It's the fact that the message self destructs, as a parent, you have to wonder why your child feels the need to hide behind an app that acts in that manner. What they may be trying to hide from you. That's all. It's secretive, and that's no good for any relationship.
Dad does not know about snapchat, thinks it's yet another social media that COULD be risky and expose his child to perverts and danger, which is why he believes there's no need for the child to have another social media. But the point he's making is, you shouldn't limit yourself to your sole belief, as per your limited knowledge. You have to explore with your child and really HEAR his point, and let him explain why snapchat is important for him and how he will be careful not to expose himself to the dangers of it. And this is how you show love. If you just forbid, that will cause the child to either want to hide from you or feel like they can't tell/ask you something. If you simple don't care and let them do what they want, that would not teach them how to stay safe and that you care for them.
This is priceless, great advice.
Bravo!

Cheaper by the dozen
I find his point hard to grasp, in what way is snapchat any more dangerous than any other social media
