KYD's Quick Guide to Ouray, CO keepyourdaydream.com/ouray We know more about a place when we leave. Including how to pronounce it! ;) Usually, we're unable to do it all, but we hear things. Trish got the idea to put together a KYD Quick Guide of where to stay, what to eat and what to do! This is the first one and we'd love to know your thoughts? It's a fair amount of extra effort, but we think it might be helpful for your trip if you follow in our footsteps.
Guessing you found out the ‘O’ is silent? Great video from my neck of the woods. Lake City is an awesome area, not too far from where your at, that allows you to see the head waters of the Rio Grande that is a 20 min drive over the hill.
Ever since I started watching your videos they have always made me feel a certain way. Today, watching your travels through Colorado I’ve finally put a word to the feeling. Hopeful. I still have a few years before I can get on the road full time, and here as of late I’ve actually been worried that day may never come. This world has flipped upside down and feels fearful and threatening to me right now. Channels such as yours gives me a true sense of peace and hope. You’re showing us all that it’s still ok out there and that our dreams can still be fulfilled. Thank you and continued blessings to your family.
Our state parks opened on May 29th. We set up camp and didn't leave until yesterday, June 7th. :) We had a great time in our little Autum Ridge, meeting new people, hiking, bike riding.... So glad to finally be free again! Have fun all and stay safe.
Who knew a hammock could hold so many goodies...next time I'm doing what Trish does, snack, book, drink, speaker, pillow and blanket and the drinks OMG you are a genius...I just love how Charlie is getting to go everywhere and he really is such a good boy...can't wait for next Sunday...travel safe, love Peggy
I agree with you when it comes to not visiting things that are close bye. We take where we live for granted, this weekend I visited a beautiful campground where a friend stays, 14 minutes from my house. Within feet of their campground on the mountain, they have a private staircase to the creek where you can kayak or tube for miles, plus miles of free hiking. Explore, yes, but don't forget to look in your own backyard for gems as well...😁👍
Best simple moment ever when the trucker blew his horn. Your collective reactions were so great. Perfectly captured the whole road trip family vibe that your channel is all about!
Dang it! You all have me hooked! I've been watching the last 3 seasons. Great content! Really appreciate the work that you go through to provide it to us. I get it ain't all fun and games... Things I MOSTLY want to know about. (you can't please us all)... We live in Phx so feel a bit of a kinship with you all. My wife and I just got back yesterday from a week and a half on the road in Eastern CO in an ultra light WITH our 6 yrear old grandson. Enjoyed it a ton. Now we're looking at something bigger and more self contained. I guess, I just wanted to thank you all again for your content and make sure you know how much we appreciate (and envy a bit) what you do. Please keep it coming. And...Safe travels please!
I've been watching on an off for a little over a year. At 56 I'm fairly new to RVing and you guys have given me some great tips to make experiences easier, better, more relaxing. Marc thanks for including the times where you make mistakes, you could very easily leave those on the floor of the your editing room, but you don't and helps us all appreciate the little bumps that could happen. I'll be here watching as long as you keep making the videos. BTW great choice of music!!
We were at Tiger Run at the same time as you!!! June 1-7th. So mad we didn’t get to say hi. 😂We just started full-timing with our family in March - in a Momentum 399th no less - and your videos have helped us so much!!
Love Ouray! We stumbled upon it a few years ago during the federal government shutdown when all the national parks were closed. The drive from Durango through Silverton to Ouray is stunning.
Wow you guys ROCK and for looking for a new rhythm, it come so natural for you all because it is YOU, just doing what you do. Family, travel, meeting new people, seeing new sights and making us all look forward to Sunday nights to see what you guys do to inspire us all to get out there.
Ouray is my absolute happy place. My family has been going there since 1973. We love to off road and use Ouray as our home base. Thanks for making my evening so I could see my happy place. ❤️👩🏻🦰
Love your videos. Just watching Caleb getting the trucker to honk. My son this past year going on vacation makes it a competition to see how many truckers he can get to honk on each vacation. It is so much fun and we hope makes then smile too.
