  • What is headless commerce? You're probably on a platform that's been around for some time, what I would call a traditional, monolithic platform. Despite that, you're not sure. what the differences are or why you should really care about the differences between traditional #eCommerce and #HeadlessEcommerce architectures. The monolith has been around for a very long time and served us well but in this rapidly changing world, you need a new approach that provides the agility you need as a business but is also capable of dealing with the complexities of delivering omnichannel experiences.
This is a quick summary of the differences between headless ecommerce and the older traditional monolith, highlighting the limitations of the monolith and how headless overcomes them.

Wonderfully explained. I was looking for the basic concept and all I found on internet was confusing videos. Thank God that I could find John's video

there are a lot of confusing conflicting videos and articles out there and there's always more and more Jargon trying to make things even more confusing. Thankyou Rick for taking the time and writing a kind comment.

Your videos are excellent! What are your thoughts on Adobe and Sitecore solutions?

Thank you, Anna, Although Adobe and Sitecore have moved into the cloud they are still monoliths. I have heard that SiteCore is trying to re-architect itself to be more modern but it's a huge undertaking to take an old platform built in the old way and try to turn it into modern-day architecture. Usually, they move their software into the cloud, then remove the dependency for the head by wrapping up old tech with APIs and calling it headless - which in fact is really decoupled.
None of these platforms are MACH platforms. MACH architecture really separates out the old monoliths dressing themselves up to look like they are in the modern way of doing things.
I'd recommend watching my MACH Architecture playlist - if you haven't already - if you are interested in learning more details about what makes a modern headless system.
Thank you for the question as it gets to the heart of what is really headless and what is a monolith
