Tarja and Floor sang a duet, "over the hills". It's quite nice. And the height difference... Tarja looks like a little doll next to Floor. I grew up with Tarja, haven't listened to Nightwish for years and rediscovered the band with Floor. I absolutely agree. They are both talented and passionate about what they do, they should not be compared. Especially not in a hostile way.

Being the lands Tarja and Floor, with Anette playing the part of the island, it's easier to comprehend that without just one of them there would have been no Nightwish at all... moreover, what unites the island's and lands' people (fans) all toghether is the bridge himself so IMO loving Nightwish is crossing that bridge and appreciate all the 3 lands... Everyone always focuses on Tarja, and the comparison to Floor etc etc. but for me the consistent performer that blows everybody away every single time is Marko. Keeping up with opera singers and hitting notes like those is NOT easy for a guy, even less so one who doesn't have a falsetto
@@Elan_B I love Floor and Marko equally. Some Floor fans are all about Floor. Floor's solo stuff is awesome, but for me she's at her best with Nightwish. I also prefer "How's the Heart" by Nightwish over the acoustic version by Floor and Troy. There's more to enjoy.

even 15 years later this version is still my favorite. I like to think that without Tarja Nightwish would never have been where they are today. She put Nightwish on the map back in late 90's early 00's. i have listen to Nightwish since 1999 i have seen all changes. Tho the new songs are all increadable masterpieces in their own glory i still value the earlie songs that shaped Nightwish most.
That is correct. Without Tarja there would have never been Nightwish. Sure, Tuomas would have done something, but it was Tarja's voice what inspired him to do bigger songs. They supposed to be acoustic mood band. Then again, I believe that Tarja also inspired him to write all those incredible songs like "Ghost Love Score" and "Ever Dream", even "Nemo" and "Bye Bye Beautiful" (+many many more).

You should react to Nightwish song Everdream, featuring Tarja & Marko, either in Lowlands or in The End of an Era Concert and then you could understand why most of the Nightwish fans love and prefer Tarja, regardless Annette or Floor. And if you didn't know in The End of An Era Concert, Tarja had been with fever and a cold. And the result is that it wasn't noticed by the people who were there in her interpretation of each song.
I love Tarja's voice! Nightwish has 9 studio albums, 5 with Tarja (first vocalist and co-founder of the band), 2 with Anette and 2 with Floor, the current singer. Most of the most beloved songs were originally recorded with Tarja. It would be nice if you checked the original versions. As a first suggestion, a reaction to "Slaying the Dreamer" or "The Siren", both recorded on the DVD "End of an Era", would be good. The differences between Tarja's belting and lyrical singing give a very beautiful color to these songs. Thank you!
This is so bittersweet for me to watch. This song is what introduced me to nightwish in 05. Then to know that after this performance. Is when the band gave her the "open letter".

@@BrindleChase i beg to differ...Tarja decided on a solo career in 2003 (not to join another band, despite numerous great offers)..she only agreed to remain for a bit longer , on the basis of her terms, to which they all agreed initially but then Marco bulked at shorter tours and Tuomas resented Marcelo's role in the band's affair, as though Tarja was no longer a vital part thereof..at any rate, the trashy letter was meant to drive a wedge between Tarja and the fans as well as paint her husband as a corruptive influence to the interests of the band...maturity and good-natured respect would have made the split far less of a humdinger for Tuomas..as she was not going to put up a struggle..and, as always, maintained her discretion
You must do your reaction of Everdream but sang by Tarja in concerts like Lowlands 2005 or The End of an Era DVD is pure feeling and better than Floor. The chemistry and the interaction not only with band members but with the audience from Tarja is that makes her so unique.
For me, this is still the best version of the phantom and one of the most incredible songs ever. I love watching the reaction of those listening to it for the first time. Tarja does and amazing version of the phantom in her solo Act 1 concert. In a number of ways it betters this version BUT it misses Marko’s performance giving this Nightwish version the edge and leaving it at the top.