Love your channel! So inspirational. Our Italy vacation was canceled this year, so we decided to kinda follow in your foot steps. Even though not in our RV we just checked in to our hotel in Ouray. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you guys. This town is Amazing! Thank you guys so much. Keep up the amazing work and looking forward to the new website.
I'm from the Durango, CO area and stationed in Norfolk, VA for a couple more years. Got my first trailer a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to experience home in a new way when I move back. I've rode the Million Dollar Highway a bunch on Harleys. Ready for new fun.
Went to Coors Brewery tour last September when I stayed in Colorado Springs for our Submarine reunion. Best fact was the introduction of the aluminum can in the same week I was born in 1959. Enjoying your videos.
My family and I found Ouray a magical place to visit . We rented a Jeep for the day and went off-roading in the mountains it was awesome . Colorado is so scenic just driving is a experience I loved . What a way to kick off the season . 👏 👏 👏
So happy to see you guys on the road again. AZ real estate market is on fire. Sold the house in two days and giving notice tomorrow. Retiring in a month and hitting the road! You guys have been an inspiration. Thank you!
You two look so much happier on the road, more relaxed, lighter. Great to see you back at it :-) and thanks for sharing all the real world, daily crazy of being humans, together.
This video was fun. Don't know why I felt the need to list, but I will do it anyway. 1. Love the scenery at 13:17 as the interstate sign passes by 2. Love 1 million drive and the 1.2 million comment and scenery. 3. Love the "advanced level of waiting" with Charlie. 4. Grocery shopping is a sport Thanks for the videos.
We know that road VERY well... we started our rv adventures from Silverton Colorado then went to Arizona...etc etc.. because of you guys 3 years ago! People just do not realize how little the road is and the loooong way down with no guard rails! We traveled it in ice and snow too!
I appreciate that you show real life, like having a sink full of dishes, it makes me feel like it's alright not to be perfect. Also, my husband and I did a road trip around that area for our honeymoon and it was a sweet reminder of a great adventure. BTW, our honeymoon was during the fall and it was wonderful with the colors!
7:05 "I can only imagine the fall colors." Being a Coloradoan...where you are now--Durango up Ouray--is my all time favorite spot for fall colors in Colorado. My recommendation? Ride the Durango and Silverton RR on or about October 1 to view the fall colors. Then you can add it to your top-10 list.
I wish your episodes were longer - you transport me to places I will never be able to visit - I love the sounds and the foodie places you visit - I just wish there was more of it each time - when it comes to the end I feel I’ve come back down to earth with a bump and back to reality - keep up the good work you are AMAZING and give me a boost of energy - So watching you all takes me to a happy place.
I took that highway from Utah to Kentucky, I remember that tunnel on Highway 70. I was heading back to Kentucky from a ski trip to SLC and I visited my Alma Mater in Logan, Utah. (Utah State University). I love this video, you all caught the beauty of Colorado.
I have MAJOR Colorado envy!!!! Live up by Evergreen twice in 70s and 80s and need a Rocky Mtn fix> Will be there next year. Your videos are so fun. Enjoy seeing ypur changes in rigs as well. Keep it up as you Keep Your Daydream
Oh my gosh you had me laughing out loud talking about waiting, hunting for screws in the parking lot and the joke about the delivery drivers not being very good hence the holes in the side of the building. Lol! And great looking drink recipe Trish! Keep...them...coming! 🥃🍸🧉
As ever, fantastic scenery, as well as an entertaining and cheerful family. You are the premo RV channel for beauty, info, competence with filming and editing, and overall excellent job. Can't send money, but I am a faithful watcher. Happy RVing.
Can I just say, as a single, 58 year old, female; that I appreciate the fact that the FEMALE drives in this family!!! So many couples trailer their rig and the woman is like, “Oh, driving is HIS job. I’m too scared to do it.” Ugh!!! I have pulled my own 5th wheel (41 ft) and now my new little 20 foot travel trailer by myself for years. Women CAN do this. There’s absolutely NO reason why we can’t. So, thank you, THANK YOU!!!! New sub here!! Edit: Charlie is gorgeous!!
