I am planning to retire to Puerto Princesa in 2.5 years. So, looking forward to watching all of your current vlogs and future productions. Thank you for taking the time out to make these videos
Don't worry about your short absence. I was just worried if you were OK. Us wannabees want to see it can be done in style, so you are our example in progress.
Ave is so pretty. I was curious watching her adjust her glasses, and I checked: they do have LASIK in the Philippines for 50,000 pesos at St Lukes' in Manila with five star rating if her condition can be treated with LASIK. Just an FYI. That's about half price from average treatment in the USA. Great to see you loving life.
Well Ave you can never run out of recipes because if there is a will there is a way. I will give you an advice that will save you a lots of money if you are willing to save money on food, just search on RUclips and you will find thousands and thousands of recipes and they even show you how to do it.
Meh.. I had to watch over again to add up the total ($698.58). Thanks for sharing your monthly expenses. It's nice to get many different inputs to get an overall feel of a monthly budget in different areas and spending habits.
great video, LONG TIME COMING. Ave brings so much to the videos and she isn't shy about anything. LOL and it's great to actually hear what you are saying.
Yep, noticed the new cut on Ave, before you mentioned it. Good to see you back. We never heard Ave's story, other than how you met her and about her home town. She has a sophistication about her, indicative of a young lady who has worked in the business sector, International and/or Manila. Perhaps in due course more will be revealed.
Hey there! PLDT is unstable sometimes but yeah that fibre optic plan from them is quite better. Globe has fiber optic plan too. Depending on the area, globe may be better than PLDT.
Chad & Ave good to see you both back and great video we both hope to be in Palawan next year for one month and hope we can meet you both we both miss palawan
I love your videos. I was talking to my boyfriend about moving to the Philippines for a while (he's Filipino and from batangas). your videos really give me a good insight on how it's going to be for us too. thanks!
Welcome back! Best of luck with everything guys! And my 3 weeks in the Phils last month I lost like 15 lbs, and still losing! I was like 240 before the trip. But looks like u have slimmed down some bro! The crazy thing was I was eating so much and still lost weight! I think it's bc they don't have that many chemicals in the food like in U.S.
I hope not! LOL, I did a LOT of walking, hiking and moving around. I was drinking water like crazy too..Yeah maybe next time man. I do plan to visit Palawan/El Nido area...seems like the more I visit the Philippines, the more I want to return. I don't blame u one bit for moving there! I've been following your journey since Dubai so I'm just over here thinking thinking thinking...LOL But I'd want to bring some considerable finances if I moved there or have some kind of plan in motion b4 I get there as far as $ goes. Yeah, if we get up, I'll do an intro for you and your girl...maybe have u waving and bring the drone back to see the whole area. lol
As our family of 5 (and maybe one additional child) gets ready for our move to Puerto Princesa area, my budget is 95,000 Pesos per month --- but the one great uncertainty for us is the rent. Could you please suggest to me some additional vlogs of expats that have videos on you tube to watch and glean information? Again, thanks for your content. Your wife and family are adorable and you are BLESSED. (Many vlogs from Dumaguete but have not found many from Palawan.)
My fiance and I just opened a small store and in the process of getting a license to sell fertilizer. Going to be starting up a few more business ventures in the next couple of years and hopefully I can move there in five years. Unless one of our ventures really takes off.
So, my question is: if I wanted to buy a 4-wheeler versus a motorcycle, are they expensive? I’ve seen some people that have them the last time I was in puerto and coron.
My income per month is 1,400 USD per month via pension. Do you think that would be enough for Puerto Princesa. I am a 49 year old Filipino American that can cook. I am single with no dependents. I hope to cook and eat more fish and vegetables.
Absolutely, that will be plenty depending on the lifestyle you just described. It will carry a long way. You will be able to find a nice place to rent, eat out if you want, pay utilities, and still have some play money. If you have any specific questions feel free to email me at cchamb22@gmail.com
Hi nice 👍🏼 to see you guys again why not invest on satellite internet or a wifi tv antenna I had my mom setup like that overseas I think that could work good for you,you could always move with the setup anywhere
Great info! It would be good if you also put it down in a board or paper that we can freeze and exam the different cost you spoke of. Very good info to get a idea what expenses would be like. I think for us Americans it's not bad but the normal Filipino family it may be alot.
Two quick questions. In terms of kidnappings, is Palawan safe? I am not sure if Palawan is included in the State department notice, or if it is the water off the tip of Palawan and further south. Secondly, I am traveling with my wife to the Philippines for the first time, and most likely we will have to settle there. How often do you see solar power through the Philippines?
Hello, I have never felt unsafe during my time here. However, I have heard people say that expats should not go to the southern part of Palawan. They have a few Solar stores here in the city so my assumption is that there is a market here for that. Hope this helps. If you visit Palawan please let us know.
I think you could spent less on a rental though . 20K seems high . Palawan maybe higher , however is there not communities that would be half the price on the island ? ...just trying to help out !
Great to see you two again. Been wondering what had happened to you. Again I gotta say "you are very lucky to have such a great gal! If you don't end up marrying her your crazy! Ave has one of the best smiles I've ever seen, she is Gorgeous!!
Thanks so much Paul. It's good to be back and we promise to keep the vids coming. Yes, I almost cannot believe how lucky I am to be with such a great person. :)
Thanks for the video so many great details. Just wondering, what's the weather like in May to August? We're thinking of taking a long holiday there but realised that it may be the rain season.
I see your not wasting any time I have been reading vlogs for many yrs and they all say WAIT! 2/3 Yrs, watch and learn the customs just don't jump into water you do not know how deep it is, I hope you have done your due dillegence my friend Good Luck, I feel you have the right women she seems like a very happy go lucky type of gal and happy to have you, I wish you both the Best, God Bless and Good Luck with your Future in the PI.
Thank so much Stacy. Yes, I think I am in a good position. I'll be able to give more details on exactly what it is in a few weeks. I think you will see that I am not leaving myself too exposed to local changes or challenges.
Here in the Philadelphia, home of Comcast, the US's largest cable/Internet provider, the standalone 25 Mbps Internet service is almost $70 (3,400 php) month. I know people who can spend $25 in one sitting at McDonald's! One person.
Because I may move to PH part time. I will have $1600 a month passive income. I just ask everyone online. How much is your rent? I did not get that in the V-log?
There are millions of recipes online so there's no way you run out of ideas. When I first came here (US), I did not have any culinary talent but I watch food network and other cooking channels to learn skills and techniques. I can cook pretty much almost anything now. The problem is my husband gained 50 lbs and I get the blame. LOL
