@@LiselleSambury Libraries still have to buy copies but I guess they want guaranteed sales. But I've seen more authors moving to only doing pre-orders with their local indie. I've also seen only indies and B&N no Amazon preorders too.
@MsWOCReader it’s true they do, but yeah I think it’s the wanting the guaranteed sale since the library might not buy a copy? Personally, I’d rather keep the option and make it more inclusive. But yes, I see a lot of authors doing local indie only which does make a lot of sense to me as not only a way to support their indie but it eliminates shipping cost for the author, and if I had one nearby I totally would too. But I also know for some people Amazon is kind of all they have access to. Or indie shipping is limited or pricey. Which is a strength of shipping everything myself because they can order from wherever works best for them. And I encouraged people to support indies.

So they aren’t ideal if you’re looking for tips for getting sales. I would recommend checking out videos by self published authors who do have access to their own sales portals, who are responsible for marketing to get sales, and who I find have more strategies for making sales that they can back up with data.
Sorry if you already explained this and I missed it, but I'm completely lost when it comes to HOW to create this stuff. I found a website that allows you to create custom bookmarks that I would love to use, but what about the stuff you did? Is there a business you used to create all that merch? I guess what I'm asking for is the technicality of it all. I'm in the process of becoming a traditional author (recruiting an agent), so it could be that my publisher might end up creating a pre-order campaign anyway (which would be great). If not, I would love to learn how to create one myself in case one day I might want to use one.
So, I used the cover files that my publisher gave me and I designed everything myself in photoshop and adobe illustrator and some things using cricut and cricut design maker. Which I’m aware is not a skill set that everyone has. I know some people will use things like Canva templates and I also know people who hire someone to design bookmarks and other swag items for them. I hope that clears that up!
the mailing stuff i so real ..... i should've made a zip code one because so many people put in street addresses with no zip code .... 123 main street doesn't help me !!!! (that was my fault though haha)
