@@cameroncarter1696 That's not always the case. There usually has to be a number of factors, one of which is it's in the best interest of the child, for a grandparent to win legal grandparent's rights. Then there's cases like this one where the grandparent tries to use it as a control tactic and actually have no legal rights to their grandchildren.
That grandma is going to cause a world of trouble for that man. He’s going to need some sort of restraining order. She strikes me as the type that isn’t going to be dissuaded by the ruling of a judge.
Hi from England, I just love this judge, she is caring, fair understanding she see right through people and knows if they are pulling the wool over her eyes,
There is no such thing as grandparent's rights that trumps over the father when he is taking care of the children's needs. My ex wife's mother tried to deny me visitation when my ex was living with her. The judge told her that grandparents don't get to dictate the life of their grandchildren unless me or my ex was being neglectful or harming the children. There is no such thing as grandparent's rights.
If the grandmother wanted child support, she must request child custody and visitation. It had not been established that she is even seeing the granddaughter. She wants the money and is not spending it for the granddaughter"s benefit. Really nervy of her.
Yeah I mean I can kind of sympathize with the situation ig, but it does appear that way. If he hadn't been around the child for the last 2 years of her life, why didn't the grandma fight for custody right after she passed or why didn't the mother try and make sure the grandma had custody when she passed. Like why wait a full year if it's really important to you
Commendations to the judge. I can only imagine how this grandmother must grill that child when she sees her. Imagine the stories that grandma fabricates about the dad as well🤨
I know a man who lost his wife and he was left with 2 little girls. He had a babysitter 3 evenings a week. 2 of those evenings he spent doing household stuff like grocery shopping, laundry and he said he was glad the girls had female company even though their mum wasn't around. The third evening he played chess with his father. As far as I remember that went on until the youngest was about 15. So grandma should not assume any neglect just because a babysitter answers the phone

The daughter passed away so the father should automatically get his daughter. Parent's rights trumps grandparents. It's sad she lost her daughter but she needs her daddy.
I was in a somewhat similar situation. My parents were going to get divorced and my mother was going to release all parental rights to me. She never wanted me in the first place. However, my father was killed by a drunk driver before the divorce was final, so by state law at the time I was ordered to be returned to my mother. I was almost four at the time so my memories were developing. I went through two years of hell with her, physical and mental abuse trying to turn me into what she really wanted, a girl (I'm male). After two years, she finally decided I wasn't worth the effort and shipped me to her parents. They called my father's mother and said "either you take IT (yes, they said IT), or IT is going to foster care." My father's mother (my Grandma ❤❤❤❤❤) got me that day and she raised me from age six to adulthood.
How is that similar to this though? The father wants his child. The grandmother is being vindictive. I'm glad you found a loving parent. Some people just shouldn't be parents.

They don't have the legal right unless a judge order it, but they have a moral right and the children should have the presumptive right to see them. I don't understand how it this related to the video.
It depends on the state. Some states have grandparents laws where the grandparents DO have rights to see their grandkids in cases like this (a relationship between the child and grandparent is already established and the parent has passed away). However, visitation, custody, and child support are three different things.
@@jaimeduncan6167 Texas, where this case is, has grandparent rights. However, it's very difficult to get even visitation. This grandmother went about it the wrong way. Instead of demanding primary custody and child support, she could have asked for visitation because it would be in the child's best interest seeing as she lived with her grandmother for the 2 years mom was dealing with cancer treatments. All grandma kept saying was dad abandoned mom not that he abandoned the child.
Under Texas statutes, grandparents have a right to sue for managing conservatorship in a two situations. The first situation is when there is proof that the child's present circumstances with his or her parents would significantly impair his or her emotional or physical health (e.g. abuse, neglect or other harm). Since she is CLAIMING the word of a 6yr old she dies not have a flying chance in hell to get custody. She can get a PI, but the cost would be so exorbitantly high she'd be broke.
