That is just wonderfully explained!! Knowing myself, making this journal would be the funnest and probably only thing I would get done. I gotta do this!
I can see you're driven , resourceful , resilient, and smart . Your planning and presentation skills makes you a natural to post this well presented and articulated episode. Really enjoy your channel . My greatest fear is being blocked by time and/or resources not to mention the psychological aspects of anxiety, fear, and the feeling of "confinement" of the plan. However , you have people dependent on you or you on them , so it's important to set expectations , to get "buy-in" to successfully push forward . But, a given , it's important to be flexible , not be hard on yourself , make needed adjustments along the way , and be wary of scope creep. Along with time , task, goal elements , there's also the financial side - ie , to be on top of it which can affect ones' direction . Not to give an excuse , but sometimes it comes down to TARP - Time and Resources Permitting (lol) . Wish you all the best always not only in 2023 but beyond !
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts Scott! To be honest I think I'm terrible at managing my time, and that's the biggest anxiety I face with quitting my job: what if I achieve nothing at the end of the day, and have no one else to blame? Would I have to admit that I don't have what it takes to do what I love for a living, that all my previous bosses are right? That's why I made this video. I often set expectations too high for myself and end up beating myself up over not achieving overly ambitions goals. Your point on time and resources are absolute right - this year I want to make sure I plan enough time and resources for the things that truly matter, and try not to be too hand on myself. My planning system is still a work in progress. Will share more once I try it out for a bit and further refine it:)
just use Azure Devops to set your goals as Epics and Features for your KRs - parent your story points will then lead you to your weekly / periodic sprints - and i dont work in tech, most corporations outside tech have already adopted Agile Operating Model for almost a decade. Also Odd that u mentioned u r a Prog Manager, most agile environments got rid of Silos and 1 person manager roles as squads emerged to be empowered to make decisions and pivot as a team. Your unhappiness doesnt seem to be channelled through into your restro meetings/cadence?
Hey Just started watching your videos and I have to say they are amazing 🙌, as person who is weak in Chinese it would be godsend if u decide to make a video on taobao and online purchases in general!
Sounds like a lot of work, but I guess it should help you structure things. Personally I've already plenty of issues keeping a simple to do list up to date.....🤣🤣 and over time I get only more disorganised. I feel I should demote myself to my previous job (helpdesk) with small tasks, no responsibilities or worries and a sense of actually helping people.
It took so long to figure out this planning system and to make this video, and in the process I kept realizing there are missing parts. Besides the planner I also have a to do list on my phone, and if I don't have a to do list for one day I won't get anything done that day😂 And I tell myself if I'm running low on money one day (highly likely) I want to promote myself to be a barista - much more pleasant than what I do now🙈
I just came back from the Agile video recommended in your description and it’s so valuable!! ❤

Ooh that OKR system definitely got me interested. I’ll have to do more research thanks!
I am always looking forward to your videos, excited that you'll be posting more this year! All the best for 2023 :)))
Thank you, and all the best to you too!!!
