@@nicolascordone8180 I've never seen one for sale used. I understand they were a complete flop. Too expensive was the big problem, I think, and the price made people mock all aspects of it. Whereas the little robotic animal music players that reacted were widely-popular because they were cute and cheap. The Rolly was very cute, it was just terribly expensive for a toy.
Always loved how inventive and creative SONY is. They have a history of taking chances and often coming up with weird devices. Sometimes that leads to things that become very successful and iconic, and other times it just leads to some odd, esoteric devices that go nowhere :)
To be fair the Playstation Vita was an awesome device. It was just let down by Sony going overboard with the anti-piracy bollocks and stupidly selling a console which, when bought with the overpriced 64GB proprietary memory card, winded up costing more than a 250GB PS3. But outside of that it was one of the earliest handheld consoles I can think of that utilised AR and is also the only handheld Playstation which, through use of the rear touchpad, front touch screen, and secondary analog stick, gave you access to every button and option you'd usually find on a dualshock 4.
Missed the opportunity to buy one of these as they were rare. I still like the overall design a mechanical ruby ball. SONY mobile have a new ball speaker coming out that uses the flaps as it moves with the rythmn of the music I will look into investing in that.
That thing is so cool!!! I'm probably out of luck in getting it though because either; 1:it's probably only in japan, and 2: it probably has a high price tag
Well thank God they played an ACTUAL SONG at the end there cause I was like these noises are great and I love how it reacts to them but like I wanna watch it dance hahahaha. It amazes me that this is being demonstrated THIRTEEN years ago. Incredible. Why don’t we have more cool gadgets like this maaaan
"Is an egg-shaped digital robotic music player made by Sony, combining music functions with robotic dancing. It has two wheels that allow it to rotate and spin, as well as two bands of colored LED light running around its edge and cup-like "wings" (or "arms" according to the Sony sonystyle USA website) which can open and close on either end, all of which can be synchronized to the music being played." - Wikipedia
Hey look it's that stupid thing that's been around for over 5 years adding to Sony's money pit because nobody cares about or purchases it. This thing should be in the $1 bin at a Sharper Image.
+J Five "Sony's money pit" Sony has $150 billon bud, more than a ton of other companies. They profited almost $2.2 billion this year. Larger profit than LG, McDonalds, Amazon, and Oracle.
Do people understand it gives you a new sensation of sound.. it can redirect the sound and give some speciall effects like the ones in a harmonica (covering the loudspeakers), it not just "dance" I think it's amazing
This did come out 5 years ago, but only in select stores. Most commonly in the retail Sony Style stores. I used to work in one, and we sold a grand total of 5 Rolly's. 2 of them came back. Long story short, discontinued.
I have one, and I'm sorry to tell you your comments are all wrong, they were about $500 I think when I got mine, it still works and I believe the firmware upgrades are free, I don't think Sony makes these anymore, I got mine some 4 years ago or so.
for those who do could not understand what for this device was created: with the movement and closing/opening caps this device gives much more realistic sound, the problem for now is that this device is not programed yet to act correctly for most of the sounds...
I remember they were so expensive back then. A grand, really? Although now i see the prices online and seems like it was a good investment. It kinda held heir value a little bit
for the first time i am proud to say an egg shaped robot can dance better than me and that this is the first time i ever used the words egg shaped robot
@DeathAngelHRA its called creativity. they always do prototypes like these as R&D experiments, tho some come out of the market as weird things like these.
I still want one of these
😂
I just bought one after years of rewatching this video over and over x3
@@AveryDelMiller How much does a working one cost these days? I always wondered if "Music's A Language" was a pre-programmed demo song or something.
@@nicolascordone8180 Finding one would be neat, but I definitely can't pay much for it. Thanks for the info!

Back in the day when Sony was pushing out innovative products. They stopped in 2010 smh
Sony could’ve been like Samsung

Я всё её хочу)
Did this ever get released ? I always liked how sony and LG always brought in different dynamics and pushed the development of technology.
Japanese technology in a nutshell
Hello. Can you tell key signature of song by ear? If yes what key is the music in from 2:00 to 3:01?
2021 and it is still amazing
This is so cute!! I would totally have it replace my boom box!
I have one for long time and its absolutely gorgeous ^^
Well thank God they played an ACTUAL SONG at the end there cause I was like these noises are great and I love how it reacts to them but like I wanna watch it dance hahahaha.

I LOVE YOU SONY

Hard to stop watching this... very entertaining!
OMG THATS A ROBOT!!!

It looks like a football XD
Honesty

That's already a software program, but I guess great minds think alike

Мне понравилось когда он воспроизводил звук вертолета
Мне тоже , а еще звук поезда :)
Милашки Поняшки gb
Still looks amazing in 2021
索尼大法好,众生都是为索尼来!!!!
i'm sure i'd break this shit after 10mn ! ahahaha !

