Great info about old west clothing. You have a lot of knowledge on this deep subject and I like your authentic look. I have found it strange the choices and availability of clothing in the old west. For instance "trouser belt loops" you mentioned. They are very practical and yet very rare in old west photos (I had thought they didn't exist until I saw this video) I was surprised you mention elastic being around and used in suspenders. I have heard elsewhere that there was no elastic in socks and underwear until well into the 20th century so your socks would bag around your ankles. I could be wrong but I heard that sexy women's lingerie guarder straps etc actually originated from the necessity for women to use such things to hold their under garments in place without elastic.
I am curious now about the elastic use in socks and women’s clothing items now! I didn’t even think of it to be honest! It’s pretty crazy to think how much we take for granted in today’s everyday life! Like elastic in socks! Thanks for watching as always, Tuco!
The strong hand and cross draw one I bought at an estate sale years back and the cavalry holster I got on eBay on the cheap that I just slide onto a normal belt!

Your hat is the spittin' image of my Manny Gammage Texas Hatters Plateau of which I own 2. My favorite hat of all time.
It’s a great hat! So you my friend have some good taste!
Excellent info, and lookin' spiffy.
Well I appreciate you sitting through it! Thanks, Santee!
Vests were popular mostly because at the time they believed that keeping your chest warm would prevent respiratory illnesses.

An excellent Period Clothing 101 tutorial!

I have that same vest, but in black. Have a sack coat on the way. As a Townie/Wells Fargo Express agent, I prefer shoes or brogans.
Nice summary. Thanks.
Much appreciated!
That is a Very Fine Hat you’re wearing. It’s a Telescope/Gambler Creased Hat with quite a tall Crown. Very fashionable.
