DISSENTION was their first OMV. This iteration of NEMOPHILA has no “rhythm” guitarist. HAZUKI and SAKI (AKA, Chucky) comprise NEMOPHILA’s twin guitar attack, and are top-tier lead guitarists. They have made dozens of cover-song videos. The most interesting one are the tributes to bands you don’t know (although the thumbnail to DETROIT ROCK CITY is the one that convinced me to finally click through). Try WATASHI WA ARASHIII, KURENAI, ONE NIGHT CARNIVAL, DON’T SAY LAZY, SHIMI, DIAMONDS, and ROSIER. These song by Japanese bands that inspired NEMOHILA span five decades and a variety of styles.
Yes ,from their 1st album Revive, this was my intro to the band. They have become my favorite band from Japan. I love Mayu's screams. The other guitarist on screen right/stage left is Saki. She left the band early 2024 after 3 albums, the band is moving on with just the 4. Their covers are great, but they really shine on the originals. Their first ever single was "Oiran", check out the official live version from 2023 for that. That song that just came out is "Brainwash", the 4th single from the upcoming 4th album, Apple of My Eye, the first record as a 4 piece. Recommend the 1st single from that record, "G.O.D."
Yeah I actually have G.O.D. and was going to do that one, but, wanted to rewind a bit first. Thanks for the band member explanation. I had a feeling that is what was going on.
That drummer wrote all drums notations of all NEMOPHILA songs herself and she admit that this song is one of the hardest and one of the most difficult NEMOPHILA songs for her to play. Nevertheless, she made it looks easy performing the songs solo during TAMA Drum Clinic session - Tamu endorses TAMA Drum and MEINL Cymbals.
@@DaneBramageROCKS She's also married to music composer/producer Akira Yamaoka. He's famous for music in the Silent Hill game franchise. Also worked on the two movies.
Tamu's tour de force is her playing "Kurenai". It's a Japanese Rock Anthem originally by X Japan. Nemophila does a great cover of "Kutenai". You did notice Saki and Hazuki's guitars. Count the strings. X Japan is the greatest Rock/Metal, you likely to have not every heard of.
Try their older song 'Revive.' Cool video off the Tokyo Bay upon an observation deck built in the early 70s which its name escapes me atm. EDIT: It's the Meiji Centennial.
Hey Dane!! Since you're going back to their older stuff, PLEASE check out Rollin Rollin. It's an audio only track with no MV so it RARELY gets reacted to. It is my favorite song by them. Also, Change The World live is also an absolute must watch
Like 'We Love Sweets' for HANABIE and 'Thrill' for BAND-MAID, this is the song that really launched NEMOPHILA's popularity in the J-Metal/Rock scene. Great songs that show the softer side of Nemophila. 'Ama-Te-Ras' is a quite unique 'groovy metal' song and one of their best as well. ‘G.O.D.’ is one of their newest song and 1st song as a 4-piece band And don't miss their many covers...they are all great as well!
Seeing as you’re so enthusiastic about these Japanese bands, allow me to offer you some tips on hot pronounced Japanese words. It’s generally very easy for Americans to do. First of all, the Japanese do not use Roman characters to write their language. Because people raised outside of Japan and cannot read Japanese, western scholars have developed several systems for translating Japanese into characters. It’s very straightforward. The problem is English spelling is crazy, so most Americans are not sure how to read the words. First, Japanese has exactly 5 vowels: /a/ (“ah”), /i/ (“ē”), /u/ (“ū”), /e/ (“eh”), and /o/ (“ō”). Every time you see one of these letters, it makes the same sound. If you know how to say “sushi” you already know two of them. Also, /g/ is always hard; there’s /j/ for the soft sound. Note, there is no “r” or “l” sound in Japanese. When you see /r/ in /ra/, /ri/, /ru/, /re/, or /ro/, it makes a sound like something between a Spanish /r/ or a soft /d/. Also, there is only one /i/ in NEMOPHILA, which by the way is not a Japanese word. But they pronounce it the Japanese way. So, “neh-mō-fee-la.” Now have another go at the ladies names.
Thank you. This is where the struggle comes in because someone else told me it was: NE-MO-FI-LA - then someone else tells me a different way. So my brain, as you said, gets me screwed up on the "i" - so I think I got it now. I hate that the focus on this has been not understanding how to properly pronounce it because yes, English word, but different accents. Has not been overall enjoyable doing reactions for them because of the backlash. Now, this is also not directed at you because I appreciate this explanation the best. This is just from others, not directed at you at all!
A couple of notes ... You're still not quite there with the name, it's pronounced Neh-mo-fill-uh. The drummer's name is"Tamu" (the "a" as in "cat"), not "Taymu" with "a" as in "hate". They have a whole world of music for you to check out. Plenty more metal/metalcore, but also pop, rap, hard rock, pop-punk, ballads and more. One of the most musically unpredictable bands out there.
NE-MO-FI-LA! That's what it's pronounced. No Nemophilia, no Nemofilla, Neemofila or anything else. And don't speak it the american way like with chewing gum in mouth.
Yeah to be honest, I have had some people try to tell me different ways, which makes it worse. Then I have people criticize me because it an "English" word. But then, there is the way they pronounce it with their accents, so..........guess I'll just continue to get beat up about this.

Soooooo, wait a minute. Those are at least 7 strings 🤯 I tried to find a good clear pics but.....those are not typically 5-String. I'll be darned.

OHHHH! Fun. Thank you so much, I'll jot that down
Nemo-filla is a flower that was imported to japan from California that has 5 pedals and is blue.