It strikes me as interesting that this useless, expensive toy was a flop when so many other useless, expensive toys are smash hits.
J Five UNIDO
Don't you want to shut up if you don't know anything about it.
soon 2020... and we still havent found anything amazing like this...
Do people understand it gives you a new sensation of sound.. it can redirect the sound and give some speciall effects like the ones in a harmonica (covering the loudspeakers), it not just "dance"
I think it's amazing
I feel like nobody is here but hello to people in 2021
Japan always makes the cutest robots :3
The technology is scaring me more and more day by day D:
sir you made my day
Glad this finally came to market!
This did come out 5 years ago, but only in select stores. Most commonly in the retail Sony Style stores. I used to work in one, and we sold a grand total of 5 Rolly's. 2 of them came back. Long story short, discontinued.
WOW! it's a really useful gadget, everybody should have one at home... :D
I have one, and I'm sorry to tell you your comments are all wrong, they were about $500 I think when I got mine, it still works and I believe the firmware upgrades are free, I don't think Sony makes these anymore, I got mine some 4 years ago or so.
I'm sure other people have probably said something already, but this was available from the sony online store, but sadly "no longer available"
No Words !!!!!!!!!
Amazing ! :D
Now that's innovation. (Probably the worlds most advanced and expensive Chotchkie ever too. :)
AWESOME, Imagine having a video game console like that
I actually have one laying around somewhere. Is it worth anything?
for those who do could not understand what for this device was created:
with the movement and closing/opening caps this device gives much more realistic sound, the problem for now is that this device is not programed yet to act correctly for most of the sounds...
A lot of new tech devices that we'd never see but readily available for consumer in Japan....they keep the good stuff for themselves :)
What an awesome toy!! I'm assuming it records music as well?
You guys dont get how useful this product is it is used by the military it is very handy scouting a building.
Very High Quality
Dear Santa...this is what I want next Christmas.
I promise to be extra good.
Posted in 2007?
Shit, robots are going to be fundamental in our lives soon.
I really like this kind of technology
The latest Sony Music Player, The Rolly, will be released in Japan 29th of the September...
Amazing!
is it only me or is this the cutest thing!
wow its osam sony is my fav brand..
The real 3D music...!!! wow!!! amazin ideas
id love to see some metal played through it :) AWESOME!!
My cat would love this thing... I didn't know it existed until now...
it's 2011 already, is this thing out yet?
The awkward moment when a little robot speaker dances better than you can.
Sounds most useful for the components inside rather then the unit itself.
Nice, but the question is... will it blend?
newborn and toddlers loves this
I found this on the Sony online store, and the price has dropped from $399 down to $229, but sadly is "no longer available"
thats all it did? its very cute though❤
That thing is adorable.
This + Siri = EPIC!
Will this be released to the U.S also?
i said it once and i will say it again Japan is the best at developing new technology
It's awesome! I want one...
I remember they were so expensive back then. A grand, really? Although now i see the prices online and seems like it was a good investment. It kinda held heir value a little bit
so when can we expect this technology for fleshlights?
Yeah, but will it blend?
Looks like a future football transforming. Also I want one!
That's super cute! 🥰
6 years later its still not released
I wonder what it would do if you play "Through the fire & flames" by Dragonforce
I think these could make up a routine on demand, but to really do what's shown, you had to program them.
Is it available In Australia yet if it is when can u get it in Sydney ?????????
Good Tech ,
Good Sound ,
and the point is? Great engineering btw!
does the flashing lights cause seizures as well?
for the first time i am proud to say an egg shaped robot can dance better than me and that this is the first time i ever used the words egg shaped robot
5 years and where is this damn device?
where i can buy this thing
they dont sell it anymore right ? I want to buy one...
Unfortunately, these weren't marketed well in the US. Good luck finding one anymore. :(
awesome.. I'll buy one of this
awesome speaker
what's the price
They were discontinued soon after release because they never took off the way that was predicted
"No cure for cancer yet, but we've got this!..."
Ohhhhh Sony. Never a disappointment
@DeathAngelHRA its called creativity. they always do prototypes like these as R&D experiments, tho some come out of the market as weird things like these.
Its awesome engineering, thats what.
Its so cool!
Does this thing actually have a purpose?
so you have to program it?
You can't really put teleporters in the same line as flying cars and jet packs, which we do have these days.
So.. if I play dubstep, does it just blow up?
is it prototype or is available in the market?????
which song was playing in the end?
song name "Music's a Language"
"Music's A Language" by Mr. Ray.
will it blend?
