This is not helpful at all. This tutorial seems aimed more towards people who already know what GTR is, and is just showing many different ways you can use it. However, it does not explain at all what GTR actually is. What about these builds makes it GTR? What makes it different from freestyling or from standard forms such as sandwiches?
Well, one way I learned how to make gtr is to watch other people do it. Like online puyo replays or yt vids. Then I'd imprint the way it should look in my head. Sometimes when I mess up I'd restart, or if I dont get the puyos I want. It may seem like giving up but its a good way to practice, basically teaching yourself the commen dos and donts. Then, when you get better, you'll know how to start and how to finnish it off. Also, when you get better, teach yourself how to make a comeback when you get garbage or do a miss drop. They usually help make your chain even bigger. Hope this helps :)
Okay, I am here to make things a bit better. GTR works by having a set of 3 pop, which then in turn sets an S shape up to pop. Out of this you can do a small sandwich/key chain, and that can give you an easy 5 chain. Once you are done with the base, you need to set up something like a turn around, where the colo(u)r of the top puyo matches the colo(u)r of the little 3 I mentioned before. Afterwards, choose your favorite chain (or just the one that works best with the puyos you have). Stair, sandwich/key or even something else can work here. Make sure to put the colo(u)r of puyo that activates your 'turn around' on top of the last puyo pop of your chain. Then, simply open fire! If you read all of this then have a nice day, and have fun with your newfound puyo skills.

My boyfriend gifted this game to me yesterday and I *suck* at puyo (being Dr. Mario the closest thing I had ever played) and he, also a noob at this game, managed to make a 5-chain in his...6th game. He said he was decent because he played a mini game in mortal Kombat similar to Puyopuyo, I call it bullshit.
Idk if you've learned already or dropped it but I'll try to explain anyway. Basically, a rough goal is to put to colors on the leftmost side like this: ab aab bb any color that isn't b can be below that b on the right and be used for a chain after it! It's surprisingly easy to learn how to use your first puyos to build it, as it allows you to make use of same color pieces as well as different color pieces right off the bat!
As a “new” person to this game Naming It Tutorial was hella click bait. Nothing you said made any sense. Just say advanced tutorials or something. Monkey
Hannot Das schwein No, you're correct. The right side is Tetris, but I don't know if you just weren't paying attention to the title or what. This game isn't just Tetris. It's a mashup of two puzzle games.
A bad tutorial doesn't mean it's a bad game. In the start, it mentions stairs + sandwich chains, which probably means you should learn about those easier tactics before learning this.
Plantimaters he’s saying it’s crap because the game makes no effort to help people learn. It’s a bad game because the RNG can legitimately screw you over at a high level. Don’t believe me? Watch S2L’s video’s (the guy in the video) it constantly screws him over by not providing him with 1 of the 4 colours. I’ve seen him have half the screen stacked and only get 3 greens, and I have seen this multiple times.

I don't understand. This video doesn't explain GTR, or how you start making it. In fact, it's just pro tips.

I can’t do more than 3 chain and I’ve been playing this game for over a year.
Practice doing stairs

6 chain here.
Every time I even try adding more Puyo to the chain, it still directs me into a death thanks to Puyo scrublords.
same, Tetris clicked for me ages ago but puyo never made sense

“Tanaka” I think is the person who popularised the build, and “Rensa” means chain in japanese

I hate tutorials like this. They just go ahead and place everything faster than lighting and expect you to learn it. One reason this game is crap.