She might have had a case if she stuck with the fact the child lived with her for the past 2 years mom was going through cancer treatment and it would be in the best interest of the child to have some type of contact with her still; however, primary custody is NOT the way to go. Just because he "abandoned" her daughter doesn't mean he did so to his daughter.
THEY were split up BEFORE her diagnosis. HE PAID child support until SHE DIED. HE being the sole surviving parent got full custody of HIS child. I'd be getting a R O against grandma and moving FAR AWAY
Probably assumes he can’t raise the child because he’s a man. Completely wrong-sincerely a young woman raised by a single dad who has her life together and got out of an abusive mom situation and is somehow STILL well-adjusted.
I'm sorry grandma that you lost your daughter but you can't replace her with a baby that you won't be able to keep up with as the child grows. At least he stepped up when the child needed him to. Most dad's wouldn't even want their own child around
Yeah I'm not sure about the dads not wanting to be around their own kids. My dad was always present in my life and so were most of my friends father's. I'm sorry if that's not the case for you, I really am! But that's a pretty big generalization
I remember a similar case with a friends relative. The Irish judge to get the grandparents to drop the case; made the mother continue to pay child support, but to herself...
With all due respect, a grandparent has no authority over a legal biological parent. Many state laws even allow a biological mother whose a drug addict, to keep her child even if the father is more of a fit. The system is backwards. -- All I see is a grieving Mother who needs counseling for her unfortunate loss. Lymphoma is one of the most recoverable and treatable cancers to get so to lose a child from that, very sad.
Grandma not happy - she don't like him probably never did - wasn't her choice for her daughter - now she wants payback - hope the daughter never sees this because it will open a huge can of worms.
How did this case even get a hearing if she wasn't the parent? She had no case and I wouldn't have shown up! If grandma isn't careful he could just move out of state and tell her to kick rocks!
Great question. Many people file cases and lack standing, i.e. they don’t have legal grounds to seek relief from court. In some cases, however, non-parents have standing.
The father said that the marriage was over before her diagnosis. This grandmother must be used to getting her way. The dad paid child support and support for the ex wife. Maybe dad should move far away from grandma
This one is absolutely hilarious to me! I was a responsible person at 23 that knocked up a junkie that did everything she could to try and keep me from getting custody of our newborn child. I hired a lawyer and jumped thru every damn hoop required of me to get custody and I did! Her non existent father and step mother tried their damndest to keep custody from being given to me and it backfired on them every single time! The one single greatest time was when I had my own grandmother with me to pick up my son and they tried to make a scene about it not realizing that my grandmother was sitting in the car watching everything. There’s no better feeling than knowing you are in the right and other people see it while the trixters get caught up in their own lies!
I would've asked for a restraining order against the ex-MIL. If she's trying something legally, she might try something illegally as well. With a restraining order it won't be his word agasint her (odds to her favor), but the opposite.
This Judge is so wise, this Grandmother wanting money for a child that doesn't even live with her is absurd. She needs to be careful or crazy gran will end up losing her granddaughter and actually you can tell by her attitude that parental alienation is already taking place and this father should perhaps re-evaluate what access this woman gets to his daughter.
Nope. Dealing with in-laws in general is super annoying. My advice is to go for the orphans. Lol just kidding. People should be with whoever they want.
I agree with many others and I think that the father should his phone number change and make sure that his child is happy and show proof that there's been no wrongdoing to the child so the grandmother can't prove it
Kind of sad but Mom’s wayyyyy off if there been no report of neglecting that child then she has no case, am thinking family court would tell her the same thing. It’s sad but grandparents don’t really have as many rights, as they think they do.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as the child is 1. Clothed 2. Fed 3. Performing up to average standards in school 4. Not in danger, the father is not in the wrong? Let's say Grandma is right, the children are safe with a babysitter while the father chooses to go out. How does the Grandma not know the father doesn't spend 5-8:45pm exclusively on his children leaving to go out at 12pm while leaving his children to be watched by a responsible adult? Having a babysitter is not illegal lol.
