I LOVE your tutorials! Seeing that I am NOT a quilter (but sew heirloom and English smock), I think you have just made me want to make this Chevron Quilt! Thank you so much for posting!! This is a happy quilt!!
Laura I wish you lived near me! I think it would be so fun to look through your fabric stash while sipping some tea together. I started quilting about a year ago with my grandmothers help, but since she isn't local I often use your videos for tips/tricks. I'm a true scrappy quilter with a ton of respect for your talent, you do an amazing job turning simple designs or fabrics into gorgeous quilts. Thank you so very much for all of the inspiration and knowledge, I hope to keep passing the tradition along for many years while adding some of my own unique twists!! xoxo
This is the best tutorial I’ve found on youtube...and believe me I’ve watched ALOT! You explained the steps I such a simple way without dragging on and on which made it so much easier to follow along. After watching this video I don’t feel so discouraged about quilting, I’m actually very inspired to start making my own quilts. I’ve been wanting to make my daughters their very own personalized quilts but had no idea how to even go about it. I found the whole process so intimidating. But I’ve gained the confidence I was looking for. Thank u so much ✂️
I made this for my mother-in-law for Christmas. She absolutely adored it. Thank you so much! I really look forward to all of your tutorials. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Can you use a jelly roll for you Chevron. As love as you keep them in order? I m so happy cuz i love the quilt and thought i never could make one. Thanks Laura...
Have I told you that I really, really, really love your videos. You make everything so easy. I've only made baby size quilts. This one looks so doable. I will try it and let you know. Thank you so much!!!!!!!! Keep the good stuff coming!!
Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos! You have such a sensible instruction manner and makes me believe I can do this. Thanks again for the blessing you are to fellow quilters.
Thanks so much for this tutorial! This is my first „real“ quilt, I just finished it yesterday. I started it in November, now it‘s May. I made it Queen Size and made it for a friend, who is very fond of everything yellow in colour. Mine is 34 different fabrics, about 1/4 in yellows, the rest I picked blacks, whites, and greys. The backing is a yellow flannell, with a row of solid black and off white. My friend is very happy with it, she got it as a surprise on Mother‘s Day. I learned so much by doing it, and I feel a lot more confident for the next project. The actual quilting was a bit of a challenge in my Home Sewing machine, due to the size, but absolutely worth the effort.Looks great in her room.
Laura, Being a newbie I thought I would Never be able to do the style quilt. Your great teaching has given me the confidence that I needed to try it. Merci Bouche. Lol I hope this Cajun got it right. I'll be watching Laura...
Done in a weekend! I think I'll make one to toss on my hammock. Oh...and one of the daughters has requested a picnic quilt. I hadn't thought of a pattern yet, but this will suit perfectly. She'll be in the park having lunch in no time! Thanks Laura!
+Melanie Varela So glad you made it, can you please send a picture on my face book :) I would love to see it. I need to make another one, it was so fun
Im making a starwars chevron quilt so i have to make my own fat quarters. I love this method!!! Thank you for your clear and easy to follow instructions :D
Thank you so much for posting this video-it was very easy to follow the directions and it was very easy to make! I had been collecting batiks to make a chevron quilt for my daughter & this pattern was exactly what I was looking for!
This is "sew" very clear! You are a great teacher. I really want to make this quilt when I am done with the one I am working on! Thank you. I am a new subscriber :)
+Margo King It took me a while to figure it out, but boy am I happy I did. I now what to make one in blacks and whites. and one in yellow and blue...I'm glad you like it:)
This is so nice Laura. I don’t think I’m ready for this yet, but it’s certainly something I would like to try. I cam imagine it in pastel colours in my summer garden
I just finished a chevron quilt. It was a QAYG and it was awful to do. The chevrons didn't match up, so I called it a scrappy quilt. But I really wanted to finish it because it was a gift for my daughter and her new husband. With each sewn strip I said a prayer for them. There were a few Lord let me finish this prayers too. This is so much easier. Thank you I might need to try this again.
Wow! That is Brilliant the way you made that,I Love it.I definitely need to try making 1 of these as soon as I can get to the fabric store. I Love all of your tutorials!
The hardest part of this 97:20ish) is matching the seams when you sew them together, so be exact in your cutting and sewing. It also helps to pin in the seam on the top 1/4 inch exactly and make sure that pin hits the seam underneth exactly 1/4 inch in then place it. It takes time getting used to but if you sew exact all other seams should match up as you sew. Learned this the hard way doing a lone star.
I have been sewing for 70 years..quilting for 40. You are a wonderful teacher! RE: Cevron Chic:..will jelly roll strips work? They are cut WOF and not LOF. Yours are cut LOF and have less/no "stretch. Does that matter? Thanx
Terrific! I wanted to make a chevron quilt. I like hsts but the pattern isnt really fun, is it? But this pattern looks like great fun. I love to put pieces together & watch the pattern emerge. Thanks, Laura. You are the best.🎅🙋
I have watch your viedo for long time really enjoy them am making you chevron quilt know and I love you sewing room I just want to say thank you you really make me want to make more quilt what do you do with all the quilt you make thanks again and keep them coming
I am new to quilting and you explain the process for beginners. I like this very much especially since there are no hst! I would like to make this only using 3 colors from yardage. Can you help me with this breakdown?? Thank you so much and today is January 20, 2021
Several Q's. Would a walking foot help too, I am going to try this quilt. Also, on this binding, should it be pieces cut on the bias too, I am a little confused.
Thank you, Laura. You are very didatic in your videos . I love all them. I think is not so easy like ir appers but I will try ! Sorry for my english, is not very well ...😄😍
I really love this pattern, it seems much easier than using the 1/2 triangles. Could you please advise how I would adjust the sizes for a table runner. Thank you, regards Barbara
I was wondering if you have a paper pattern for this quilt? I'm trying to figure out how much fabric I will need to make this into a queen sized quilt.
Each column is 9" wide (she said cut 4.5 inches on each side from center). Then calculate the amount of columns by the desired width. I didn't work out length yet.
I have made my 5 strips of black and white alternating and when I am going to sew the strips together I understand from the video that the strips should be opposite (pointed side to flat side where we started with the triangle). No matter how hard I have tried when I pin the 2 strips together and open them up the seams are way off. If I keep the strips going the same direction they match up. What am I doing wrong?
Ive started this quilt and only making 4 columns so my chevron is closer. Do you add an extra triangle to the bottom of each column? What's the best option to make it uniform?
All these numbers and plans... this is a hobby that keeps your mind sharp. No wonder my grandma always remembered my birthday!