I have towed/set up/taken down our Rockwood Roo 19 by myself multiple times. I enjoy having my hubby with me for all he does and I am confident to do all the things by myself. This channel has helped us so much!
After 30 years of living on wheels I find whomever likes to drive the rig...does. If the reason given by someone who chooses to NOT participate in an particular endeavor is irritating...that would be my problem, not theirs. Its important to separate the ability from the desire...to drive a big rig so we can someday reach the level of equality established by the E.R.A.
The Coors tour is awesome. I went there back in 2016 with some classmates...it was great!!!! The final stop on the tour was the best....and going to Bob's Hamburgers across the street from the trolley station...yum!
Remember that "Convoy" CB song from the 70's? The vocalist Bill Fries (performing as C.W. McCall) lives in Ouray. While you're YouTubing that one, also look up "Wolf Creek Pass" (which is up on the Great Divide) -- great song!
Just got back to Fredericksburg, Texas today from a week in Ouray. We hiked just over 39 miles during our stay. 4J 1+1 is a great RV Park run by Julie and her husband. Julie's parents started their park in 1956. Goldbelt was great, ask for Traci or Abby. The Ouray Brewery is another good open air dining experience... Erin is the owner and a great host! The Million Dollar Highway got its name during a 1921 planning meeting stating it would cost that much per mile to rebuild. You should drive it both ways with your RV... it's a "hoot". As far as your horn, you simply need to wire in a relay. This will allow you to toggle back and forth with stock using your upfitter switch.
KYD - for Charlie and any kind of hydrant or post. My solution is to make a large loop of rope that is larger than the item you will 'lasso'. Then attach Charlie's lead to that. The 'loop' will rotate around the post or hydrant, and not actually wrap on the item. Not a complete solution, but it really helps keep the dog free since the loop can rotate.
We were in Ouray about the same time you were. Absolutely beautiful! And highway 505? Spectacular! Will remember it the rest of my life. So glad you are on the road again. We are in Custer state park in SD now, And it’s a really nice place too!
I'm old enough to remember when the Million Dollar Highway was gravel. We'd harvest fruit and veggies in New Mexico. Sell door to door in Silverton drive over to Ouray (You Ray) sell what's left, visit Box Canyon, swim in the pool. I never remember going home. Probably conked out after the pool for the ride back to Silverton where we probably stayed at Effie's then home to Aztec the next day. Years later, stuck behind snow slides 8 times and 1 time behind rock slide in 2 years. Then, 15 years later sliding sideways down the Camp Bird Road in a Suburban.
Yassss! It's my favorite time of the week!!! I haven't traveled CO much, but the times that I have... Ouray was Amazing! Also loved Cañon City... Went to the Royal Gorge Bride and did a day long rafting trip down the Arkansas River (through Clear Creek Rafting Big Horn Canyon route)... So much more😍 KEEP YOUR DAYDREAM SAFE TRAVELS!
It was really cool to see you all hang out in my old stomping grounds. I grew up in Montrose, and miss that area all the time, especially since I live in Houston now. Not the same view.
Really enjoyed the video. Your family seems very nice and fun spirited. The drink you made for CO...fits well. Glad you enjoyed Ouray, it is hard to beat. Safe and fun future travels!
Oh my gosh! That brought back so many memories! We were there years ago. We must go back. Didn't get to spend to much time in Ouray. We were rescued from there. Broke our leaf spring on the 5th wheel on the Million Dollar Highway. Fun times.
Sorry about your problem, but there broke down on the road. I thinking about driving my fifthwheel from Quray to Silverton and i see there is a height limit. How tall is your fifthwheel?
At 24:26, that tow vehicle really shocked me to see in Colorado. I know Colmans are light, but still. You can also see the awning sneaking out a bit too.