Hopefully the bitter grandma swallows her pride and disdain for the son in law and continues to stay in touch with her granddaughter. And not speak ill of him in front of her. If she does that the grandchild will not want to be around her. Hope she keeps her mouth shut before she loses the last piece of her daughter. What a shame that would be.
from someone with personal experience i’m sensing the dad might be a alcoholic and is a unfit parent is the grandmother a lil nosey yes but if the dad is have babysitters all the time he’s not spending time with his kid but sadly legally that’s not enough evidence for any action to take place

Pretty sure a dead parent and then the other spending the majority of time at the bar and not raising them is also hurtful to the child better to be in a stable good home with no “parents” then with an alcoholic father
She is just a busy body and a countrol freak. She was able to manipulate the daughter and most likely a big reason the marrage failed. he needa a stay away order and keep that child away from her
Grand mother is lonely. Sorry but you can't make up a loss daughter with your
granddaughter.
Yup, “ms” was a dead giveaway for that.
On the plus side, the guy has a reason, and hopefully does, keep the kids out of the toxic grandmothers life.
Grumpy Granny!!!
Not true the grandparent has birth rights to there grandchildren
@@cameroncarter1696 That's not always the case. There usually has to be a number of factors, one of which is it's in the best interest of the child, for a grandparent to win legal grandparent's rights. Then there's cases like this one where the grandparent tries to use it as a control tactic and actually have no legal rights to their grandchildren.
@@cameroncarter1696 not if it jeopardize the child.
That grandma is going to cause a world of trouble for that man. He’s going to need some sort of restraining order. She strikes me as the type that isn’t going to be dissuaded by the ruling of a judge.
Grandma better have a change of attitude if she wants to see her g daughter.
She is going to be a thorn in his side until the day she dies and beyond.
Grandma tripping! She wants apart of her daughter , learn how to love from a distance.
You do your job right on every case. You are the best.
Thank for very much!🤗
Your more than welcome
Judge you be on top of these ppl! The right way on the law side! Other words fair!
All this grandma did was make sure he keeps that child away from her. I know I don’t want my son around any crazy family members 🤷🏻♀️
You handled this case so Beautifully
I love watching your show to see the father's being treated fairly a lot of mothers tried to hurt the father sometimes that can be discouraged them from doing their part but I love you help a lot of these parents with the support that they should have been got for these children keep up the good work
He's totally right on this situation he's her father and she's underage at 6 years old... I have a four year old little girl that's with me 50/50 which isn't fair I was fighting for full custody.. I proved to the court about my daughter's mother how bad of a drug addict and alcoholic she is with seven DUIs the courts still was unfair I might be half.. the court systems are unfair in the state of Wisconsin they go for the women no matter what no matter how bad she is and how much you proved that she's unfit to take care of any child.. my daughter is so happy with me and she is my world even her teacher has said you are a great father and a great provider for your daughter it shows in school you're all she talks about and how much she loves you she's a very smart little girl because of you this is what her teacher said she says I know the core systems are unfair it's a good single fathers like you.. I know there's a lot of good Fathers out there that are going through the same thing I am I know it's unfair we need more better judges in Wisconsin and everywhere else around the world there are a lot of great fathers out there to all your good Fathers keep your head up stay solid and keep praying and believing God knows you are doing a great job take care and God bless
Would be interesting to see a video covering interstate cases.
his child not yours
Grandparents don't have rights to their grandchildren. Unless the parents are deemed unfit but would still need a court to grant them Guardianship or custody.
My dad tired to claim this crap with me. It didn't end well, he went from having access to my kids to completely cut off.