So, usually, she gets left out. so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does while with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish (many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here) ---------- if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones: (NOT ranked, just listed) 1. End of an Era (her last concert with nightwish, hard to find good quality and the entire concert, as it gets taken down) 2. Well said SuziQ! I've said it many times before, but it bears repeating, all three singers are perfect. No amount of arguing, bickering and trolling can diminish them. They are in our hearts forever as are Marko and Troy. No band deserves five perfect singers more than Nightwish.
On a good day she was as good live as in studio recordings. There is a youtube video of an excellent performance of her. Let's not be unfair, after all she was Tuomas's pick for Nightwish.

People are the sum of their experiences, and the experiences the band went through are what made them who they are now. So all three singers were/are perfect at creating the Nightwish we know and love.
Tarja and Marko Ava Maria performed years after she was fired from Nightwish it's so emotional. They do a Christmas tour with Floor, Tony from Sonata Arctica, Elize from Amaranthe and other singers and musicians every year.

I wasn't a fan of Nightwish during the Tarja Era. The talent was obvious, but Tarja prevented me from liking the band... Also, it's weird to see this video: Marco knows Tarja has been fired, but she doesn't know yet.... I usually skip this reaction from other reactors.

You are entirely correct. I love all of the singers and what they each brought to Nightwish during their respective times with the band. Some songs are just better with certain singers, but in no way does that retract from the others. They are all amazing.
They were on fire here! And without Tarja, even if it’s many years ago, it’s not the same band. This is the originalband and the best version of the band. 🙏❤
Tarja and Floor are both absolutely amazing and I adore them both. It should never be a competition as to who is better as that's unfair to both wonderful ladies. Both are goddesses. Tarja has had a great solo career after Nightwish and her latest album 'In the Raw' is fantastic. You guys should react to some of her solo stuff. ☺
Marko is a great singer that is underated by many. In Nightwish Marko songs balads as "While Your Lips Are Still Red", Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" and "The Islander. Marko's solo work is awesome. He is part of the "The Northern Kings" with Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni, ex-Dreamtale), Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) e Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (Charon). He sings a metal version of "In The Air Tonight" (Phil Collins) and "Take On Me" (A-HA). You'll even find Marko singing "Ave Maria" in a Christmas special.
THANK YOU for stating to not compare the two, each has their own sound, style, both use their instrument (vocals) uniquely to THEIR strengths. Tarja (pronounced tar-yaw) had been with Nightwish since the start, she made the band what it is today. After she departed they had HUGE shoes to fill. Why they went with Anette Olzon I have no idea, I'm not dissing her, I love her, but she was more of a pop-metal singer and could not do what Tarja did/does. She had her own qualities and sound to which she is using today. She took a ton of flack and that was not fair, I'd love to see ANYONE come in and replace Tarja especially when you know you cannot. It's not fair she take all that negativity.
This was her last show with the band, the DVD is titled 'End of an Era' i believe. PS: Tarja is pronounced "Tar-ya" just like Floor Jansen (Jansen = Yan-sen) 😊😊
just incredible that we are still raving about this 1909 novel over 100 years later… turned into a film, musical theatre and the popular song some 77 years later. Incredible that Nightwish was able to pull this off and Marco and Tarja perform this so well to fit into the symphonic metal landscape
Nightwish is an awesome band. Few bands could claim both Tarja and Floor as lead vocalists in their history. Both ladies are among the best vocalists working today.. Tarja has had a great solo career and Floor is a Queen.
I’m not sure if that chemistry is real at this point. Everyone knows this is her last show but her. Unanimous decision, she must go. The show must go on.
That would obviously have some impact, but it's not like they necessarily disliked her as a person. Tarja even specifically mentioned recently that she always had a good relationship with Marko.
Tuomas was jealous of Marcelo and angry at Tarja for leaving, considering her irreplaceable...Marco was mad because she was costing him money, refusing to go on long tours and the rest would do anything to keep their job...

