    These things had a base msrp of $20k a few years ago when they came out. $7,000 is a huge jump in a short time. That’s not inflation that’s greed.

      It's inflation, but if you own a business, you don't have to pay it, you just raise your prices.
      Folks on a hard salary have to pay the price of inflation.

      Ford is just tapping into those dealer markups. Many of these mavericks were selling over MSRP so that told ford they were undervalued

    This Truck is not really cheap anymore was under 20k when it came out and now its 27k probably marked to 35-40k at the dealers what a bummer.

    I love most of the new changes but really don’t like that they got rid of physical controls for climate control. That’s a big stinker for me.

      And the placement of the volume control... they should've put it where it traditionally goes next to the driver and maybe the trailer nob on the other side.

      Every automobile manufacturer is doing it that way now cause it's cheaper to have everything be placed on the screen than it is having separate modules with buttons and knobs on a dashboard.

      It’s more than just inflation. They are selling and Ford is taking advantage of the situation. If people are willing to pay it why not?

      It's not inflation at all. It's also not inflation that a Mustang GT went up by 3k. They just don't have any competition and figure they force the price on people. The Lariat almost feels like a better value than the base truck. It's 10k more but you get a powerful engine and lots of comfort stuff. I'm sure the default sale though, will be an XLT hybrid with awd and that will be about 30-32.

      @@jonathansmith1590 my ex girlfriend’s family owns several dealerships in Texas and I can guarantee you it is not inflation they made their millions squeezing the consumer for every last cent they could get. People purchased the vehicles at high prices so they kept raising them. He would laugh all the way to the bank when customers would blame inflation for his greediness and let him off the hook. In the past 4 years they’ve purchased several multimillion dollar homes including two lake homes. As long his customers are willing to pay he will charge as much as he can including dealer markups for certain vehicles

      The first year there were no dealership involved. You have to buy it directly from Ford.
      So there were no markup.
      But dealerships have to make money too.

    I have a 23 XLT Hybrid that had a window sticker of $28,790 including destination (I had price protection and employee pricing but that is another story). Throw in the same options on a 2025 and it looks to be north of $33,000 for a 2025. I'm happy with the large price increases since 22/23 only because it helps mine maintain resale value.

    I bought mine in October 2021 and it was $20,000 start . I got the XL with the 4K tow package awd ,bedliner ,and a few other options and out the door was around 26,000 so if you played it more and waited.

    I just priced an XL AWD Hybrid with 4K tow package (in that super nice green) for $32K. I think that's fair when you think of its great mileage and good capability (payload, towing). It's a nice little trucklet. Just what I need. For me the Ranger and Tacoma are overkill and at least 8K more.

    I don't understand why manufacturers think all trucks have to have 4drs. If it was available in 2dr it could have like a 6" bed

    Really excited about the hybrid powertrain with all wheel drive. Bummed about the bigger infotainment system and all the un-needed bells and whistles to jack up the price.

    I ordered a 2023 the first week the order bank was opened. Basic XL with the max tow being the only option. It never got built. I presume mine was low priority because the XL just isn't the big profit mover. They wanted me to convert to a 2024. I just said forget it. Now it's unaffordable, and frankly, my 2019 Taurus is having so many issues with the 'infotainment system', I don't want to even bother with screens anymore. My brick radio never broke.

    It's nice that Ford put some color inside the cab, and used a light shade of grey on the cloth seats. By the way, car makers need to stop making cloth seats that look and feel like they're designed to shame you into leather. Some people don't like the feel and smell of dead animal seat covers, or their vinyl versions. That said, this was an excellent report, MotorWeek. Thanks.

      @@frandanco6289 Of course, they have that option, and it's good quality too. But if you prefer cloth, then you get crap, and you have to stay at or near base trim level. I'm saying, make better cloth for those that want it.

