Another steam gala like we all love them. My 'Star' would of course be the King, being a GWR fan it was logical. Also loved to see a view taken from Ponden's footbridge as it is magnificent and reminds me childhood memories of standing on Liège's main station's one to photograph trains in the 1980's... A good moment to help me keeping hope while I am stuck in bed by back problems...
Bonjour Lewis, All your video's are always of a superior quality but this one, for some reason', is even better. Probably because of these big loco's swinging through the gentle curves just like the real thing. I love the elegance of the V2 and always had a week spot for the King Class. What a joy to watch and dream away on the thundering steam sounds and a crisp whistle in the distance. Looking forward to see your new build too ! Thanks for sharing. Greetings, Filip

A few more inches in drive wheel diameter and they would have taken their place among the race horses. Regards, David.
Thanks David. Agreed - I ended up selling my Bachmann 9F, but will probably get the new Hornby version at some point. I love the V2s as well. I’m tempted to get the new version. Definitely interested to see how it looks compared to the the older version I have given how expensive they are.

Hey hey hey it’s Mouldys Fabulous Friday Hello Lewis Great running session with some nice locos as always with some really good filming especially from the foot bridge. Stay safe, keep sharing and model on. Regards Lee@NEAR
Got to this late tonight, but a much-needed respite in the Dales. Sadly, I do not know my locos well enough to know which were the biggest bad boys, but I do know excellent modeling and craftsmanship. That was on full display. Beautiful scenery and gorgeous trains. Can't be beat.
Hi Lewis. Superb running session and very enjoyable to watch. It's hard to pick my favourite loco out of these. I've always loved the Britannia class, so that will have to be the winner for me. Superb job with the sound effects. As usual another enjoyable trip down memory lane. Cheers Chris.
The best watch of the week! Thanks. Perhaps one week you could do a "Making of....." video, you know, the cameras you use, set up, adding the sound etc? 👍
I've just watched this superb video with my first cuppa, very relaxing most enjoyable. I love the filming little snap shots of trains running, I particularly like the view from the footbridge and the train runs underneath, that was very evocative. Thank you. Take care, Eddy xx
Very nice and a pleasure as always Lewis. Makes me miss having a running layout. But hopefully soon that’s going to change. Apologies for not commenting lately I’ve been very busy preparing to move house so I’ve not really been following youtube. So this was a splendid return. Thank you. All the best, Ross.
Another high quality video to brighten a dull Saturday morning At first I thought the V2 on Southern ! but reading the comments I see they really did run with the green stock and very nice it looks too a prototype for everything. I enjoyed the bolster wagons train, those and tankers are favourites Come to think of it I cannot recall a train of tank wagons passing through here
Another enjoyable video..from the storming 46256 to saving the best for last..(I would say that as I've lived onthe western all my life). lol .Lovely sounds too..all the best.
I genuinely think this is your best video yet, wonderfully shot, great audio as usual, and still the best layout on the Tubes. Also, *ahem* 9:38 Might wanna get a raid started on those giant spiders weaving cobwebs so large they can cover bolster wagons.
Thank you 👍🏻 Wow I completely missed that! Maybe it’s a teaser for the next ‘train in trouble’ video - an army of giant arachnids attack and the crew have to fight them off using shovels.

