American Christianity is not really what you see on TV. The vast majority are still in small churches sometimes in what we call storefront churches. The vast majority have less than 100 members. Most ministers / pastors have to work a full-time job because there's not enough parishioners to pay them a salary. That is the truth of real Christianity in America, but the flashiness that we see on TV on social media gives a different picture unfortunately. As the one who grew up in church my entire life I thankfully have been to all different levels of churches but I much prefer a small church where I actually have a relationship with my Pastor/Bishop then a 10,000 seat mega Church where my pastor is on TV but I need an appointment and to get through a security team to meet the person.

Wait! How did MAGA get into the synagogue? That is just crazy to me. MAGA is pretty much rooted in Christian nationalism. Nazis have embraced MAGA. I was raised as an evangelical Christian and they only support Isreal because it is the ends to a means. Christian mythology requires for Isreal to exist so the world can end.
I'm 51, and unfortunately, have had a front-row seat to how we got here. There are still some strong believers, but I'd like to suggest something regarding the blind spot that opened the door to this mess, going all the way back to the 70s. When Roe v. Wade occurred, I was witness to a "call to arms" of sorts. That Christians needed to start wielding their political power as a voting block. It's now my belief, that this was their King Saul moment. They did not trust God to show the way forward, but were determined to be like "those around them." They wanted to take up their political cudgel and "effect change for God." Through years of hardening, and continually reaffirming their belief in "change through politics" instead of "change through the transforming power of Christ," we now see a nation of "Christians" who have so utterly walked away from what the Word has taught us about treating the weak, the poor, and the sick, the migrant, and more. I am grieved for you and for all like us who watch on in horror as they appear to be fully embracing "act II" of their king movement. This time, with an actual king. The SCOTUS decision last week absolutely made the person holding the office of the President a Monarch in practice, if not in name. It was set up so that the definitions, including in that ruling, made it all but impossible to question the motives of a President on any "official act." That they were willing to this decision before the election frightens me more than anything. If they are willing to abandon our fundamental ideal that no man is above the law, I cannot see them withholding "crowning" Trump President, no matter how the vote goes. I know the Rs have been preparing cases to challenge the counting of votes beyond midnight, the night of the election. I hadn't given it much credence. But, honestly, after last week's ruling, my faith in SCOTUS standing for law at all is now gone.
@@mikemcaulay9507 It’s like SCOTUS is trying to spark a civil war. But they wouldn’t do that, right? What would be their Christian Nationalist motivation?
I'm a prophet. I've accurately predicted the non-return of Jesus for 54 years in a row without fail. Behold my prophecy!!!! NO need to send money, though. :)
No, you get to be a Christian because you are called to be a Christian. The secular document makes it much easier. There are lots of Christians in China and North Korea and Saudi Arabia that cannot be Christian openly, but are nonetheless Christian. Don’t fall for the lie that the Constitution makes it possible, or the bigger lie that the Constitution makes it required.
I live in Antioch Tennessee, which is a stone's throw from Mt Juliet. I go there quite frequently. Greg Locke gets quite a bit of attention around here, and almost none of it is good. This whole thing sadly does not surprise me one bit.
I grew up in the non-denominational, charismatic Black church. In the charismatic tradition, broadly, being given a "title" is endemic. Lots of "Prophets" and "Apostles". In my experience there are two things going on with these types of people, massive self-delusion and galactic hubris.
I wonder what you believe. It's funny to think but our Jesus was neither a Democrat or Republican. He was the Father. So there you go. Good by to you , I thought I liked you but now I'm not so sure
My very young church years were within a church with this of sermon spewing from the pulpit from the head preacher guy. Further, continued incorrect and immoral political beliefs and actions were met with the denial of a number religious practices by that preacher man to those who dared disobey ad nauseum. Straying to a different church of the same denomination wasnt appreciated much more. And I think the person(s) who reported thier objections to a rung or two up the church hierarchy caught a little extra hell on earth from this preacher man.

I have been around so many autistic children and this is really hurtful to a lot of people. What if his members listen to this awful sermon and believe it? It is shameful. God Bless all autistic children and I pray people will be kind to them. Thank you for your message Rev Trevors.

We're more thankful for that than you'd believe. For a stereotypical Locke moment check out the trolling by fans of Planned Parenthood. His reaction was priceless😂🤣😂
I too am a non believer but I do think that many of the writings in the New Testament regarding love, treatment of the poor, and not to worship money are words to live by. I am saddened by those like Locke who misuse the words of Jesus in the name of power and monetary gain. I always enjoy Rev. Ed's videos.

