    • @MontuPlays
      @MontuPlays  5 месяцев назад +17

      Absolutely, 25% is a lot. Though it's less than inflation since the first expansion DLC came out.
      When we adjust for inflation this price would be lower (in real terms) than Utopia was at release.
      I'm mainly just glad it wasn't 50% or more, given how expensive Astral Planes was, that crap sucked!

    • @elonwhatever
      @elonwhatever 5 месяцев назад +4

      @@MontuPlays
      Yesn't.
      Inflation under normal circumstances is a consequence of prices involved in manufacturing (base resources, manufacturing, transport, etc.) and consumer purchasing power.
      If consumers can buy less with the same amount of money that is inflation.
      Now, during the epidemic and start of the invasion of Ukraine there were indeed difficulties in transport and manufacturing which made things a bit more expensive. Those market forces though were temporary and have normalized.
      Yet somehow prices have not gone down again or even continued to increase.
      The reason why? Corporate price gouging. That inflation rate of 25%-30% should have been closer to 11-13% but because of corporate greed that inflation rate is more than double what it should have been (because the increase in price has not gone to worker wages, but to investor and CEO pockets).
      Paradox is just continuing that trend. Asking for more money while paying workers the same and laying of whole divisions.
      So, I call bull

    • @Elinbemyname
      @Elinbemyname 5 месяцев назад +4

      You seem to be a bit bad at reading.
      OP is making a clear distinction.
      First describing inflation that occurs naturally through forces that impact the market and are largely out of control of governments and corporations. Secondly describing fully artificial inflation that is controlled by the executives. That latter part is also known as price gouging. It doesn't need to exist and exacerbates natural inflation.
      Defending corporate prices hikes with "but inflation" while said corporations are responsible for said inflation is not only incredibly stupid, it's also short sighted and dangerous. Buy defending their behaviour you are essentially encouraging more of it.

    New crisis looks super exciting, can't wait to test my synthetically ascended galactic empress against this new Synthetic Queen; there can only be one. This definitely restored my hype for this DLC after hearing about the changes to machines a few weeks ago. I'm still worried about the state of synthetic ascension specifically for organics to machines, and how, if at all, they'll have access to the 3 new machine ascension paths, but I think only time will tell on that :E

  • @tri99er_
    @tri99er_ 5 месяцев назад +26

    I wish they add 8th tradition slot. And move 8th ascension perk to it, instead of research, where it doesn't belong. With so many tradition trees, we deserve another slot.

      @tri99er_ 5 месяцев назад +6

      @@isuckatusernames4297 yeah, that works normally. But I mostly play ironman mode, so I'd like to have that changed in core game. We're coming upon a lot of trees, but the slots are remained only 7, like at launch. Adding 8th tree slot would really crank up the possibilities and will make unity focused gameplay more engaging and a stronger alternative to research (the devs are clearly pushing this themselves). And will finally rid us of annoying tech requirements for finishing unity progression.

    I really like the idea of potentially lane shaping the galaxy. Imagine taking the new crisis path or changing the path of the space storms coming out later this year to alter the very landscape of the galaxy. Imagine making it so some hyperlanes are static and can’t be altered while others are fluid and change with the space storms. Imagine the possibilities of suddenly having a new border with a potentially unfriendly neighbor or locking all connections to the outside galaxy to just a few easy to defend choke points.

    Cosmogenisis might hook into the hypothesis that an entire cosmos or universe exists within a black hole that's in universe above it. Instead of relying on black hole darwinism, where universes are selected and created with fundamental conditions ideal for more black hole formation, the crisispath allows for the creation of daughter universes to migrate to (upload to). To create these we might need to harvest a part of the galaxy or something. Cosmo ≠ galaxy, btw, cosmo > galaxy

A devouring swarm that corrupts the life in the universe, and uses it to destroy their enemies while spreading endlessly. So far we have a couple civics around this idea, but they are grossly limited to only allowing a small fleet every 5 years, on 3 systems in the galaxy that are randomly placed. Sometimes in horribly inconvenient places. This plus machine age are amazing additions to the game. I hope the next DLC chain targets hive minds in much the same way and explores some new ideas too involving genetic evolution, or maybe psionic hives too.

    the way they make these introduction videos for DLC i kinda want whoever is behind it all, the writers and programmers / animators, to make a longer video, if not a full feature length film, maybe a couple 30 minute or hour long stories.
    especially if they actually made a full story video for the new precursors, or maybe just for some random in game empire..
    anyway, appreciate the video, informative info on the upcoming stuff for stellaris without wasting our time. 👍
    really support you on the humble bundle partnership, but i've had a membership to that for years now... it's actually how i got into stellaris i believe, i know i got multiple DLC from them in a bundle way way back, when there was like 6 DLC.

    - Cosmic Storm:
    A old suggestion of mine was a "Nebula Start" origin. A species whose homeworld (and naturally habitable planets) are in a nebula. And who are distrustful of the "outside world". Maybe they even have the ability to make nebulas around their colonies.
    I would say it was heavily influenced by the sensor changes that nebulas bring. And the Krikkit from hitchhikers guide.
    - Voidworm Plague:
    I am guessing it is more like a "Rat Plague" or "Plague of locusts". Where the voidworms are the plague.
    - Synthethic Queen
    Those were disolved by/into Nanites. Like the swarm they were firing on.
    Also, looks like someone is introducing that Fallen Empire to the "Worf effect".
    I would guess that is the materialist FE, specifically. Likely her cerators. That guy was probably the only living creature in the fleet.

    Unlocked from Day 1: Rick The Cube art portrait
    An exclusive portrait for your species so you can play as the most enigmatic species in the galaxy. As with all species portraits in Stellaris, three different variants (phenotypes) and custom animations are included. You will be able to select this portrait in your empire building skin before starting a new game session.
    Instant, exclusive access when you purchase the Expansion Pass
    *This content may be made available for individual purchase at a later date.
    (so we will have to pay for a portrait? unless we buy the season 8)

    "Hey, we're releasing a ton of tiny DLC for the same full price as a normal one. Will you buy our pass yet?" Both Grand Archives and Cosmic Storms, 2 years ago, would have been small pieces of a much larger DLC. The problem is, they cost the same as those.

    • @MontuPlays
      @MontuPlays  5 месяцев назад

      Are we sure? They seem a similar size to ancient relics at release, and definitely bigger than the $10 species packs right?

    • @Fatespinner
      @Fatespinner 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@MontuPlays Species packs each had at least 1 origin and civic, and those civics often created entire new playstyles, or gave you a new angle on existing ones. Aquatics made Inward Perfection at least playable (RIP), humanoids gave us Artificers (RIP)
      "content" doesn't matter if it's 98% fluff, so overall size isn't really the metric I'd use. Impact on the game as an average is the metric I'd look at. The storms? Might be interesting sometimes, but an entire DLC for a feature you're probably going to only want in 1/4 of your games?
      Honestly Grand Archives, as described, also rather sounds like a megastructure they decided to build a DLC around. What could have (and probably should have) been one of many features in another DLC, they just said "Build everything around this megastructure." Sure, a cool thing to pull out every now and again, but not often. With other DLC's, there were still things you could use even if you didn't hardline that playstyle. With Grand Archives, you're either Pokemon Empire or you're not, given how it's explained in the trailers and the paid content creator videos.
      Sure, they fluffed up the download size, but let's be real, pretty much everything that's been announced since the pass has been tiny fragments of fun, surrounded by fat piles of filler so it doesn't look like you're being sold a crumb for a tenner.
