Even more impressive when you consider Angelina was probably 12 when she recorded this, i think she posted this version just after turning 13. While Whitney was 29 when she recorded this in a fully equipped studio over the span of several weeks. Angelina did this in a home studio in just a couple of takes. Absolutely incredible!
At 5:30-5:40 she's struggling for some air, then she takes in a 1/4sec of air @5:40 and somehow crushes the next 90 sec before a full intake of breath. I can see why not.many singers try and cover this. She's unreal.

Assalam Alaykum Habibi. I think I remember the first time I heard Whitney RIP on the radio, and later saw her on TV, in the US in the early 1980’s. No one can belt like her. No one. Angelina is no Whitney Houston and can never cover that song like Whitney sang it, but she can come close. However, I can assure you that if Whitney were alive, she wouldn’t have been able to cover ANY of Angelina’s original songs with the complex and multi-layered voice that Angelina has had, albeit at 17 or even younger. Angelina’s voice pierces through my soul, an attribute missing in Whitney’s voice, at least for me. That's why we love ♥our princess, this God's gift to humanity.

Excellent reaction ! You must see her performing live in an outdoor concert last year in Norway where she was absolutely perfect ! She was 16 then and her studio version which followed was an absolutey a masterdul performance ! Remember Whitney was in her 30"s when she recorded this song ! Angelina is a young teenager and has full commsnd of her voice ! Might have struggled slightly at the very end but are you kidding me she killed it ! @@rickrack4812 Angelina has to deal with the wind atmosphere in the first recording and it didn't come out the way they wanted for National TV so she had to do it a second immediately and she was spectacular ! A true professional and it was still windy ! What a fabulous performance !
She did it because people kept saying she's good. But she's not a belter. She could never do justice to a Whitney Houston song. So she practiced it, mastered it and presented it as proof of her talent and love of these idols of hers. As you can see from that video of her doing this very song as practically a baby, she's been doing this song for most of her life. And at the age of 13 (YES 13) she has the vocal and spiritual capacity to cover just about anything you can name. I think she NAILS it here. She has since covered it several more times, each time offering more of her own style and less of Whitney. When one sees professional singers and vocal coaches reacting to her, it only confirms what you think you are hearing already. She is THE voice of our generation.

And then I heard THIS version and Angelina breathed new life into this song for me. I seriously listened to this song 50-100 times in its *various iterations* once Angelina covered it. As to those “iterations”… Angelina must love this song too! There are at least 3 or 4 more versions that Angelina has sung… with even more soul, character and uniqueness than this first version has. The amazing thing here is that Angelina sings this classic live in the original key, something Whitney rarely did herself when singing live. IT's really hard.! In her concerts last summer she toned it down a tad and didn't strain as much as she does here. She's so good!!!! 😎
This is a great video of Angelina paying a tribute to Whitney when she was 13. She has done the song a few times when she was 16. I would check out her studio version, black and white at age 16. Her voice has deepened and become fuller.

She always gave us a stunning deliver in this song as this one being her first recording of it and, last year, she released two more recent renditions that are even better than this, IMO. I kid you not. Now, what if I tell you that the original composer of this song, Mr. David Foster, who produced this hit for Whitney, have already met Angelina personally, when she was around 9 yo!!! He already even worked with Angelina in a charity concert in LA. He knows better what she is capable of, as well as many other major musicians and producers in industry. You should lisstening when she do other genres, she can do anything. Take when she sings "I'drather go blind" only 12 years, you will be gobsmacked. Or her tribute to Aretha Franklin when she passed away, "Natural women". She changed it and told you a different story. A classic composer Nico Cartosio composed a speciell song only for her from a 1600 poem, "Song for A". Please check them out.
I didn't particularly like this song until AJ did this at 12/13. Even then, it had to grow on me. Back when Whitney did this, I was a metalhead. It took AJ to change what I listen to.

Whitney is one of Angelina's inspirations and idols, she first sang a Whitney song at age 1 1/2 with a toy microphone which is available to view as a video. Not just one performance last year (age 16) but four more at outdoor concert venues in Norway. The indoor one the most finished but every instance is better than this three year old one.

You're going to love what she did with this at 16. There are two important performances to watch from 2022: the studio black and white version and the live performance, outdoors, on Allsang på Grensen on TV 2. Outstanding performances, respectful homage with a bit more of an Angelina touch and a LOT of power.
Boudy, as always I loved your admiring reaction to our wonderful Angelina, so spontaneous and genuine. This song is one of Angelina's historical references and last year at her concert on July 10th she revealed to us that it was also a tribute to one of the pillars of her life, her adored grandmother Mery, who had recently had surgery and she had not been able to accompany her to Norway. The passion she infused live into her version of this song was something that enraptured all of us who were there, it was simply sublime.💛🧡❤

HI Boudy, Angelina was only 13 during this performance, Whitney was 29 , I went and listened to whitneys version, She was kind of all over the place with her notes. Angelina was spot on. Maybe whitney was into the drug scene then. But thats life. Angelina was better and 13, God bless her R.I.P. Whitney. Angelina is certainly fearless! At this age it takes her to her vocal limits, it's not really her key. My feeling is that she did this for David Foster, she was going to be at a charity event with him. As it turns out, David wanted her to sing jazz! He was a fan of her from when she sang in Singapore, What a difference a day makes...