Hi - hope you are enjoying your new season of travel. I think it is GREAT! I know it’s tight in the Airstream having both boys with you but you will look back and be so glad to have had these memories. Safe travels 😊💕🇺🇸
Today, I was finishing up making reservations for our camping trip to Colorado in July. After a week at RMNP, we are going to Red Rocks for a concert and then we were starting back home to Indiana. Then I saw this video today and I booked us for two nights at the Ouray KOA! We are excited to see a new place and then we are on to Colorado Springs for two nights and then a couple of days to get back to Indiana. We use a 6x8 mini camper squaredrop fiberglass Runaway Camper - so we can get in just about anywhere. Thanks for the tip! Blessings!
I like your site because it isn’t always all about the latest gadget or problem. You actually seem to be having fun with people and traveling. I get kinda tired of all the acquiring of things on many channels. I had an adorable airstream 16’ Bambi - for a year- NO storage!! But cute for a weekend if two or fewer people. Also learned about the fragility (and the cost) of aluminum. Had some good fun in it though. The bigger ones look really nice.
Another super video. You guys are the best! Love living vicariously through you. We've been rving as amateurs for 2 seasons and learned everything from your channel. You never miss. My wife says you are the happiest family she's ever seen. Hope to see you on the road one day.
Ouray in the fall is amazing!! My wife and i go every year in the fall just to see the trees turn color in that area because it's like nothing else! The nextflix tv show "The Ranch" uses a drone shot facing north flying into Ouray from the million dollar highway for their intro. They call it something else in the show of course but i immediately recognized it! Ouray is very unique and awesome!
Definitely Ouray deserves a 10! Welcome back to Colorado. I made a note about the drive between New Mexico n Ouray. We always recommend the Lander to dubois to Teton National Park for a killer scenic mountain drive .
Our son works for the National Park there at Mesa Vera. Steve called today from Ouray and said the winds were at 30 mph and was 67 for the high. Wonderful place..
Awesome vid. Luv,luv, luv Ouray. Yes the aspens in the fall are amazing . Has anyone told you yet that it’s the ‘Eisenhower ‘tunnel...not ‘Johnson”? CO is the best. Mark cracks me up w/his parking lot ‘surveillance’.....
I loved hearing trish give the back up directions. I’d love to take lessons from her. The husband and I haven’t found our groove for giving and getting directions on backing up yet. We’re a year into having the trailer and we’re just not as comfortable as I’d hoped we’d be by now. 😕
Just checked out your quick guide. WOW!! So awesome. All I have to do is print it off and slip it in my book under Colorado! Thank you. House goes up for sale 2 weeks from tomorrow and we’re looking forward to our new adventure!
We took our Rockwood Roo 19 to Ouray last year and it was amazing! The views are phenomenal! We stayed at Ouray KOA and it was beautiful and the staff was great!
Hey guys! Just love your videos! I bought a new camper this fall and it’s our first hard sided camper. Before we had a pop up. I’ve watched all your videos now and I can’t wait to go camping in the spring. Thank you
I follow a few RVers and even though I don't full time yours is my favorite entertaining and informative. I love the rig you have now because I have pulled a larger rig and it was to much as in limiting me to where I want to go. You also have the experience of teardrop camping. So you can always set up a home base with the streamline and tent it to those hard to reach experiences that you cannot tow a trailer. That is what I am doing and it works great. Ideas I formed from watching your channel.
You guys have so much fun just sitting in the truck having conversations! I will say, it’s interesting to see what the conversation centers around with 3 males and one female: truck horns, compressor, and how many screws left in the parking lot!! Our rig has one male and 4 females (18, 20, 35 & mom). Very different topics :)
We left May 17 for our Southwest National Park camping tour and are having a great time. The NParks have been the quietest and least crowded we have ever seen. Currently, Day 22, we are at Bryce Canyon heading to Fruita Campground at Capital Reef tomorrow. Already been to Petrified Forest/Painted Desert (closed but found Little Painted Desert), Grand Canyon South and North (closed, but got to the rim on Rainbow Rim Trail), Vermilion Cliffs, Mesa Verde, Zion, and Bryce. Finally took a break from hiking to catch up on your videos. Enjoy your adventure! We'll be watching from ours.
