So that's me on the set of drums!! So happy to see the video is still being viewed. I had the honor and the privilege to play drums for the legends of doo-wop for many years. One of the perks was being able to meet and perform with some of the Stars, like Johnny maestro, and be a small part of the music. It was also a joy to see the different generations of people coming to watch the shows, enjoy the music and the fun times that went with it!!In our hearts the music will live on and we will always remember the music that we grew up with!! I know I will. Stay safe and stay blessed
RIP The late and great Johnny Masestro unbelievable voice play The Crests on my internet radio show Classic Soul and The Doowoop Hour me The Masterblaster.
I saw Johnny at probably one of his last performances at a concert in Woodbridge, NJ. , about 10-11 years ago. A piece of Doo Wop and a great singer left us, so missed! RIP Johnny!
I my late wife my daughter n her husband had the thrill of seeing Johnny Maestro live in Garfield N. J. I will never forget it n cherish it 4 the rest of my life RIP JOHNNY MAESTRO
Tommy, I know what Johnny Maestro meant to you, we have lost "The Maestro" but he will live in our hearts for always. Thank you for that beautiful tribute.
No one sings 'Sixteen Candles' like Johnny Maestro, but an excellent heart-felt tribute from Tommy Mara, who as a member of the Crests, had the original hit with Johnny way back. His voice is still sounding great. Keep do-wopping in heaven Johnny, we love you so!
The is exactly correct. The name was sold to Tommy because JT was in debt. Tommy had not performed or recorded with the Crests as a member. I should know. I worked with JT Carter on the last engagement before the name was sold to Tommy.
No Dean ,Mara bought the name of the Crests, he was not a member of the crests when they did their recordings. Mara was not with Johnny way back when . Most people think Mara is a big buffoon he hopes people will forget who the REAL Crests were the buffoon was not one of them. Who buys the name of a well know group and tries to pretend he was one of them way back when ? None other than fat slob Mara!
You are nothing like Johnny, but, very nice try. I will respect you for that only.... I saw him 5 times in my life and once had a drink with him. That was at the Fantasy east in the Bronx, 241st and White plains rd.. That is way back in the 70's, but I will never forget it, as long as I live. So thank you, for all that you do for Johnny, because I have loved him for 40 years!!!!!!
Congratulations on your drink with Johnny. The person singing in this video was Johnny's BEST friend. I guarantee they had a few drinks together. Better yet, they shared a stage OFTEN.
Yes, real class involves calling Johnny's widow so she could hear the tribute and crowd show their love for her husband. Maybe figure out what you are talking about before typing stupid comments. YOUR comment was classless!