My mom would always threaten me to get control of my daughter when she was an infant. Instead of teaching me how to do things to care for my child, she would threaten to take her away. 😮😢
Let me start by saying I watch quite a few of your videos and find you to be a very level-headed judge and it's nice to see a judge that looks out for all parties and not just one side thank you it means a lot to guys like me they've gotten the short end of the stick just because we're mail
Being a male is already hard but imagine being a mail phew I couldn't imagine
When she said he spends a lot of time in bars i was half expecting for him to say he's a bartender
100% Correct On Everything.. I Bet That Grandmother Was All Up In Her Daughters Marriage Business.. She Just Seems Like The Type.. She's Probably The Underlining Cause Of The Kid's Parents Divorce..
I agree. This happens so often too.
Ohhh you’re probably right.
I agree. They split up BEFORE her diagnosis and death. Vonda really nailed Grandma good.
You can smell the rage in "grandma" that she won't get custody of someone else's child to poison against him and collect free money. Bet you she was instrumental in the breakup of her daughter's marriage.
I am living through this nightmare right now, my ex passed away 3 years ago and my youngest is 21 now.
Yet they are still hounding me for support.
They keep saying its a mistake but every month I get another letter/bill demanding payment and the arrearage keeps adding up.
Simple. Those family court crooks want their cut of the child support money. Tell them to f off. Your ex melted like all witches so no one else to pay money to.
@@Aenarion28 that’s uncalled for.
@@miekaash6831 how so? Face facts, women need men. If feminists were serious about not needing a man, there would be no child support.
But there is, and the way it is calculated is retarded and people wonder why women are being killed by exes...
@@Aenarion28 You’re insane dude, you call all women witches and then justify men murdering there exes over child support? I’m no femenist but you’re crazy.
@@sloklubolisen2577 crazy world we live in now. But it is true. When women pull their gold digger and bitter ex shit and are beaten and killed, if not saying I condone it but I can understand why it happened to them
The daughter passed away so the father should automatically get his daughter. Parent's rights trumps grandparents. It's sad she lost her daughter but she needs her daddy.
Granny only cares about the money, selfish wow the kid doesn't even live with her
I was in a somewhat similar situation.
Grandma will be calling CPS as quick as she can
Grandmother needs to have several seats! No maybe a 🏟 stadium
Stadium!😂😂😂
CC WW Riiiiiiggghhhttt. Hahahaaaaa
she wants money for herself had a lifestyle now its over ,
@@JudgeVondaB ,I have a question ma'am! What happens when support finally stops and you have a credit of over 5000.00! How do you get that money owed? I have a support order out of Florida where they garnish my wages from DFAS, I'm retired military and reside in Texas! Will a check be sent to me afterwards or will I have to sue the Florida Child Support Division or sue my ex?
@@I__Love_Lamp I recommend you take this to Reddit lol you won't find a solid answer here my dude but I can almost guarantee you there's people on Reddit that be knowing
Grandparents falsly think they’re entitled to rights of visitation. This is not the case.
All 50 states have Grandparents' rights. Each state has their own statute.
Entitled being the operative word.
She probably treated him terrible while they were married. She acts like she is better than anyone.
I'm sorry grandma that you lost your daughter but you can't replace her with a baby that you won't be able to keep up with as the child grows. At least he stepped up when the child needed him to. Most dad's wouldn't even want their own child around
Most dads wouldn't like hearing you say that !
Yeah I'm not sure about the dads not wanting to be around their own kids. My dad was always present in my life and so were most of my friends father's. I'm sorry if that's not the case for you, I really am! But that's a pretty big generalization
You must make poor choices in men, all the men I know want their children,
I love that judge. Mwah ily so much. Great judge. Alot of people are so selfish
Thank you so much!

Very bitter Granny!!! Thinks she can just waltz right in!!!
I remember a similar case with a friends relative. The Irish judge to get the grandparents to drop the case; made the mother continue to pay child support, but to herself...
Y’all too good at acting ❤️❤️ am now an addict and sometimes I forget that this isn’t real 🤣🤣
Wait... This is not real?
AD EN no it’s not .
