    THERE ARE TWO OTHER THINGS IT COULD BE: Your Transmission control module could be going bad. Sometimes this is separate from the Transmission itself and can be replaced without replacing the entire transmission.
    ALSO. It could just be a grounding issue. Check to make sure that the ground connector from your battery to your chassis is secure. If there is a lose ground connection usually the Transmission is the first thing to show symptoms (in my experience)

    I find the feeling of a transmission going out where it slows down really hard and the vehicle dives forward is sometimes a misfiring cylinder. I had that problem in an F-150 I had and thought the automatic transmission was going out, nope just the garbage Triton engine misfiring and no shop wanted to touch the spark plugs. I replaced that with a 2001 Tacoma with a manual and I thought the transmission needed to some TLC or was just that tough because I would let off the gas in any gear and the vehicle would slow down suddenly and dive one day. It ended up throwing a code that sent me on a hunt for vacuum leaks which I fixed, then replaced the PCV valve in the end. Runs like new.

My mechanic guaranteed their parts and labor for a year, so they replaced at no charge to me. Everything was fine, then it started doing it again, about 6 more months later. Took back to mechanic, and they honored their guarantee again. Not sure why the module kept crapping out, but it apparently had affect the engine and tranny adverse,y through all that, and the repairs were gonna cost more than the car was at that point, so i began car shopping.. lol

    It depends on the kind of transmission a dual clutch for instance is designed to shift hard because it's literally the fastest kind of gear based transmission currently in existence. Don't take blanket advice like this do some research on your car specifically if you are noticing something out of the ordinary. All of this kind of stuff is pretty common sense stuff that anyone would notice as not normal.

    I had an old automatic Toyota back in high school in the 90’s and all of a sudden it wouldn’t shift into gear from park. I checked the transmission fluid (while on) and the dipstick wasn’t even picking up the fluid. Then I added transmission fluid and then life was good again, worked fine.

      Can you explain what a transmission tune is? Someone else mentioned this concerning the shudder in the 5th and 6th generation Camaros. After flushing and changing the torque converter their car still had the problem. They found out it was in the tune. But I've only seen one video addressing it. Is that just like a regular tune up? Sorry can't find much info on it and I'm not the best at cars! 🥺

    • @nthgth
      @nthgth 2 месяца назад +1

      @@AmarisLWit's just that for an automatic transmission, the computer has a good amount of say over how "hard" it shifts. With nothing wrong or malfunctioning, the computer "tune" can call for harder shifts if the owner prefers it (usually also a _faster_ shift so it could actually be beneficial).
      This video (and those Camaros you mention) is about when it is NOT in the tune, i.e. when the computer is "trying" to shift smoothly as normal but it isn't because of some malfunction.

      Could be a dirty filter. When the fluid is cold it doesn't pass through but as it warms up enough can get through the dirty filter that it will work. I had an old 76 Ford Elite that was the same way for a couple of years. Eventually I replaced it with an 81 Thunderbird 🙂

      When my truck started not wanting to go into reverse I just go to neutral, let clutch out, then push it back in and she goes into reverse slicker than snot. In old cars reverse had no syncronizers so we always did that or the gears would grind. 1st gear was that way, too.

    I dont see scottie telling anyone the transmission IS the most neglected component of most cars. It's best to check your transmission fluid on a regular basis and have the filter and fluid changed at manufacturer recommended intervals as well as when any of these symptoms happen.
    The pray thing is sounds like a preparation for your getting a big bill when it may not be the actual case. If the fluid has a dark color with a burnt smell put a few drops off the dip stick and look for particles on the paper. A sure sign of a filter and fluid flush and fill. But thats best case senario

The dealership experience was horrible. The excuse, week after week, month after month, was that the couldn’t get approval from Hyundai Customer Care. Only after getting an attorney involved, did they finally take the car back. During that time, they didn’t give me a loaner vehicle. I spent over $16,000 for 1 1/2 years of rental car expenses. I was expecting full reimbursement, but they only reimbursed $4000. What a scam! I finally went down the street and bought a Toyota Camry. I learned a lesson. I hope you avoid what I experienced.