Love your reaction and I have to agree that Whitney Houston set the bar so high that few could meet her standards. She was an incredible singer and will always be one of my favorite's. Angelina's covers are always done with complete respect and homage to the original artist but in a way that is totally her own. It is one of the things I love about her. The song was written by David Foster and Linda Thompson and is one of the principal songs from the movie "The Bodyguard". The lyrics in that context speaks to the love between the man and woman BUT in July 2022 in live concert at Kurbadhagen in Sandefjord, Norway Angelina dedicated this song to her grandmother and I heard those powerful lyrics in a whole new way. Once again I was reminded of Angelina's ability to give new meaning to established lyrics and I was completely undone by her performance. I have been following Angelina since the NGT days and I have long since run out of accolades and adjectives that come close to explaining how and why I find her so captivating. I am unabashedly one of her "Angels"

You should lisstening when she do other genres, she can do anything. Take when she sings "I'drather go blind" only 12 years, you will be gobsmacked. Or her tribute to Aretha Franklin when she passed away, "Natural women". She changed it and told you a different story. A classic composer Nico Cartosio composed a speciell song only for her from a 1600 poem, "Song for A". Please check them out.
I didn't particularly like this song until AJ did this at 12/13. Even then, it had to grow on me. Back when Whitney did this, I was a metalhead. It took AJ to change what I listen to.

Whitney is one of Angelina's inspirations and idols, she first sang a Whitney song at age 1 1/2 with a toy microphone which is available to view as a video. She has so much respect for Whitney and has covered this song several times over the years and everyone is spectacular....most notable the studio recording at her favorite antique furniture store at age 16....might want to have a look at that one, exceptional. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Not just one performance last year (age 16) but four more at outdoor concert venues in Norway. The indoor one the most finished but every instance is better than this three year old one.

There are two important performances to watch from 2022: the studio black and white version and the live performance, outdoors, on Allsang på Grensen on TV 2. Outstanding performances, respectful homage with a bit more of an Angelina touch and a LOT of power.
Boudy, as always I loved your admiring reaction to our wonderful Angelina, so spontaneous and genuine. This song is one of Angelina's historical references and last year at her concert on July 10th she revealed to us that it was also a tribute to one of the pillars of her life, her adored grandmother Mery, who had recently had surgery and she had not been able to accompany her to Norway. The passion she infused live into her version of this song was something that enraptured all of us who were there, it was simply sublime.💛🧡❤

HI Boudy, Angelina was only 13 during this performance, Whitney was 29 , I went and listened to whitneys version, She was kind of all over the place with her notes. Angelina was spot on. Maybe whitney was into the drug scene then. But thats life. Angelina was better and 13, God bless her R.I.P. Whitney. So glad you did this version first! It is absolutely incredible that Angelina was able to pull this off. It shows versatility almost beyond compare, because this certainly not in her wheelhouse. Now I really look forward to you discovering somewhere down the line of videos how Angelina makes this song her own with her wonderfully mature 16 year old voice. The BW video is probably the «best» in technical terms. But for me, standing ten meters away when she did it on an open stage with a four piece jazz band has every other version beat…

Live, put on the spot, sitting cross legged like no big deal and sounds every bit as good as the vid she made when she was 16, but no production etc.
Thank you, Boudy! Another spectacular reaction to our darling Angelina loaded with so much information. When this one came out it surprised all of us and we wondered if it was too much for her. She put her 'all' into it and at the same time she never reached beyond what would be harmful to her voice. This is when a lot of us began to really understand how musically brilliant she was.

Love your reaction and I have to agree that Whitney Houston set the bar so high that few could meet her standards. She was an incredible singer and will always be one of my favorite's. Angelina's covers are always done with complete respect and homage to the original artist but in a way that is totally her own. It is one of the things I love about her. The song was written by David Foster and Linda Thompson and is one of the principal songs from the movie "The Bodyguard". The lyrics in that context speaks to the love between the man and woman BUT in July 2022 in live concert at Kurbadhagen in Sandefjord, Norway Angelina dedicated this song to her grandmother and I heard those powerful lyrics in a whole new way. Once again I was reminded of Angelina's ability to give new meaning to established lyrics and I was completely undone by her performance. I have been following Angelina since the NGT days and I have long since run out of accolades and adjectives that come close to explaining how and why I find her so captivating. I am unabashedly one of her "Angels"

It is surmised that she recorded this after hearing critical comments that she could not belt. She was 12 if I remember correctly. Note 9:28 she puts her hand on her hip, and smiles at the end, as to say “there”.