Lewis, what follows is not a criticism of your excellent model layout. Nor, even of your impressive investment, even burgeoning plethora, of your vast range of model locomotives and rolling stock, that entertains me and weekly watchers of your YT channel. Neither am I a ‘rivet counter’ in connection with modelling and models. But todays entertaining episode also made me think. Whilst the scale 1:1 Coronation Princess Pacific’s were undoubtedly powerful, they were either classified as 7P (LMS) or 8P (when absorbed into British Rail). So, to see ‘Sir William Stanier’ 46257, a model of the only example of the class directly introduced into service ‘post nationalisation’ (your model also displaying a BR badge on the tender), to be hauling goods traffic - rather than a rake of passenger coaches was well below the lofty aspirations of the designer(s) and most known practice. I acknowledge that you had a BR Standard class 7MT, 70007, named ‘Coeur de Leon’, drawing the other goods consist in todays’ show. On a similar bent, your excellent rake of Bulleid Southern coaches looked out of place, when attached to the ‘LNER’ V2 that was carrying the telltale sign of BR ownership. Meanwhile the Bullied designed ‘Battle of Britain’ class of Light Pacific ‘Spam Can’ would be more at home with the Southern coaches - than the mixture attached. You know that I thoroughly enjoy your productions and your work and effort in sharing. Your Yorkshire Dales Model Railway today literally exceeded my recollection of the mixture & inter-regional exchanges seen on the SDJR, at Bath Green Park, in my youth. Keep up the good work and entertainment. Peter
Thank you Peter, always appreciate it. That’s an interesting point about the Princess Coronation. From videos/photos I’ve seen they were sometimes used on parcels/fitted freight workings (regardless of what Sir William thought!). Some good photos of them working those services below, but as you say those jobs were surely below what he intended for them! pin.it/zusoAzy pin.it/301kpXw www.national-preservation.com/threads/stanier-princess-coronation-class-b-r-era-46251-46252.1291473/ Another interesting (and very true) point about the mix of locos and stock. My thinking has always been, if I’m going to run huge express passenger locos on a little branchline, or Southern Bullied Pacific’s and GWR pannier tanks in Yorkshire, then it almost seems a bit nonsensical to draw the line at mixing carriages and locos that wouldn’t have run together! I guess I get tired of running the same locos with the same coaches, and like to change it up! You’re spot on though, it does almost feel like the SDJR with all this going on! Thanks again 👍🏻
Lewis, I knew that you’d have researched the options. Obviously, once the Coronation/Princess class couldn’t run the Expresses London to Scotland, particularly when their height precluded use under catenary, they were at a loose end. In the last days of steam, on the mainline, they were just trying to use whatever was available as the older stuff, pre-war, was worn out from overuse... how the mighty are fallen. From late 1930’s streamlined star, diminished to 1960’s parcel van puller. All in 30 years. Some of them were hardly ‘run-in’, compared to turn of the century stuff. Enjoyed the links to the pics. thanks as always. Peter
Now all that's missing is smoke and you might think it's all real. The sound is so real, the landscape, wonderful model railroad. I love your channel. Greetings from Stolberg, near Aachen in Germany
Another great running session. Star of the show for me is the Sir William A Stanier. In fact I love it so much I went out and got one myself (my wallet is still having palpitations)! Looking forward to see what marvels you produce for the new layout. Think I remember you saying in an earlier video that it would be an exhibition layout?
Thank you. Crazy expensive aren’t they, not many locos I’d pay that for, but I don’t regret it! I’ve not got any plans to exhibit it, but at a push the new one could be portable. Thanks again 😀
@@MouldyRaspberry Yeah I got mine for a bout £20 less than anywhere else I'd seen it and I hunted around for quite a while, but still a fair bit more than I've paid for any other loco. I don't regret it though.

Great video. Wonder if the Southern have noticed the disappearance of some coaches and a Loco. Still its your layout and you can run what you like. Some of my Loco /coach/ wagon combinations would have the rivet counters going mad. Keep safe. Look forward to seeing the new layout.
Thanks David. Very true, as you say, a fictional layout surely justifies some fictional trains! Someone reminded me in the comments that the V2s (along with B1s and Black Fives) were allocated to the Southern region in the 1950’s when all the Merchant Navys were temporarily withdrawn - I couldn’t find many photos but I wonder if they were ever seen hauling green rakes?!
@@MouldyRaspberry That's correct in 1953 Merchant Navy class 35020 Bibby lane had a crank axle defect. All were withdrawn and several class Black 5's were allocated to southern region along with Britannia's , V1's and V2''s
¡Hola buenas tardes Lewis! Wow - soundtrack was brilliant today. Had the headphones on and, short of the smell of hot steam and, smoke, it was real! My favourite shots were at 9:45, emerging from the tunnel and 10:25, racing through Buckdale, with the camera view overlooking the coal yard and station. How's the planned additions coming along? As ever, stay safe and well Un saludo. Gary
Thanks Gary, glad you liked the sounds. It’s going well, I’ve been working on the buildings but have tried a few laser cut kits this time rather than plastic. Pleased with them though. I adapted one of the spare signs you sent me with the new station name so that’s ready to go as well! Hope all is well with you.