Thank you for making me cry and taking me home, have not been back in over 15 years. Estas is my favorite place in all of the country so looking forward to next weeks episode 😭🥰😭😍
Awesome video. Was looking for an update on Charlie’s blown out ACL on that cut move by the fire hydrant. Loved Trish was sitting here (heated seats on full blast)!! Great job guys.
We've explored every state but AK and ND and Colorado and Washington are our 2 favorite states. We camped Colorado last summer and never below 9K feet for weeks, Mostly dispersed and National Forest campgrounds. From Georgia and back over 3 weeks we spent less than $100 in camping fees total :-) Great that Charlie gets to go hiking with you .... he definitely loved that stick. Being aware of and picking up screws like that is proof that you are a more evolved life form !
Awesome guys! That's so crazy my Wife and I were about one week behind you in Colorado in June! We have a Class C pulling a Jeep Wrangler 4dr and we made the huge mistake of taking the 505 from Silverton to Ouray... OMG! We got sideswiped by a semi coming around the last curve. He just kept driving along didn't bother slowing down even! Luckily we got him on video and turned it over to our insurance company. It wasn't enough to stop our trip but geeze! Wish I would have known the road ahead of time. Beautiful country though isn't it? and good to see you having fun! Enjoy watching your videos so much (our favorite was Big Sur in the Jeep and trailer!) keep on traveling and enjoy!
Great video, we blast up to Tiger Run all the time...Yes, a bit spendy, but its is worth every penny. Our dog loves it and they are all pro. Frisco, Dillon Reservoir and Breck' are so close... even a day trip to Granby is fun, or lunch in Copper Cannon and Vail are fun. Thank you for posting
We moved from Tempe AZ in 1997 to resort area in the Ozark mountains in Arkansas. Love your Channel. Inspired us to buy a 27 ft. Travel Trailer 3 years ago. Oct. 2018 we spent 2 weeks in Colorado. So much to love. Estes Park was my favorite of places we went. Of course we were there during the Elk rut. Can't wait to see next weeks video. We were planning on far east coast(DC, Boston, Maine etc. this October. But Maine is under quarantine till at least early Sept. so planning visit to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Thanks for the inspiration...

Love it! I'm getting ready to hit the road again, appreciate the quick guide!
Absolutely! Thanks for the extra work! Very helpful.
We are goingtoOuray in July, just saw your video
Loved this video! The shot with Charlie at the falls was amazing. You mentioned the campground in Golden,; was that the one just off the main street?
Guessing you found out the ‘O’ is silent? Great video from my neck of the woods.

We completely agree.
I think Trish should create a "what we had for dinner and happy hour" video each week. She always has the best ideas on drinks & food. 🥰
I’m tired of the like button. Where’s the “LOVE” button?
:)
Yes ❤
Wow, when 28 minutes goes by in 5 mins. That was fun.
I said "always the fastest 20 minutes of the week" to my wife last night.
Our state parks opened on May 29th. We set up camp and didn't leave until yesterday, June 7th. :) We had a great time in our little Autum Ridge, meeting new people, hiking, bike riding.... So glad to finally be free again! Have fun all and stay safe.

Advanced level waiting....classic and hysterical! My husband would agree.
Man, I can't wait to get our new RV! 20ish days and counting! Cheers my friends
Nice. I can't wait to see it. Keep me posted! Let's catch-up soon.
Can’t wait to see what you’re getting also!!!
Congrats I watch your chanell

Your editing style has changed a little over the last few months and I love it!1 I want to be like you when our channel grows up.
Love the Million Dollar Highway. Ouray Brewery with the Roof Top seating is AWESOME!
Charlie’s juke when he was on the grass playing was on point!
Lol. Such a great word for that move.
I'm moving to CO Springs because of scenery like this. Getting the truck and a camper and headed into the ROCKIES!

