Get the most out of your California Car Duster with this short, helpful and funny take on the Do's and Don'ts of caring for your California Car Duster. Our catch phrase has always been "the dirtier it gets, the better it works." Usually the California Car Duster just needs to be shaken frequently or suctioned with a vacuum to optimize its performance.

GREATEST how-to video EVER! I laughed at each one (loudly)! Thanks for the info as well as the levity....
Glad you enjoyed it!
The humor is spot on
Thank you for enjoying the video!
Keep your old one as long as you can. I recently purchased a new one and it is really cheap. Has about half the material so it does not dust as well. Compare the weight and you will feel the difference.
Well the one you had has accumulated a lot of dirt and grime adding to volume and weight.
@@naughtysauce4323 relaaaaax dust isn't heavy.
Lol
Love that Woody !
I want the guy in the video to come daily to dust my car! I'll provide the California Duster.
haha. Thank you. But there might be a small daily service fee for that to happen :)
How come?
@@CaliforniaCarCoverCo Whaaaaaat? LOL
It never needs washing.
Exactly. Same as with my underwear! Seriously, though, they do not need to be washed ever. Just shake them out . . . same as my underwear!
How do you prepare a new duster for first time use. I remember a long time ago reading the instructions and it said something like spread out news paper on your hood, take duster out of protective cover, shake it, lay duster on news print and let it air out.
Thank you for the inquiry. The dusters are hopefully ready to use right out of the bag now. If you notice some streaking when you use a new car duster, then you can wrap the mop in newspaper for a few days to draw out some of the excess wax.
I inherited my California car duster from my mother. It’s about 40 (.) years old and very dirty. The last time I used it, it just smeared the dust around and didn’t pick it up. Can I wash it?
If it is that old it could be time for a new duster. There isn't an ideal way to rejuvenate older dusters as the wax is baked into them at production. If you wash the car duster you do risk removing any remaining wax in the mop.
What "do" you do when your duster needs to be cleaned???? No Video's have shown what to do???
Please advise.
Thank you

megasam _ i found this on a diff site:
If you do feel the need to wash your California Car Duster, here are the steps:
1. Wash the duster by hand, leaving the mop on the handle.
2. Clean the duster in cool water mixed with a small amount of a mild detergent (i.e. Woolite)
3. Rinse clean with fresh, cool water.
4. Let the duster air dry (this may take a couple of days)
Pretty much what I would’ve done if I hadn’t found anything online
@@jtm12180 Thamk you so much for the advice. I appreciate your comments and will do just that, I really didn't want to go out and purchase another new one, the one I have wasn't even 2yrs. old yet even though I own 4 vehicles I just knew someone had a solution. Thanks again

Never needs to be washed
You never wash the duster.
Hi, will it hurt my ceramic coating
Thank you for the inquiry. No it will not. Use the California Car Duster with the same care as you use microfiber towels to wash and dry your coated vehicle. I use it frequently on my vehicle that was ceramic coated last year.
A lot of “no $***” in this video...
Knowing how to clean it would be helpful
Burghman lol
You don't. You just shake it free of loose dust and particles after each use. I've had the same one for a good 20 years and it still works great.
I've had the same California Duster for 14 years. I just shake it out. I just got a second one for the road for my '62 Fairlane.
Do you have to let it sit out of the case for 48 hours before first use? Thanks ☺
We suggest that you use the car duster out of the bag when the vehicle and the car duster are both cool. If you see any wax streaks, then it is best to wrap the duster mop in some newspaper and let it sit for 1-2 days. This will help remove any extra wax trapped in the cotton fibers. If you do not see any streaks, you can start using it right away. After a few uses, the "break-in" period, the duster is ready for regular use.
I guess I’ve been doing it all wrong. I’ve been doing almost 100% of the “do not”’s. SMH.
👍Nice video!
Thanks! 👍
Will this hurt vinyl wrap
Thank you for the inquiry. It will not. Just use light pressure to remove light daily dust. Use the same care with the car duster as you do with microfiber detailing towels.
The video didn't say how to wash the duster if needed, but it was fairly comical nonetheless. 18 people have no sense of humor.
You don’t wash it if you read the instructions you would know😡
Dry dusting your car won't leave scratch marks? Hmm. I'd like to see a real world test this.
It actually does not scratch IF you use it correctly, if you move it around on the paint like the maniac on the video it will scratch the paint like mad . The strings barely have to touch the paint and the dust will be removed safely. I have a Black Car and works wonders.
I agree with E G... when using the duster, hold it above your car so only the very bottom of the brush just barely touch the surface, then lightly wipe in one direction (from the windshield to the front of the hood as example). This should give really nice results.
I have a couple black cars as well and have good luck with mine.
Using it as demonstrated in the video will destroy a pristine paint job. Scratches and swirls up the ying yang if ya know what I'm sayin.
Do NOT use it as the guy in the video did!
applejacks971 do you have you wash it when it eats super dirty? can you even wash it?
There is a difference between a dusty car and a dirty car.
@@misrble Never wash the California car duster as you will wash away the treated portion which is very important to pick up the dirt and dust only blow them off with air pressure or shake vigorously
What can you do to rejuvenate an old duster? Can you spray on End Dust or some other household wax cleaner? Mine is not cleaning as well as it did a few years ago.
Thank you for the inquiry. There is not a spray on cleaner or wax agent we recommend to rejuvenate a car duster. The Original California Car Dusters have a baked in wax, so it is difficult to replicate with a spray on product. The company does have some care and use tips on their FAQ page. www.calcarduster.com/faq
DON'T: Brush the duster on your car like the guy in this video

A comedy clip
That was a waste of time.
What a joke! A fresh microfiber cloth and spray detailer is the best way to remove dust.
Couldn't find a better vehicle 😑
how about getting a narrator who knows how to speak properly so people can understand wtf he's saying
