- Hi guy , Watch this video and make your own calcium at home for your birds and parrots . This calcium is far much better then the market's calcium because this is pure and it doesn't contain any color or extra show off stuff . I am using these home made calcium from past 2 year and my budgies/parrots are doing fine with this calcium . This calcium contains best sources of natural calcium i-e egg shell , cuttlefish bone and plaster of Paris also contains calcium carbonate .

Should I remove the cuttlebone shell before grinding. If so how do I remove the shell.
Two questions. Can one add a powered calcium carbonate rather than cuddle bone? Is plaster of Paris safe for birds.
Answer for 1st is NO and answer for 2nd is yes.
@DIY Stories are we sure my person I go to two ask everything died on the 29th of December so what I'd plaster made of and I'd there any to avoid that might have something that is dangerous..I'm sure they add stuff to these thing's..on the up a friend sent me a huge box of huge cuttlefish bone there huge he sends his grandson out to gather some for me and I send the boy 20 quid for his trouble 😀

Hello there , no problem at all . Just add crushed egg shells . Thats also a good source of calcium .

No because Plaster of Paris contains calcium sulphate hemihydrates which is a good source of calcium for birds .

you can use eggshells or oyster-shells, paris is not toxic, but in the long run,it can cause problems in the gut of a bird,

Bobo Baba no ! Plaster of Paris is an odourless powder entirely made of calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CaSO4•1/2H2O) and is generally non-toxic.

Yes it is . Plain plaster of Paris is just calcium carbonate and is safe once it has been added to water then dried.
@@DIYStories but ready mineral blocks doesn't have only calcium, it contains other necessary minerals as well.
I don't think this is practical and worth the effort.