Spot on, Rev. Ed. I grew up in Berkeley, CA in the late '60's. (Amazing time to be growing into adulthood!) My high school was within walking distance of UC Berkeley. At lunch break, a few of my friends and I would frequently walk to Sproul Hall, on the UC Berkeley campus, and listen to the protest speeches. One of the protest speakers said something one day that I've never forgotten and have practiced my entire life - always question authority. Your video today took me right back to listening to that protest speaker in front of Sproul Hall at UC Berkeley in 1969. So thankful for your channel. God bless.
Read the book of Acts and you will see that the apostles continued to appoint apostles after Jesus ascended. Apostolic succession continues in the role of bishop. You can Google this. This practice continues and is sanctioned by the Catholic Church and Greek Orthodox Church. I am Pentecostal Orthodox and we have bishops however I do agree that churches have taken this to the extreme and people misuse and misunderstand the current titles. And no I do not believe that Greg Locke and his wife are apostles.
"Apostle" means "one who is sent". True apostles are not self-appointed. True apostles are humble servants. They don't claim the "title" of apostle to pretend they're big shots or lord it over people like they're "Numero Uno". They don't exalt themselves; they exault Jesus, the Lord who sent them. Remember what Jesus said about this: “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all." (Mark 10: 42b-44, NIV).
There are only 12 Apostles ever "And the wall of the city had twelve foundations and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." Revelation 21:14
@@ChristinaFromRUclips You are mistaken. Go read it again. Get a concordance. Even the Catholic church disagrees with you. That is the 12 original Apostles. I said to read Acts. I won't be back to continue this. I already told you. If you want to continue to not know, it is now on you.
@@ellec2935 I'm not mistaken. Jesus straight up tells them their purpose-- 12 Thrones to judge the 12 Tribes on Judgment Day. Why would there be 13 or 14 or however many you imagine there are? Luke doesn't even bother calling them Apostles at all and just calls them The Twelve.
This is an accurate example of people who have no fear of Jesus because they don't really have any faith and belief in Him. They think He can be used to make a lot of money and that is their ultimate goal. They must laugh at the members of their congregation who fall for such ridiculousness, all the way to the bank. They are in for a rude awakening when they discover that our Lord is not some effeminate hippie in a dress but an immense awesome being of great power and might who is no doubt very angry at being used for their money making schemes. But they will find out just who it is they are messing with, and I would not choose to be them for all their earthly riches.
Many years ago, my ex son in law said these televangelists were just a business. I disagreed. However looking back at how much money my mother gave them, it rang true. Greg Locke could be a character in a Flannery O’Connor story. “Grotesque” is a reasonable descriptor for him. His preaching style is theatrical and his content is designed to feed extremists. Sadly, there are so many people who are looking for messages like that.
Rev Trevor reminds me that there are good Christians in this world. I am in Texas and all I see is bigotry and hate from people who call themselves Christians. Rev Trevor helps me remember the church I grew up in.
You show so much grace to Mr. Locke. I watched him preach once and it was the most hateful thing I've ever seen in a church. Violent rhetoric, hate, self-aggrandizement. It was awful. If I had never heard the word of God and that was my first experience, I would have run for the hills.
I've been an atheist for my whole life. My parents graciously allowed me to seek my own path and never took me to church or forced me into Christianity. It later made me curious of all religions, so I read some religious texts to see what the hubbub was all about. Old and New Testament, a translation of the Torah, Quran, most of the Vedas....and many older religions. WAY older. Never heard angry religious folks outside of Islam and Christianity. It's crazy. I can't tell the 'good' ones from the phonies. Therefore I classify them all in the same manner.
False teachings have always been a concern to me. And I experienced a church in the early eighties that claimed to have an Apostle. I am so happy that you are speaking out against this falsehood.
Rev Ed ❤ Please never stop doing what you are doing. Your wisdom helps me every day. I just sent your "Presidential Immunity and Another Reason to Vote" video to my cousin who is a Christian, but I do not know my cousin's political affiliation. I also sent information about Robert Morris, a former Trump spiritual advisor, & founder of Gateway (mega) Church who recently resigned after stories of his past sexual abuse of a girl starting at age 12 & continued for 5 years. In addition, I included a quote from a sermon Greg Locke gave in his Global Vision Bible Church, sometime about May 2022: “If you vote Democrat, I don’t even want you around this church. You can get out. You can get out, you demon... You cannot be a Christian and vote Democrat in this nation. I don’t care how mad that makes you. You can get as pissed off as you want to. You cannot be a Christian and vote Democrat in this nation.... You cannot be a Democrat and a Christian. You cannot. Somebody say, ‘Amen.’ The rest of you get out! Get out!” It is offensive to hear many people in America say they are Christian, and yet their actions prove otherwise. 🙏Rev Ed Thank you!
Thank you for addressing all these troubling things happening now. He is a monster to me hateful, and ignorant. I have an autistic son and I saw a clip of him saying it was caused by bad parenting??? These so called preachers and now being called a prophet is beyond any sense. Through our these 8 years since Trump came on the scene I can't get past Christians I know that changed and started being ugly like Greg Locke. These behaviors have caused me to question my beliefs to the core. Thankful for you thoughtful and comforting words Everytime I watch you show, it's been a light in the darkness for me 🙏
Thank you for mentioning this. Friends we have had for decades, are now showing their true colors. Sickening to the guts for sure. Surely these people must have had this hate in their hearts from early on covered over, because how could such hatred come out now after all these years? We even know deacons of the church who are spewing this stuff out. We have left aside friends of many years in the process due to this hatred festering in the churches. These are truly sad times for people working hard within the guidelines given by Lord Jesus.... Very saddening...
“They will cost you something,” not the least of which is your faith in God, the Holy Bible and your compassion for humanity. And always, but always, cold hard cash!
The bible wrapped baseball bat destroying a barbie dream house was one of the funniest things I've seen, Greg's book burnings were the scariest things I've seen
It is very cringy watching a grown man behave that way. And all that yelling and screaming. No wonder everyone's on edge. no hard feelings but, there is nothing sacred nor holy in his teachings.
As a former clergy person from a faith group that doesn't even recognize "apostolic succession" let alone some sort of apostolic office I offer two points in addition to this excellent video. 1. Scripture gives a test for those who would claim to speak for God. Their works (to include words of teaching) will testify to their validity or lack thereof. Those preaching a way for people to be "right" with God of their own acts and not solely on the basis of God's love poured out in Jesus are neither prophets nor apostles. 2. To proclaim that oneself or another speak for God and share another message than the love of God for the entire creation, without exception, by invoking God's name violates the commandment on the vain use of God's name and are heretics and blasphemers whose words should be condemned and refuted.
I had not heard about this trend of making people Apostles; how very dusturbing and weird. Thank you for your wise response to it. Your videos are wonderful.
I laughed at the double entendre "Big "A" Apostle" even though you didn't mean it that way. I love how you accurately describe the original followers of Jesus' distrust of Saul, who became Paul.
Unfortunately, people like Locke are so devoid of any humility, they actually BELIEVE they're deserving of the designation. The easiest person to BS is yourself.
Anybody can claim to speak for God, and in today's world they can claim it very loudly. This is dangerous. I wish people would listen to preachers like Rev. Trevors, but being humble and true to the teachings of Jesus doesn't draw a crowd. Truth, itself, doesn't draw a crowd. Sometimes I want to cry.
As always a great message. I have actually been in that position before and although no harm was meant I did ask them to please not do that. It was an experience as you described saying I served when I didn't. I tried but they wouldn't take me but still.....
The whole video, I pictured the actor Peter Graves portraying someone who revealed false teachers in "Mission Apostle -able". Not with Tom Cruise like arrogance or crazy stunts .. like the old television series that showed how cool and collected they were. Queue the awesome theme music!
The truly enlightened have no need to speak of their enlightenment, they simply have to live by way of Love where does the Light of God's Love enlivens the world! Blessings, Rev Ed!
Ed, my sir, you've now inspired me, in regard to those who claim to be something high and mighty, to now paraphrase the final line of dialogue from the 1957 motion picture, "A Face in the Crowd" - when we get wise to them, that's our strength, so get wise to them. I thank you for this message, Ed.
One of my issues....... The more people getting us all involved in "The End Times ", getting our minds and souls so.full of fear....... the LESS I believe the Bible. Same thing when I joined a Very FALLEN WORLD church. Jesus did something Miraculous inside of me, then I joined a Church that God didn't want me to..... now, I don't believe anymore. And have come to understand, my Mind and Soul were Damaged by this "church" I went to.
Greg Locke dis a sermon the last year or so where he stood and said kids with autism were possessed by demons. That made me beyond upset! His so called sermons where he calls people in his audience witches and demons is more blasphemous than a message from an apostle! I live in East Tennessee and will never recognize him as a real pastor until he truly asks for God's forgiveness and does the job as a real pastor or preacher. He preachers a deadly sermon, not a sermon to bring people closer to Jesus Christ.
I am so amazed by what you said , when you asked us to pray for Greg Lott and his wife , I was tken aback ,but you made me see something I have never seen You showed me how not to dislike or even hate those people, but to pray for them. It's hard to do but I will because I see your point , even though I don't like it. I will do this because I see what Christ would do. He didn't do the easy thing. I'm going to do this and pray I can do it.
I think it's because human nature leans toward power, greed and tribalism. I think those are the things that Jesus came to save us from and bring the kingdom to earth. Many people who lead churches cave in to the siren song of power because they love having control over others.
I can overlook that. What is important to me is how he is walking now. I know a few divorced pastors they are good people who have overcome a difficult time in their lives. It's the garbage coming out of his mouth that I dislike.
Thank You @Rev Ed Trevors for making the distinction over apostolic succession! Too many allow themselves to falsely believe that the Vicar of Rome holds the title of Apostle... Greg Locke & heresy are as common as days that end in "y". However, this is a particularly dangerous one. God will not be mocked and Greg will rue the day, either in this life or the next!