Nice theme this week, and delightfull video as usual. Good idea to have put a V2 and a 4-60 with the 4-6-2, it is a variation on the theme well chosen. On a modelist point of view, I am appaled by the use of fixed axle and flangeleess wheels on all the Hornby 4-6-2 for the rear truck. Can't they do a proprer truck on a real front pivot for those engines ? Even the sliding axle of the Bachmann V2 is better ! That is what prevents me from buying a Britannia and a Battle of Britain, what a pity ! About the V2, the new one announced for the end of the year is, uh, a little pricy : GBP 195 at Rails of Sheffield, to give you an indication. I really hesistate because it would be a great engine in LNER guise on my layout.
Thanks Olivier. I completely get that. Strangely my BoB doesn’t actually have the fixed axle like the Britannia and the Coronation do. I’m not sure why they didn’t use that same design on the later two. You’re right though, the V2 is better. The new ones are sure expensive, but I really like the look of the BR back version!
Haven’t seen your videos in a while. Everything looking good Lewis! 🙂 lovely list of locos. That v2 looks fab with southern coaches. And wonderful sfx. Would you ever do a gala? Or 1940s event? Just an idea.
Hmmm I’m not sure the RA for some of those locos would allow them to run over the line. 🤣👍 I love your videos I totally get absorbed like I’m track side. Even been known to drift off in a day dream between services while I’m waiting! 🤣👍👊😎
Thanks David. Hornby mag did yes, it helps having a RUclips channel when you need to rack up a few votes though! That’s very king of you, appreciate it.
The reproduction of the station and the track is from somewhere that the train no longer passes through and that brings you good memories of childhood? Forgive the question, but it's my doubt
Hi Lewis, Always late to the show me, so I sat watching your latest wonderful video over breakfast this morning. You have a great line up of motive power there...........Was it deliberate to have one loco from each region plus BR or just accidental? The Ivatt pacific looks amazing, even though I prefer ECML steam, V2 V2 V2 snap out of it Dave!!!!!!...........I wondwered as well how you imagine the layout, as a BR line operating in different regions or as a preserved line running anything, I'm just curious? I was going to ask as well what your next project will be layout wise, but reading the comments it seems you have a new project, so I guess that kind of answers that? Anyway, great video, look forward to next week. Best regards Dave.
Hi Dave - accidental, but I guess that worked out well! I guess as a BR line, although I’ve not worked out a justification for all the inter regional trains yet! I suppose I almost run it as a heritage line every now and then as well. The new project is a separate layout, which will be a end to end terminus station. Almost a continuation of this layout though, or at least I’ll try and film it so it looks like part of this layout.
Great stuff, and a nice looking layout! Are you dubbing the sound over the video or have you got it worked into a DCC/TTS decoder? I like DCC = sound but to me it's still not quite right in a lot of cases...
What a splendid mix of locomotives, my favourite in this line was joint between The V2 and The Coronation. Very well done and can't wait to see more. By the way do you now what the yellow strip on the side of some steam locomotive cabs mean? I know it has something to with electrification but I'm unsure. Regards FSS
Thank you. I love the V2 as well. Someone will know much more about this than me, but I think you’re right - the yellow stripe in the late 1960’s meant the locomotive couldn’t work any further south than Crewe due to the electrified lines.
@@MouldyRaspberry Ah ok thank you for answering that for me, can't wait to see more engines on the layout. Will we get a possible appearance of Flying Scotsman?
The viaduct is the Wills viaduct kit: peco-uk.com/products/three-arch-viaduct-2 The smaller stone bridge is a Metcalfe kit, covered in DAS modelling clay.
The Merchant Navy Southern engine is the most powerful of that kind. The Battle of Britain Spam Can is nowhere near as strong. I'm very disappointed in you for not showing off Mallard. She's the most powerful LNER engine of the lot. The V2 is strong, yet she'll never match the power of the A4.
Try playing these mouldy raspberry videos on an iPad or phone while running trains. It is possible to coordinate some video with real oo trains and simulate a sound layout. However 🎉non coordination can still fill the room with railway sound and the eyes and ears can be fooled into believing those trains running are making the sound. Every now and again a minute or two will be coordinated for more pleasure, so, what the hell! Tryitout. Alan Rowlands

Another great video again !. With nice loco's and that reverberating steam sound. just awesome !
