interview, it's not like the OTR companies where you say you'd like to work for them and they say you're hired.
A B thank you for the information. Also thank you for taking time to answer my question.

Everyone NEEDS to know that there is a difference in Fed-Ex Freight and Ground etc. Freight is company, Ground are contractors that look and are always hiring for good drivers with ONLY 1 year recent experience required by Fed-Ex cause alot of drivers are lazy. No insurance or 401k but i make a solid 300 bucks on an average 12 hour day home every night and off weekends. Hope this might help some of yaw stay safe and keep er tween the deetches!
Do you work for a contractor?
Yea
I wouldn't call any driver lazy. That's hard work for low pay
300 bucks for 12 hours?! Wow that’s so low
$325 now, maybe low to some but for me and around Chattanooga its not "low" at all
The fuck ?? 1000 , 1100 on taxes ??? Seriously? That’s fucking crazy man
