Thanks for sharing! "I feel happy!" That picked me up from my own archery slump. God I love archery. Well, like, I do today. At this particular moment. Thanks!

It's great to see the process of considering distance and angle of the 3D target.
    The enjoyment must be lovely.
    Take care, Jane

What Dale said really. If you're going gap then ranging devices are good for practice, but the temptation is to come to rely on them... Instinctive, you just need to practice staring, and then practice a Lot more. Don't interfere with your brain, it's learning stuff - slooowly.

Hey there. Hang on in there with it. I got to a point that I sold all my bows, ones I'd always wanted to own, because of TP and my shooting hitting gutter level. Stopped going to comps, stopped scoring.
Finally I got my shit together and I bought a compound to shoot alongside my trad setup. The compound showed me I could aim and hold on target I could handle a surprise shot.
My single string game is coming along nicely. Now I need a good mental process and I ll be back on the podium.
You'll get where you want to go if you put the work in. It takes time and effort.
I too felt stressed and anxious just shooting practice. Horrible feeling. Once I actually felt scared and started shaking. All because of a target in a meaningless shoot. Its amazing the terrible tricks our minds can play on us. I would beat myself up after a bad shot....wtf... its not like its paying my mortgage. ...Sucks sometimes!. Like I say stay in there🎯

Flea, if you're going to keep experimenting with gap, try this... adjust your nocking point to where it gives you a 20-25 yard point on... that way your arrow tip is never off of the animal at hunting ranges.. keep at it and don't give up.. enjoy

Remember, to cancel target panic, before releasing just quietly say "lemon meringue pie"

Get out and enjoy yourself, , when I practice I do 1000's of shots at anywhere from 10 yards, 18 yds, 20yds, 23yds, 27yds, 30yds, and finally to 35 yds, then work my way back into same distances to 10yds., again and again, you'll really start getting a true feel for distance. Main thing I keep it fun, I also sometimes go stump shooting, just taking a walk out through the forest, shooting this and that, testing my ability of distance judging. Just walking with bow in hand, and hearing nature, or even nature's silence, calms me. I love bow shooting on a personal level, no contests, no scoring shots, no level of judging myself to other shooters, for ego or any other reason, or any negative thoughts, it's you the bow, and the arrows.

Just stick to shooting for fun for a while. Give yourself time to get shooting well, with a nice consistent shot process.
    Competitions can wait.

That striker bow is looking great! What was the wood? When you were putting the deep woods off on and singing it reminded me of a pee wee Herman movie scene lol.

Hey , don't worry girl you'r not the only one who can't judge distance , I found that I was "over thinking" shots , so now they are just short , medium or long (occasionally very long ) ,,, I still miss though 😏 , you will get there ,, just have fun

try instinctive shooting. I won shooting awards as a young kid, using an old recurve with no guards. Body at 45 degrees towards target, bow hand held directly at shoulder height(break your wrist), When you draw, arm should be parallel to the ground (shoulder height. Grip on string tight, fingers together, thumb on top of cheekbone, just under your eye. sight down the shaft of the arrow so that you actually are only looking at the smallest profile of the arrow you can see (think of it like a dot over your target) stop breathing when you are ready to shoot. let go of the string all at once, kind of like a spring. All this should only take you a few seconds. This will work out to about 30 yards, without having to adjust elevation for distance, using no sights, no mechanical release. my brother and I used to shoot cigarette butts at 20 yards when we were kids. This was with a 45 lb draw weight bear bow.