I looked her up.. real judge
Oh u right it isn't real...shes an attorney not a judge in real life..its pretty much an educational show to teach u about how cs court works
Why did I see this man now it’s not good anymore
I need a her for my case I love how she actually wants to hear the back stories. Past two judges I saw only looked at numbers and that was it.
This isn’t real.
It’s a smart move to get back stories, I think it helps out a lot to get a picture of what’s going on. I feel you see the bigger the picture.
She is a judge of the Texas 255th district court. She was appointed on January 1st,2023.
At least the dad has stepped up for his child. Sounds like he needs to move another state away from this woman
Nah she’d use her retirement to make court cases in her state and force his appearance or legal attorneys appearance to HUGELY inconvenience the Dad.
You can hear the pain in his voice and see it in his face.
Grandma not happy - she don't like him probably never did - wasn't her choice for her daughter - now she wants payback - hope the daughter never sees this because it will open a huge can of worms.
Grandma heart is in the right place
She WILL put a neglect charge/accusation on that man to try to take the child.
And she said what she just said with a straight face.
She's trying to take control of whats left of her daughter, instead of just staying in her grandchild's life...
You did well in your judgement! Child is only young and has a parent.
Family Law...ugh..
Stay healthy and stay safe.
Australia...
Thank you! You stay safe and healthy as well!
She is not a real judge.... she is a licensed attorney that's what I read
I would've asked for a restraining order against the ex-MIL. If she's trying something legally, she might try something illegally as well. With a restraining order it won't be his word agasint her (odds to her favor), but the opposite.
She's very fair no matter what color comes in her courtroom whether it's a man or a woman asking for a support keep up the good work Ms vonda B
If he isn't abusing his child, he has full legal rights. Grandma has no legal ground.
I believe grandma want that income to continue her lifestyle.
How do you need child support if the child doesn’t live with you.
Can you imagine having to deal with in laws like this?
Nope. Dealing with in-laws in general is super annoying. My advice is to go for the orphans. Lol just kidding. People should be with whoever they want.
They don't call them monsters in law for nothing.
Grandma needs to mind her own business unless she has proof her grandchild is being abused. Sounds like she just wanted the kid for child support.
lol imagine he's the bartender
It seemed like grandma is using the grand daughter to replace her daughter. Unfortunately thats not how it works. Very unfortunate situation.
Granny just heartbroken sad smh
Hold on now! Why would he pay his deceased wife child support?? Why would she look for the payments to be added to her deceased daughter account?
Grand parents have no rights. The biological father has all the rights.
I was fully expecting the grandmother would win everything. Amazing that she didn't, truly.
I agree with many others and I think that the father should his phone number change and make sure that his child is happy and show proof that there's been no wrongdoing to the child so the grandmother can't prove it
Has this lady never heard of a live in nanny, not saying that this man can afford or can't afford one but if I'm not mistaken that is an actual job
Kind of sad but Mom’s wayyyyy off if there been no report of neglecting that child then she has no case, am thinking family court would tell her the same thing. It’s sad but grandparents don’t really have as many rights, as they think they do.
This judge is a hot mess and I love her!!!! She don’t play! But I LOVE how she sips her tea while kicking butt😎😎😎
Dad's Rock. 💯
Plz continue being the best judge in the world 💯
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as the child is 1. Clothed 2.
What a nut. You can't get child support for a child who doesn't live with you.
Yesssss support court🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 happy.
Gonna give the grandmother a grief pass since she lost her daughter recently.
Her daughter passed a year ago, which means she filled for court in the middle of her "grief". She's just being insane and controlling 🤷🏾♂️
Nope. No excuse for being a shit person. We all face trials and tribulations in life, grief included.
Judge didn’t want to say he could possible be sleeping with the babysitter😂 I am dead
from someone with personal experience i’m sensing the dad might be a alcoholic and is a unfit parent is the grandmother a lil nosey yes but if the dad is have babysitters all the time he’s not spending time with his kid but sadly legally that’s not enough evidence for any action to take place
That's why he devours the daughter. Like mother Like daughter