Thanks, very interesting.I just got back to back $200 utilities over here. Ran AC too much and hot shower and TV all night with internet too and big screens. Goal now is to get down below $100 total. The rest is plenty cheap like $1.25 for food on the street. And cheap noodles etc. Fruit a little high sometimes not too. Hahahha, best wishes. PV
Welcome back you guys! Been wondering where you were! :-) here do you guys usually go for your food and entertainment? I imagine the food choices are plenty if it's anything like the cities and towns I've been in in the Philippines. Yo Chad, eat more vegetables! lol.. No excuse for that with so many fresh vegetables in the Philippines! Good to see you guys... Peace.
ha ha, thank... I def need to eat more veggies. We usually just mix it up when we eat out, but most times we end up in the fast food places like McDonalds because of Ave's daughter. It's a good excuse for me to eat bad foods :)
Ahhh man! lol.. McDonalds? lol. Are there any Jollibees there? Are you eating more filipino food yet? By the way, yes, you're missing out on a great football season so far! Haha...
Pretty high for food and entertainment expenses. Internet is a good place to look for recipes. Abe can start learning on how to cook from simple to culinary dishes. But if you're happy with your monthly expenses then all is well for everybody. When I was living in the Philippines I never learned on how to cook for I have someone cooked for me, but when I came here in the states 27 yrs ago I learned to do everything for myself and that starts with cooking. Glad you're okay guys, was wondering what happened to you.
okay . ned and michelle i follow for some years they use 1000 dollar a month but they have only angel to take care of hahahaha i am so jealous on you guys
Sad to hear these high prices:( Many of these are cheaper in Hungary-European Union....no comment...I guess I will prefer Sri lanka which is much cheaper . Thanks
We actually did a previous video on our apartment so we didn't talk about the detail on that. We currently pay 19,000 pesos which is high for this area. However, we are moving to a new place this week which is 12,000 pesos and will be shooting a video for that one. :)
wow.. the internet really sucks for that price!! I think I can live in the Philippines just eating at any turo-turo ...located in any street Corner for P150/meal😂 😂😂 Thanks for sharing!
You create videos. it's virtuous but time consuming. Anyway if your camera has image stabilisation, just walk around with it every day. you'll make interesting videos much quicker. :) P.S. I had no idea viewers on RUclips could get so worried... don't people have lives? :D
Just watched again your last video, so much rumour-mongering in there if you could read the last comments there. Well, looking forward to your business venture then & wish you success. Please check Ike Stranathan videos, he's American too but it appears he has been very successful on his business ventures in the Philippines. He's not a regular youtube vlogger, he's a part time TV ad model too, why not submit your portfolio to an ad agency there, might land as part time model too casted as a Boss, a Dad, a sportsman LOL ! They hire foreigners there on TVC ! Who knows ?
It's not that hard to give a simple budget breakdown is it??Most other youtuber's get straight to the point explaining elecricity - food - whatever & a grand total. Please Learn from others.
nice breakdown guys, I had a X tell me she spent this & that which made sense and you guys just confirmed she was telling the truth! I hope to try to live there. I am still trying to see if I can do air B&B in Las Vegas. Then use the profits to live a single life hopefully in Davao!
You are spending way toooooo much at least 2.5 to 3 times a normal family budget....she is supposed to slow you down buddy but she is not doing that it seams.....so.......stay awake
Does she know how to Boil Water? Hope you are not doing housework, like a lot of American guys do Stateside...you know, oh honey, I'll do the dishes and make the bed today....All joke lang.
Hey guys .. you are spending too much .. hang on guys ... Control' your budget .. I am happy my wife is not spending like Ave .. it's a warning bell guys for you ...
you look skinny.. hope lets home business give food to table. philiphines is not place to go live with saving..you eventually run run out then...i wish all good luck to you
I am planning to retire to Puerto Princesa in 2.5 years. So, looking forward to watching all of your current vlogs and future productions. Thank you for taking the time out to make these videos
Awesome Joel, I am sure you will love it here. This place is really growing. I am sure within 2 years they will have a Starbucks as well, he he.
Thank you Chad I appreciate your advice
Don't worry about your short absence. I was just worried if you were OK. Us wannabees want to see it can be done in style, so you are our example in progress.
Ave is so pretty. I was curious watching her adjust her glasses, and I checked: they do have LASIK in the Philippines for 50,000 pesos at St Lukes' in Manila with five star rating if her condition can be treated with LASIK. Just an FYI. That's about half price from average treatment in the USA. Great to see you loving life.
Thank you very much Andrew. It's funny you mention that cause I brought it up to Ave before but she is scared to have the surgery, he he.
Well Ave you can never run out of recipes because if there is a will there is a way. I will give you an advice that will save you a lots of money if you are willing to save money on food, just search on RUclips and you will find thousands and thousands of recipes and they even show you how to do it.
F yt... PINTEREST! They have amazing recipes, and you can find Filipino dishes on there, as well! Do NOT use those Mamasita packages!
Glad to see you two back. Your wife reminds me so much of my wife what a cutie.....Makes me smile just watching you two.
Thanks so much Derek, feels good to be back. :)
Finally! I love your channel and have been waiting patiently. Great video and waiting for more.
Thank so much David, we will for sure be bring more videos quickly.
Meh.. I had to watch over again to add up the total ($698.58). Thanks for sharing your monthly expenses. It's nice to get many different inputs to get an overall feel of a monthly budget in different areas and spending habits.
Thanks, yeah I should have put a total in there. :)
I have lived here 4 years now and my wife of 3 years and i have almost the same Budget ..nice to meet you and congrats you make a cute couple
Thanks Frank, good to know that we are not going crazy with our budget, ha ha. Which island are you on?
great video, LONG TIME COMING.
Ave brings so much to the videos and she isn't shy about anything. LOL
and it's great to actually hear what you are saying.
Thank you very much, we have missed doing the vids.
Great to see you guys back again, I was just wondering about you the other day.
Thanks so much, we are back and here to stay ... ha ha. :)
Hey JP, good to hear from you again. That's a good point, we should have Ave tell more of her story.
Nice update, was wondering where you both were? Glad you're back!
Thanks Greg.
Thanks for the video! But why nobody never puts budget information into description?
good point, I didn't even think to do that. :(
You can still add it.
Thank you for sharing. You both are so great together. I appreciate all the info and look forward to your future vids
Hey there! PLDT is unstable sometimes but yeah that fibre optic plan from them is quite better. Globe has fiber optic plan too. Depending on the area, globe may be better than PLDT.
Thanks Moon, I'll take anything as long as it is fast :)
Good to see you back Shorts! If Ave gets any more beautiful we'll probably never see another video :)
Chad & Ave good to see you both back and great video