Thank you 👍🏻
Excellent yet again
Thanks Brian!
Another belter....thanks Lewis......Bob
Thanks Bob!
Layout is so beautiful. Loved it. Subscribed
Thank you!
I like how you utilize all of your viewpoints and vantage points..
Thanks Timothy 👍🏻
The mainline is really airing their big locos on YDR this week 🌹❤🌷
The bridges will be starting to crumble at this rate!
@@MouldyRaspberry Yes and YDR will surely need a second track at least part of the distance! 😀
Kinda surprising that V2 with Southern coaches doesn't look weird. Also cool custom nameplate on the Standard 7
Thanks Tony 👍🏻
Thank you, appreciate it. Yes I’ve done a few, they’re up on the channel 😀
Power full trains
Very powerful!
Another nice video, trhanks, Bob Z Erie, PA USA
Thank you Bob.
Hmmm I’m not sure the RA for some of those locos would allow them to run over the line. 🤣👍 I love your videos I totally get absorbed like I’m track side. Even been known to drift off in a day dream between services while I’m waiting! 🤣👍👊😎
Thanks Ant, you’re not wrong there! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Great scenery
Thanks Paul 👍🏻
Excellent as always
Thanks Brian 👍🏻
Did the Hornby gang just vote you as the best? Not the biggest railway but the most realistic and sounds brilliant well done.
Thanks David. Hornby mag did yes, it helps having a RUclips channel when you need to rack up a few votes though! That’s very king of you, appreciate it.
Another great trip through the Yorkshire Dales. May I ask you the size of your layout and if you have a track plan you could show me.
Thanks Peter. If you email me a mouldyraspberry@gmail.com I’ll send you the track plan with the dimensions etc.
A wonderful way to start my Saturday before I head off to work! Is that first train a mail train?
Glad you liked it. Yes it is!
The reproduction of the station and the track is from somewhere that the train no longer passes through and that brings you good memories of childhood? Forgive the question, but it's my doubt
Here in the city of Cordoba (Spain) I also grew up near the train station. Today all that has already changed.
Yes a mixture of that, and preserved steam railways here in the UK. That’s true, a lot has changed!
A great show! Did you say a new layout ? Cheers.
Thanks Rod. Yes, keeping this one but starting a new (smaller) project as well.
Great stuff, and a nice looking layout! Are you dubbing the sound over the video or have you got it worked into a DCC/TTS decoder? I like DCC = sound but to me it's still not quite right in a lot of cases...
Thanks! I add the sound over to top as the layouts analogue 👍🏻
Mouldy Friday? Though the idea was Thursday! 😂
I like to keep you on you guessing Matt 😂

What a splendid mix of locomotives, my favourite in this line was joint between The V2 and The Coronation. Very well done and can't wait to see more. By the way do you now what the yellow strip on the side of some steam locomotive cabs mean? I know it has something to with electrification but I'm unsure.
Regards FSS
Thank you. I love the V2 as well. Someone will know much more about this than me, but I think you’re right - the yellow stripe in the late 1960’s meant the locomotive couldn’t work any further south than Crewe due to the electrified lines.
Hi any steam locomotive with the yellow diagonal stripe on the cab side, was prohibited from working south of Crewe, under the wire.
@@MouldyRaspberry Ah ok thank you for answering that for me, can't wait to see more engines on the layout. Will we get a possible appearance of Flying Scotsman?
@@michaelcotgreave271 Thank you very much for answering my question.
I have a question how many locomotives do you have?
I have 28 at the minute Owen. I’ll sell a couple on over the next couple of weeks though.
can you tell me about the stone arch bridges on your layout? They look beautiful and I am wondering whether they are from kits or scratch built.
The viaduct is the Wills viaduct kit:
peco-uk.com/products/three-arch-viaduct-2
The smaller stone bridge is a Metcalfe kit, covered in DAS modelling clay.
Hi Lewis, I have tried to send you an email but it does not appear in my sent box, have you got it? Cheers Mike
Hi Mike - Yes I did, I’m replying now 👍🏻
could i ask what the dimensions are for this railway plz
I think it’s 30 x 10 feet, so an 80 foot loop in total.
@@MouldyRaspberry its an amazing layout.
That’s very true Kelly. Mallard only comes out on the most special occasions!
