I live in Roseburg, Oregon and this video is fairly accurate; what is not accurate is the fact that some August temperatures reach up into the 100 degrees during the middle of the day. Tom Sisson
Was born in Roseburg (my sister was born in coos bay…. long story); grew up in Portland. I currently live in Des Moines, Iowa, but the wife and I are moving back to Roseburg sometime this summer. Perhaps we’ll bump into one another. Thanks for the videos, so I can prepare.
Of course! Glad you found the video helpful. How did you end up in Des Moines, Iowa? Interesting! If there’s anything we can help with, don’t hesitate to reach out! 😊
No one place is everything to everyone, but Douglas County hits pretty close. It was a great place to grow up and a great place to raise kids. Surely beats LA or Seattle
Prices have softened due to less buyers in the market. In January transactions were down 30% from the previous January, and we’ve seen similar numbers for the last 4 months or so. Meaning at least one third of buyers can no longer by because of the increased interest rates. The one thing that has kept prices from dropping too significantly is the lack of inventory. There still just aren’t many houses for sale, so even though there are less buyers, the limited number of listings has kept the market fairly stable. I made a market update video a month or two ago, feel free to check it out!
House prices are crazy. Legalizing weed made rural land expensive and people moved into town, which then made town prices expensive. With interest rates so high, house prices will come down... but may take a few years.
A friend of mine in Glide had his home burn down by wildfire. He rebuilt and it was again burned down by wildfire. He moved to Virginia and unfortunately died of cancer in October. Such is common from all the Dioxin in the water from the logging. Also causes birth defects. I had been trying to get him to move where I am and I rent a 7 bedroom/5 bath house with 4 car garage on 23 acres for $153 a month. Electricity is $12 to $15, Water/Sewer/Trash is $5 a month. And it has never been colder than 54F nor hotter than 87. Pura Vida in Costa Rica. Another perk is an annual $107,300 US Income Tax Exemption. To anyone buying property, evaluation is what you paid. And there is no property tax on a primary residence costing up to $300,000. A $300,000 house here would be $1.5 Million in Roseburg. No school taxes either.