Thanks so much as always Geoffrey, looking forward to your visit.
I love your videos. I was talking to my boyfriend about moving to the Philippines for a while (he's Filipino and from batangas). your videos really give me a good insight on how it's going to be for us too. thanks!
Thank you very much Sarah, I am very happy to hear that. Hope you both get to move over here soon, I am sure you will love it :)
where did you get your excellent music? much nicer than most of the other copyright free music.
Thanks, I usually look on soundcloud.com where artists offer up license free music to download.
Welcome back! Best of luck with everything guys! And my 3 weeks in the Phils last month I lost like 15 lbs, and still losing! I was like 240 before the trip. I hope not! LOL, I did a LOT of walking, hiking and moving around. I was drinking water like crazy too..Yeah maybe next time man. No, it's actually in Ma ao near Bago City in Negros Occidental.
she is so adorable

My wife wants to show me Palawan. If we visit there, I will let you know.
Maybe I missed the comment, how much is your rental house, and some details around that?
We actually have a video dedicated to our apartment if you want to check it out. We spend on the high side locally for 20,000 pesos per month.
I cant seem to find the rental Video .... could you sent or post the link ?
I think you could spent less on a rental though . 20K seems high . Palawan maybe higher , however is there not communities that would be half the price on the island ? ...just trying to help out !