    An increase in base prices of 25%+ from the 2022 launch year, ok, the 2.0 I4 turbo HP is down because they are supposedly using the rating for California for all, why not just have an asterisk by California model

    I really wish they would offer the ability to order these little trucks (and all trucks, for that matter) without all the iPad gadgetry and basic analog gauges and controls. If you like all that stuff, that’s great. But simple is best for many of us.

    Looks a hell of a lot better; Still needs fog lights. (What more could I want, hmmmmm. OH I know A 2.7 EcoBoost Version!, Longer Bed/Wheel base and Rear Styling.)

    Hmmm, they took the physical A/C controls out, moved the volume knob further from driver and kept the rotary gear selector! I will say dash does look a bit more upscale.

      @@KeithSchwerin ST is only for show just like Chevy's RS line nowadays. A unibody and or skateboard-platformed Raptor could be a big deal just like the ladder-frame Raptors have been. Tremor's the bottom of the chain, Wildtrak in the middle, and Raptor up top.

      No, but Ford likes to play around with colors every year. A few colors have come and gone already from the Maverick. No promises Eruption Green will stick around.

      That was the point. Now it starts at just below the ranger at $36k for the good one. Why would I buy one of these when a body on frame truck is a tiny bit more? Makes 0 sense.

      They are only selling the cheap ones to fleet and intentionally limiting production. They are selling 90,000 a year but could sell 300k if they wanted too but they think it would cut into F-150 sales. Ford is run by fools.

    Ford had a #1 hit and they ruined the opportunity out of greed. Myself and so many people tried to get one when it launched, but Ford decided to give all production capacity to their $70,000 F-150 instead. Those that did get a Maverick paid upwards of $10,000 over MSRP for it. Now that dealers of all brands are overstocked with inventory, the Maverick isn't such an attractive buy. They keep adding more tech and features that many people don't care about. Just keep it CHEAP and SIMPLE!

    And to think that I pitched the idea behind the Maverick (a pickup based on the Escape platform) to then Ford President of The Americas Mark Fields some 15 years ago. His response: "Interesting idea". SMH

    Great but we're still waiting on a REAL truck with a 6ft bed! A small extended cab would sell as well if not better than the crewcabs. Not sure what kind of people automakers are surveying when they develop these products but it definitely ain't anyone I know, work with, or are kin to

If they produced what consumers wanted we would still have Grand Marquis, LeSabre, Century, New Yorker, Town Car etc. Most people want a car that can make all the bumps disappear. Can't do that with modern cars and their wagon wheels wrapped with rubberband tires.

    I'm set on the Pro-4X.... then I saw AWD hybrid. But then I came across that digital climate control.... no thank you. Been in a subaru where I have to be touching around when I could just press a button or turn a dial. I don't want to be touching around a screen while driving. Back to a Pro-4X

    Have you seen the new pricing for these… They are now as much as my 2016 Tacoma that I bought brand new for 32K. It sucks to think that what was a midsize truck less than 10 years ago is now a compact pickup. These guys are pricing out much of what the average buyer in America can afford nowdays, way to overpriced.

    base price now is 27,000, after they are losing money on electric. Might as well buy Toyota tacoma or Ford Ranger

    I wish they put that 2.5 in more of their cars. I like the bronco and bronco sport but I’m never buying an eco burst. That 2.5 ran forever

    The 2.0 Ecoboost turbo inline four is actually down in horsepower. That's not good for me.

    I don't recommend anybody tow with the CVT.

      Why? The eCVT was upgraded to be more robust, likely to handle the larger towing capacity.

      @@Motorweek it was upgraded because it's failure rate was too high. Marketing dictated the greater tow rating. History suggests it is quite in advisable. But you journalist just say whatever the manufacturer wants you to say

      ​@@kevinbarry71where are you reading about high failure rates in the Ford eCVT? It's not a belt driven CVT but a planetary gear set which have proven quite reliable in most applications.

      @@kevinbarry71 There have been no failures with the eCVT. It's a great transmission. You do realize an eCVT is not a CVT even though the names are similar. They are completely different animals.