Okay, been watching for a long time now. Trish has definitely stepped up her beverage game 🤣 I guess that's what we do in quarantine.

Book Idea: KYD Tricia’s 50 State Drinks
😎
Put a litle silicone spray on the window latch to lube the spring. It can be adjusted from the outside with the window open. (05 airstream classic)
Charlie is such a sweet friend for Caleb now his siblings aren't around so much. Perfect timing :)
Love Ouray! We stumbled upon it a few years ago during the federal government shutdown when all the national parks were closed. The drive from Durango through Silverton to Ouray is stunning.

Set your levelling app when you are on a weigh scale. The surface that the vehicle is on MUST be level to set it correctly. You folks are GOLD !!
My retirement is somewhere between Durango and Grand Junction. Ouray is amazing!
From SURPRISE, AZ - ok, I have to say this...you guys have to be the best channel on RUclips! I could literally watch you guys all the live long day.
Ouray is my absolute happy place. My family has been going there since 1973. We love to off road and use Ouray as our home base. Thanks for making my evening so I could see my happy place. ❤️👩🏻🦰

Thanks for the video post card.! Driven 550 numerous times and still can't get enough of the scenery. Getting me stoked for this summer's trip out.
I really like your dog Charlie. He seems like the perfect travel companion. Likes to have fun yet really mellow.. 👍
I press like before I watch because I just know it’s going to be great
And we like you....
Agree
I do that too
Totally agree!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩
Great video again

Yes, kudos to Trish and you, Lori! I, too, am single and pull my own camper. Currently my Jayco is 28 foot.
From the looks of your subs, you guys are rockin the RV arena like no other. Good job. Rock On.
I got halfway up the west side of the pass and aborted, just too heavy. Should have known better from the song.
To help the bikes in the rain I use a small roll of stretch plastic shipping package wrap around the head bearings and crank bearings.
We were in Ouray about the same time you were. Absolutely beautiful! And highway 505? Spectacular! Will remember it the rest of my life. So glad you are on the road again. We are in Custer state park in SD now, And it’s a really nice place too!
This just popped up on my suggestion list.....4 years ago?.....Seems like 4 weeks ago this video dropped........Love you guys..........
So much more😍
KEEP YOUR DAYDREAM
SAFE TRAVELS!
It was really cool to see you all hang out in my old stomping grounds. I grew up in Montrose, and miss that area all the time, especially since I live in Houston now. Not the same view.
Hello from Okinawa, Japan. Nice to see this place without all the snow.
Really enjoyed the video. Your family seems very nice and fun spirited. The drink you made for CO...fits well. Glad you enjoyed Ouray, it is hard to beat. Safe and fun future travels!
Love that town. My wife and I were married there in 2014. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Breathtaking drone footage. Nice work! Absolutely Beautiful.
Goldbelt is our favorite hangout in Ouray. Great pizza and great views from the patio. Safe travels.
You guys are in my former back yard. Make me miss the southwest so much. Enjoy!
Where did you get the colorful picnic tablecloth?
You guys are my new favorite youtube channel to watch! Thank you for all of the wonderful information for the new RV folks like myself!
San Juan Skyway is a beautiful drive. Ouray is a nice little paradise in the mountains.
We took our Rockwood Roo 19 to Ouray last year and it was amazing! The views are phenomenal! We stayed at Ouray KOA and it was beautiful and the staff was great!
You give 10’s out to easy, it can’t get better than 10! Love you guys looks awesome!
Another great video! Colorado does not disappoint ... loved all the views and tunes!
I always feel happy after watching your videos. Colorado is on our list of places to visit, thanks for the heads up on cool places to go.
Awesome video. Was looking for an update on Charlie’s blown out ACL on that cut move by the fire hydrant. Loved Trish was sitting here (heated seats on full blast)!! Great job guys.
Great video! Back to your roots and why my family loves your channel. Thanks!
Colorado is my favorite state to visit. So beautiful and majestic.
I am so glad you’re traveling and showing the places you stayed with activities. I’ve been missing this part for awhile.
Same here :)