I used to be devout catholic but certain circumstances made me leave the church. I don't trust most reverend, pastor and priests. I completely trust Rev Ed, thank you Rev Ed for bringing me peace. God bless you
I am a Messianic Jew, but I have left the church over MAGA. I listen to you, and I remember why I believe. Thank you for not being like them!
I say the synagogue left me. I'm glad I left before I seen maga put foot down in the synogogue !!!
They did not trust God to show the way forward, but were determined to be like "those around them." They wanted to take up their political cudgel and "effect change for God."
Through years of hardening, and continually reaffirming their belief in "change through politics" instead of "change through the transforming power of Christ," we now see a nation of "Christians" who have so utterly walked away from what the Word has taught us about treating the weak, the poor, and the sick, the migrant, and more.
I am grieved for you and for all like us who watch on in horror as they appear to be fully embracing "act II" of their king movement. This time, with an actual king. The SCOTUS decision last week absolutely made the person holding the office of the President a Monarch in practice, if not in name. It was set up so that the definitions, including in that ruling, made it all but impossible to question the motives of a President on any "official act."
That they were willing to this decision before the election frightens me more than anything.
If MAGA is your problem, then you probably never knew who Jesus Christ was ever!
Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Don't forget for one minute... you get to be a Christian in this country because we have a secular constitution, and we are free to believe.
Greg Locke preaches hate and pushes politics.
Greg Locke preaches hate and pushes politics from the pulpit.
Golden words!
So true!! They tend to forget that, don't they?
I love your Channel. I’m not a Christian, but I respect you and very much enjoy watching your channel.
I got here by way of Beau of the Fifth Column. I'm atheist. I also enjoy this guy!
I grew up in the non-denominational, charismatic Black church. In the charismatic tradition, broadly, being given a "title" is endemic. Lots of "Prophets" and "Apostles". In my experience there are two things going on with these types of people, massive self-delusion and galactic hubris.
Greg Locke said that, " YOU CANNOT BE A CHRISTIAN IF YOU VOTE DEMOCRAT" This is blasphemy ❤😂😅❤😂😅❤😂😅
So he's a RepubliKan?
@@r.d.outlaw5691- Who are you dismissing? Greg Locke is the blasphemer, not the person who quoted him.