Awesome video as always! Can you perhaps do a tutorial on a feather quilt block?
I really love this pattern, it seems much easier than using the 1/2 triangles. Could you please advise how I would adjust the sizes for a table runner. Thank you, regards Barbara
You will only need one row or column, and stop adding when you have it long enough.
Thank you so much. I find your tutorials so easy to follow.
thank you:)
Love the simplicity of this pattern. My question would be how would you suggest quilting this? Stitch in the ditch?
cute love how easy this is, and love your site
thanks and thank you for watching
This was fantastic. Thank you. I did not want to do any paper piecing.

Beautiful quilt! Thank you.
Awesome...you make it so easy..
Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
I was wondering if you have a paper pattern for this quilt?

This was such a good tutorial thank you
Hi I'm first time quilter, does it matter what type of thread one uses or I use normal thread?
you can use a all purpose thread or 100% cotton
If I wanted to widen the strips to 3.5 inches (cut) giving a finished strip of 3inches wide, what size triangle would I begin with?
I'm sorry, I do not know:)
Cool idea! What's the finished size using that amount of fq?
about 45 x 65
Thank you for such clear instructions.
Great Teacher
I'm excited to try this!
I wish I was there to see. I'm not to sure why that is happening. If it works better the other way, go with that. It will still look great!
Than you. I am going to make one in Red, white and grey for my daughter-in-law.
have fun:)
Is it possible to use 5in and 3in cuts from a jelly roll to make a baby quilt?
Yes :) you just need to keep them in line
If I wanted to do this with just 2 fabrics do I just start strip 1 with fabric 1 and strip 2 with fabric 2?
YES! have fun
Am I missing it, or does she mention what type of backing to put on it prior to the border?
Very Good Laura
+Gul Subhani Thanks!
Ive started this quilt and only making 4 columns so my chevron is closer. Do you add an extra triangle to the bottom of each column? What's the best option to make it uniform?
No, one is good
Would it turn out nicely if instead I cut my strips from the width of the fabric?
any way you want is fine:)
Sorry, cutting blade and board. Can I get it in india?
Very nice, thanks for sharing!
I would love to try this method . . . Do you h ave the instructions written out?
No sorry< just the video:)