Thanks for the video so many great details. Just wondering, what's the weather like in May to August? We're thinking of taking a long holiday there but realised that it may be the rain season.

may i ask for a 4d 3n. PALAWAN ,, BUDGET INCLUDING AIRFARE, , ON CORON , OR EL NIDO, OR PUERTO PRINSESA, INCLUDING AIRFARE, SO i may have options
Go to fresh market as much as possible ,Robinson and SM are very expensive I had the same worries
So about $1000 USD a month guys?
Roughly, not including Nicole's school fee's and expenses.
Because I may move to PH part time. I will have $1600 a month passive income. I just ask everyone online. How much is your rent? I did not get that in the V-log?
Our rent is 19,000 pesos per month but it's on the high side for this area.
wow most expats are like 8000 P?
anything on the ocean for 19K?
so you move to the Phil. and get married... when did this happened..
How much did it cost you guys to have that house you got?
There are millions of recipes online so there's no way you run out of ideas. When I first came here (US), I did not have any culinary talent but I watch food network and other cooking channels to learn skills and techniques. I can cook pretty much almost anything now. The problem is my husband gained 50 lbs and I get the blame. LOL
he he, thanks Portia... I am going to pass this advice to Ave. I just hope I don't put on the weight :)
That's a great budget! I assume you own your dwelling which makes it even more affordable.
Thanks, actually we don't. We did a future video about our apartment and costs. Currently pay on the high side of 20,000 pesos per month.
We only live once my brother. Carpe diem!
PV
As long as my philipina girl and I don't go over $1850USD a month, were happy :)
Where exactly do you live in Palawan? How is much the condo monthly?
We are in Puerto Princesa on Wescom Road, the monthly rent is 20,000 pesos which is on the high side for the area.
How does someone get to Palawan from Manila?
They have a direct flight fro Manila, it's less than 1 hr. Check out Cebu Pacific.
Oh perfect!
What is the total cost for a couple to live in Palawan for one month? Can one rent a condo?
Haha...
O yeah, they have 3 Jolibees within a 10 min drive from me and have just came out with a chili cheese hot dog. I eat about 3 per week now. ha ha.
I enjoy your Videos mate, keep em coming. BTW: whats the fishing like over there? Greetings from Auckland, NZ
love Ave,
Pretty high for food and entertainment expenses. Internet is a good place to look for recipes. Abe can start learning on how to cook from simple to culinary dishes. But if you're happy with your monthly expenses then all is well for everybody. Glad you're okay guys, was wondering what happened to you.
Thanks Jane, yes we really need to cut down our "eating out" expenses. We go a little crazy with that.

he he, thanks. Yeah, she kicks my butt on the way I eat. I hate the internet here, not sure if I will ever adjust to it. :)
so you use 1200 us dollar a month to live there?
It's a little more than that with Nicoles school. Those are just our basic budget items to give everyone an idea.
okay . ned and michelle i follow for some years they use 1000 dollar a month but they have only angel to take care of hahahaha i am so jealous on you guys
Do you grow your own food if not try hyrdroponics.

Sad to hear these high prices:( Many of these are cheaper in Hungary-European Union....no comment...I guess I will prefer Sri lanka which is much cheaper . Thanks
How much is your rent?
We actually did a previous video on our apartment so we didn't talk about the detail on that. We currently pay 19,000 pesos which is high for this area. However, we are moving to a new place this week which is 12,000 pesos and will be shooting a video for that one. :)

We don't care about you, we just want to see Ave...lol!! JK Shorts keep up the good work!!
You create videos. it's virtuous but time consuming.
Anyway if your camera has image stabilisation, just walk around with it every day. you'll make interesting videos much quicker. :)

Cute couple.. 😍😍😍
Thank you very much Binky :)
Who knows ?
Thanks so much for the support and advice Jodie :) I will definitely check out Stranathan's vids.
It's not that hard to give a simple budget breakdown is it??Most other youtuber's get straight to the point explaining elecricity - food - whatever & a grand total. Please Learn from others.
I have organic fertilizer here in Philippines. Please get in touch if you would like to know more. Salamat!
Interesting , I may reach out soon as Ave's has a lot of family members in agriculture business.
