  • The crab ride is a fundamental part of modern jiu jitsu. This is one of the best drills to understand the crab ride and it starts with how to orientate yourself in the inverted position better. It isn't natural to be upside down in our daily lives. We spend most of our adult lives either sitting or operating on our two feet, so something like passing seems much more intuitive. I am here to help break down the complexities of the inverted Berimbolo positions.
Start with this drill and let me know how you get on. If you have any questions or another video you’d like to see, just leave a comment. If you like this video, check out my other instructionals: www.jiujitsux.com/profile/margot-ciccarelli/
    ▽ABOUT ME▽
I'm Margot, a 5-time Brazilian jiu jitsu World Champion and high performance coach. I took my first BJJ class in the UK just before my 19th birthday and I'm now a black belt at Unity Jiu Jitsu in New York under Murilo Santana.
I’m passionate about providing world class Brazilian jiu jitsu coaching to anywhere in the world, because for most of my career I was based in Europe and Asia, without access to high level jiu jitsu. My aim is to win with beautiful, superior movement quality and not just win for winning’s sake.

can you talk about ways to get into berimbolo besides from de la riva. Like my oponnent has a really good de la riva pass so its hard for me to play my bolo game with de la riva only. Can you show entries from like 50/50 or from like other gaurds like lasso or half or something. Thank you, i love the videos

what do you do when they attack the knee bar?

    • @MargotCiccarelliBJJ

you mean when if they are able to pull the leg to the inside right? If that's the case in my experience, I'm usually trying to use my crab ride hook to create a certain amount of internal rotation of my partner's knee so it is latched onto the leg in a way that becomes very difficult to pull to the inside space for the knee bar. If it's something else, feel free to let me know

I also have trouble controlling the crab ride position. My opponent is pulling hard on one of my legs making it harder for me to rotate and eventually ending up in 50/50 🤔
