  • Another great product that we found at the Long Beach Progressive Motorcycle Show are these awesome LED Motorcycle Lights, by Clearwater lights. They use a fraction of the power of traditional lights and improve visibility by a substantial amount. Looks like I have a new upgrade for the bike to do.

Anything that makes us more visible on the road is something I fully support

I've had Clearwater Erica or Krista on my last 3 R1200GS's. I wouldn't ride without them. Stop almost all of the left turn in front of you folks (6,000+ lumens flashing in their face is much more effective than the horn alone) and on 100% at night they are a must have to see "critters" soon enough to hopefully be able to take appropriate avoidance action. Don't use on 100% or even close at night in oncoming traffic. They will absolutely blind folks. This is truly an instance when you get what you pay for. Exceptional, quality build; easy installation; and state of the art control and integration into your motorcycle. Even have a CANopener (computer controller) to allow easy integration into BMW's CANbus system.

I installed the Darlas on my K1200RS over 5000 miles ago and they are superior to all other lighting options. Worth every penny. These light are no extra stress on my BMW's electrical system as they are very low amperage lights. Easy straight forward install. Everything in kit is very nice quality. I have had zero vehicles pull out in front of me since installation. I have NOT been flashed at night account them being too bright. The dimmer control is simply "genius" Use common sense with these and you'll have no problems.

Don't these lights stress the voltage system on the bike?
It sounds like this presentation is based more on improving one's presence to other drivers vs more lighting for night rides.

$499 for the Darla kit???? Are you dreaming?
Go to Ebay and get something similar that will get the job done for half or even a quarter of the price. Kuryakin's lightbards are $250 and we are talking Kuryakin, not clearwater led lights.

Price is kind of steep. Nice though but too much.
