Satellite radio is about not losing your local station on road trips. As a kid in the backseat, I hated having to rescan different stations all the time, and I love how automobile companies quickly adapted. For more documentaries about the world of vehicles, please subscribe.

Had Sirius in 2003 and next car had XM built in. I still have SiriusXM but remember I liked XM better. Too bad they were allowed to merge, too many monopolies and no competition so no other similar choices.

sirius and xm were killing each other by offering the car companies huge discounts, basically both were idiots they did not realize the market was limited for an otherwise good product

When driving I-10 1990 to CA you got out west TX there was only one station. It split between English and Spanish. It was all you could get .

One thing Sirius and XM have in common besides being both satellite radio, they go all fuzzy whenever you're in a tunnel or parking garage.

I think both companies now use geostationary satellites above the equator, so you have to have a view of the southern sky (unless your in a city covered by a terrestrial repeater).

keep making content. I know how hard these are as I make this type of video. You’re better than many many others.
Also, they gave me a trial of sat radio. It is useless. CarPlay and the internet wins for city dwellers.

I had XM for a few years, mainly because they had the NASCAR station. I was on the road a lot at the time and was tired of missing the races. After a few years, XM changed the format and lost NASCAR. I dropped it and waited until the merger was was done to see if I wanted to try again. It was a big nope for me. NASCAR was part of a bundle of 6 channels. Out of the 6, I didn't want my kids to have access to 4. So I was going to have to pay for the basic subscription, pay extra for the bundle and pay even more to block those 4 channels. The price was close to paying for cable TV!

Ubiquitous LTE or 5G will kill satellite radio eventually.

I think we all need to get a class-action lawsuit against Sirius to get them to start playing MORE music. Nobody should want to cancel a service that serves them. Nobody should want to change a channel that plays good music for over an hour. Sirius needs to get SERIOUS about better disc jocking, and more variations and varieties of music than just " Top Ten commercial music without commercials." Their system is failing and it is not doable for so many that they should wonder about what is to become of their stations, and their personal ASSULT on Classic Rock and the future of Channel 26.

I started out as an XM subscriber, but I ended up with both in my car for a few years until they merged. After the merger, I felt it was a waste of bandwidth to duplicate the programming on both systems. They had a complex merger. because Sirius and XM in Canada did not merge right away. I'm not sure exactly what the situation is now, but I do believe they got rid of the Sirius tundra orbit; now everything is geostationary at the equator.

My understanding is that there's too much electrical interference with a.m. in an electric vehicle so the government can make demands, but if it won't physically work... the car companies are performing an exercise in futility by continuing to put them in.

Play by play sports are aired on AM radio. If you don't like sports, there is no need for AM
