Just installed these a few days ago. Rears are easy enough. To make it way easier, here’s some tips.
Undo the LCA nuts and pull out the axels. The bolt holding the axle takes a 1&1/16 inch socket. Reattach the LCA and pull down on the hub with the strut still bolted up top.
For sticking the new struts in, I had a little trouble dropping them in for the last 1/4 inch or so. If you run into this problem, use a jack to compress the suspension and knock the strut back and forth from the end-link mounts on the strut itself with a hammer and rag to protect the finish.
I come from China. I like my JETTA MK5. I often get up at 3 in the middle of the night to repair it. Most Chinese people who own JETTA5 hate it because it often breaks. They don’t like the stiff posture and prefer soft cars. Maybe Most Chinese people are really tired at work, and most of the MK5s that are more than 12 years old are scrapped. They like to buy new, soft, and light ones. Even if the chassis is like an electric car, I am lonely playing MK5 in China.
Just got these for my mk6 golf and I couldn’t find the instructions online anywhere so glad you have them in your description
I've got them in my room for my Mk6 Golf. How are they?
Great video guys. Nice to see a video showing what problems actually happen. Not just everything perfectly clean and no problems. This will definitely help me when I do my new suspension. PS leave it slammed!
Bruh your explanation 💯 .
It would be helpful if you had mentioned the size of the bolts
i’m planning on installing coilovers on my mk6 gti and so my question is what bolts should i be replacing if i’m following your video?
Just started installing the same kit on my MK5 GTI today. Bottom end link bolt just keeps spinning. Outside of cutting it out, any suggestions. I have new end links so I'm not turn concern about saving them. Great vid!
Shell C is the triple square in the stud stripped?
@@ModernEngineer I'm a certified dump ass. If I had removed removed all of the wheel well covering I would have noticed the triple square. Back to work I go. Dumb ass hat on in all. Appreciate it!
I know this video is a couple years old now but do you remember if you have 50mm or 55mm struts?
Review of how the ride feels now? Just installed the front. Going to finish doing the rear later
update??
They are alright for the price. A little bouncy, but still decent. For daily driving I’d suggest not to go too low. If this is your project car then go low lol.
So do you just use non adjustable enlinks ? Or did you use adjustable ones?
Awesome. Nice & quick video
This is why I paid my local indy shop to install a GTI suspension into my MK6 Sportwagon.
how are these coilovers?
I bought this kit and am in the middle of installing it. For the rear springs is it the upper strut bearing on top? If yes, is the metal part going on top of the spring or the rubber part?
Please check out my installation video. If you still have questions let me know
@@ModernEngineer Hey did check it out. It looks like you put the old part that sat on top of the older string coils. Is that correct?
how is the ride quality of ecs?
Do you recommend lowering springs or coil overs? I have the same car
depends on a lot of things. Are you worried about money? time? performance? visuals?
That depends what you’re looking for. For the money, you get a slammed car with stiff suspension. If that’s what you want, then yes. I will post a full review.
Modern Engineer I have saved up for some raceland coil overs now
Out of curiosity, what kind of floor car lift do you have?
Atlas - I have a video about it. Go check it out!
Any discount code?
Well it work for a 2017 volkswagen jetta tsi?
Will what work? Installing new suspension?
Is it possible to only buy coilovers only for the front end? Are mk5 Jettas sports suspension?
Are any of the bolts for the rears torque to yield ?
All of them
Hey man what size wheels and tires are you running?
In this video, these are the stock mk6 golf r wheels.

@@ModernEngineer oh great, what what size tires do you have? I want to make sure I wont get fender rub
I guess I should specify - the wheels throughout the video are stock mk5 Jetta wheels, the wheels at the end and in the thumbnail are golf r. P225/40R18
@@ModernEngineer thank you so much
epic!
Dude thank you so damn much i have the exact same car but a 06. Wtf volkswaggen for the dumb german ideas