I have been around so many autistic children and this is really hurtful to a lot of people. What if his members listen to this awful sermon and believe it? It is shameful. God Bless all autistic children and I pray people will be kind to them. Thank you for your message Rev Trevors.
I'm an atheist who's been following the shenanigans of Locke for years. He is the type we mock so openly. Mostly because we know that 99.9% of Christians are better people than Greg. We're more thankful for that than you'd believe.
For a stereotypical Locke moment check out the trolling by fans of Planned Parenthood. His reaction was priceless😂🤣😂

It appears to me that many so-called christians are not followers of Jesus, especially Greg Locke. I love Rev. Trevors, as he is a follower of Jesus.
I too am a non believer but I do think that many of the writings in the New Testament regarding love, treatment of the poor, and not to worship money are words to live by. Spot on, Rev. Ed.
I grew up in Berkeley, CA in the late '60's. (Amazing time to be growing into adulthood!)
My high school was within walking distance of UC Berkeley.
God bless.
Apostles were chosen, by Jesus. Disciples were made...go forth and make disciples of all the nations. We have no more Apostles today.
There are only 12 Apostles ever
"And the wall of the city had twelve foundations and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb."
Revelation 21:14
I didn't go around telling people I was a good christian, I just acted like a good Christian whenever I have the chance, whenever I have the ability!

Excellent teaching video today. Kudos 🎉🎉🎉🎉 💙 🙏 🙌 thank you
You show so much grace to Mr.
Therefore I classify them all in the same manner.
thank you speaking truthfully, rationally, and civilly.
In addition, I included a quote from a sermon Greg Locke gave in his Global Vision Bible Church, sometime about May 2022:
“If you vote Democrat, I don’t even want you around this church. Get out!”
It is offensive to hear many people in America say they are Christian, and yet their actions prove otherwise.

How did our Church get so messed up? How can people think that these hate spewers have any connection whatever to our blessed Jesus?
