  • Yes, Asian Fit sunglasses are a thing. Rob, Sarah and Sergio go over what it means to need Asian Fit sunglasses and why if you have to ask, you probably don’t need them. So if the bottom of your glasses constantly touch your cheeks or your eyelashes hit the back of your lenses… you may need Asian Fit sunglasses.

    I just bought the Asian fit Oakley Targeline sunglasses and it definitely made a whole lot of difference. My old Oakley sunglasses were always resting on my cheeks and against my eyelashes. Much more comfortable.

    I've owned various Oakley glasses before... Mag Switch, Holbrook, Holbrook Metal, Flak 2.0, Inmate, Deviation, Plaintiff Squared, X Squared.... but it was only until I came across the Badman that I felt that there was a problem... they were just way too big and I never truly noticed before (even if I go for aviators) from any of the other models. I bought it anyway for collective purposes but I didn't know there were "Asian Fit" versions. I'm glad I came across this video, thanks for sharing and answering some of my personal questions.

    I have a pair of the Oakley Asian fit Crosslink frames. The plastic nose piece is worn and doesn't latch securely. Is it possible to get a spare nose piece. It looks like a simple screw on replaceable part. Thanks - you should do more Asian fit videos

  • @Falcata

    I have the Oakley Flak Draft and have this same problem. It's especially annoying when I'm riding my bike in the drops. Because the glasses don't sit on my nose properly there's nothing the nose pads can grip onto. Is it possible to just replace the nose pads to resolve this issue, or is the design entirely different?

    This is a great video. Here in Australia it is sad and amazing how Oakley staff know so little about Asian fit, saying that its just the nose bridge that''s different, when clearly its not just that. It just amazes me because there are a lot of people with these facial features but it is not something that seems to be well known or advertised in my experience (by retail staff). Theres no point if they provide really good optics if they just slide off your face or irritate you the whole time you are wearing them.

  • @bjsmind

    The Holbrook Rx 54 eye size isn't Asian fit. I am wary of choosing it since it is close in size to the Holbrook XS that sat on my cheeks. Any thoughts? I don't like the regular sized Holbrook low bridge fit since it's 2-3mm wider.

  • @place_desjardins
    @place_desjardins 2 месяца назад

    It's pretty accurate what they said. You can find sunglasses with wider frames and shorter height lenses to help with fitment, but your eyelashes end up touching the back of the lenses. Somebody thought "asian fit" was racist and complained about it, so Oakley has re-labeled it as "low bridge fit".

    This also helps for people with giant eyelashes like myself...I mainly buy my prescription eyeglasses from Oakley because of their TruBridge fit and now buy Asian fit when I can't get TruBridge in the style I want and it's night and day... My wife always gave me a hard time about complaining about having to clean my glasses all of the time because... As she puts it... Oh your beautiful giant eyelashes making it hard to see I'm so sad (sarcastically) lol... It helps that i have a giant Italian nose 2 so Asian fit looks much better or TruBridge technology... #struggleisreal

    How about if you just want extra padding in the nose piece for shock absorption and safety? Is "Asian fit" the only way to go?

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  Год назад

      Hi! Generally speaking an Asian Fit (Low bridge fit or omni fit) will have more pronounced padding at the bridge. However, and depending on intended used the frames, there are other models that have more volume of rubber at and across the bridge. For example, the WileyX Gamer is an ASTM rated safety frame for sports and has one of the most protective bridges available for impact and shatter protection. However if you're not looking for sports frame, then some like the Maui Jim Keokea is a suitable example of model with larger than average nosepadding.

      For the Flak 2.0 the answer is no. THe fraem is actually a different size for the Asian Fit versus the "standard" fit. On the Orginal Flak Jacket AKA the Flak 1.0 the lenses from a "standard" fit will work in the Asain fit as the frame sizing is the same. Hope that helps! - Sunglass Rob

    • @sportrxeyewear

      We hadn't heard that yet - interesting!
      The 2140F has a more prominent nose piece which should fit better on a low bridge. There is also the obvious, which is that the Wayfarer Ease does not have so much pantoscopic tilt.

      Hey E&E! It will vary differently from each person. We have had some customer come in and the Asian fit frame actually fits them better than the original model. However, we've had plenty of customers come in and the Asian fit frame was a terrible fit for them. As for trying them on before purchasing that won't be a problem at all. We have a test run program that allows you to try on frames. Essentially you will pay for the non-Rx frames but it will be a down deposit until we get the frames back. Once we receive the frames we will refund you right away but this gives you a chance to try them on before making a final decision.
