She ran up on that stage so full of life and energy. She looked and seemed decades younger than someone in their 70s. RIP Skeeter Davis🙏 I hear this song in my head a lot lately
Rest in peace, Miss Skeeter Davis. 🙏 You had such a beautiful voice, and though I've never met you, I'd bet that you were probably a very sweet woman and a kind soul, in person. Thank you for your many priceless contributions to country music. May God bless your soul.
@@raymarner7940 I keep hearing this same comment regarding this song... Pardon my ignorance on the matter, but is "Fallout" a movie or TV series? I just have not seen any recent movies, and I haven't had cable TV in 19 years, nor do I really watch any of today's television shows (though I DO enjoy occasionally watching some of the programs of the '70s, '80s, and '90s, that I watched as a child/teenager/young man.
@@theBigLubarski_1977 It’s a video game (Fallout 4)! It has a bunch of “old” songs, including this one. Honestly, that also brought me to this song, and I don't regret it :)
I was just 13 years old when this song was released in 45 rpm vinyl record and was sold out in the record stand with my parents scrambling to have a copy of this very wonderful record!!!
She didn't "lose" anything. People shouldn't say that people "lost" just because they go on to live in paradise forevermore - just like my brother didn't lose his 15 year epileptic battle. They both won, and now they can rest. The only "loss" is the feeling that we feel of not being able to see our loved ones day to day, but they can always see us and know our entire life story once they transcend into the afterlife. They aren't truly gone but with us forever. When we dream a good dream, we see a glimpse of the other side for what it is. Happiness and love is also them shining through to us. Eternal happiness and love is what is felt on the other side.

Wikipedia is known for errors, but good ol' wiki says her final performance of the song was at the Grand Ole Opry in 2002. I inferred 2002 as Wikipedia says her cancer returned in 2001, and "the following year" she performed it at the opry. Maybe some skeeterphiles on here can set the record straight. Anyway, for some reason I had thought she had passed young, back in the 60s. I'm glad she had more time than that, and wish she had even more than 2004. _And that gorgeous song is an iconic masterpiece._ RIP
