The Lost Village that built the Derwent Dams - Birchinlee Tin Town
This is a re-edit of a video from March 2023
Due to part of the soundtrack needing to be replaced
as a result of copyright protected music that is still,
to this day, listed as copyright free
    on the source website.
Image & video updates have also been implemented
Birchinlee is the site of "Tin Town", a village built by the Derwent Valley Water Board for the workers (and their families) who constructed the Derwent and Howden Dams between 1902 and 1916.
In this video i take a walk in search of any remains of Birchinlee Tin Town as well as reminders of what was once the Bamford and Howden Railway that was constructed for the dams between 1903 and 1906.