She is a true opera singer. I love Floor but I am not sure she can pull this song off. Tarja left because they could not stand each other with the band, At the end they never talked before and after the show. It was a toxic atmosphere.
Actually that is incorrect. If you listen to how the band say her name, or Floor says her name, it is most definitely not with a hard J. It's more like Tar-e-ya. Plus i hear them sort of rolling the R when saying her name.
What Jonas meant was that if you know how to pronounce Finnish alphabet you know how to pronounce Tarja. As J is always pronounced as Y and your Rs are always rolled. Unfortunately it is not the same in English if you do not know the language well.
Oh yeah they were really acting because after this very concert they kicked her from the band, right after it. It was decided already and they all knew, just she didnt.
It seems that you do not know how to differentiate ranges of voices, nor that this is a metal version ... Sarah Brightman would be crushed by the intensity of the sound, that is why this version is very special, because it demands the most from the vocalist on duty and only The voice ranges such as tarja can stand out above the others, this can be considered one of the best versions because of: its atmosphere, the drama and power of the voices and the explosive ending, please, do not compare the versions, they are different .
always love the instant tears from the Finnish goth girls! Marco said in an interview, after Tarja left, they thought about calling Floor. After Forever was going good at the time, and they didn't think she would be interested.

While Tarja was fired more or less with her Manager (husband) afterwards.

Tarja wasn't their previous singer, but the 1st. After her was Anette, and then Floor. PS. Tuomas is said like 'TOUR-muss' (without an audible R obviously) - but if it feels difficult, you can say Thomas just in English: his name is just a Finnish version of it.
Tarja is where the operatic sound came from for Nightwish. Her version of Ghost Love Score is different from Floor's and epic AF. My favorite Tarja song was Beauty Of the Beast, and it's a song that most of the members of the band helped write various parts of. Nightwish has had three amazing singers who have each gotten to show off their best work with the band. Anette's version of Dark Passion Play is no less emotional than Floor's, and Meadows of Heaven is a song that I doubt Floor will cover. Many of the most popular songs from the Wacken show were originally sung by either Tarja or Anette first, but Floor has made them her own. The Anette era is when I found Nightwish and she will always be a favorite, those two albums are for me Nightwish's best.
So sad fact: This being Tarja's last performance with nightwish.....she did not know it during the concert but every other band member knew she was being fired. If you look at the drummer during that first bit, he looks like he is giving the impression of " damn, heart breaking to hear her sing beautifully while knowing it is her last"
Tarja is a bonafide opera singer. She did opera singing gigs while she was in Nightwish. I guess she is still active in that scene along with her solo career. This was a really tough act to follow and Floor does fit the bill very nicely. But there was a third leading lady for this group... Annette Olson. You still have not heard her sing for Nightwish. All three women are sopranos, but with a very different skill set...

so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does while with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish

Well said SuziQ! I've said it many times before, but it bears repeating, all three singers are perfect. No amount of arguing, bickering and trolling can diminish them. They are in our hearts forever as are Marko and Troy. No band deserves five perfect singers more than Nightwish.
I think its no crime to say that Anette was far from perfect live. She was good on the albums in studio, but live was not her thing.
On a good day she was as good live as in studio recordings. There is a youtube video of an excellent performance of her. Let's not be unfair, after all she was Tuomas's pick for Nightwish.

People are the sum of their experiences, and the experiences the band went through are what made them who they are now. So all three singers were/are perfect at creating the Nightwish we know and love.
Tarja and Marko Ava Maria performed years after she was fired from Nightwish it's so emotional. They do a Christmas tour with Floor, Tony from Sonata Arctica, Elize from Amaranthe and other singers and musicians every year.
Tarja has a forgiving heart and enormous charisma

You are entirely correct. I love all of the singers and what they each brought to Nightwish during their respective times with the band. Some songs are just better with certain singers, but in no way does that retract from the others. They are all amazing.

Tarja and Floor are both absolutely amazing and I adore them both. It should never be a competition as to who is better as that's unfair to both wonderful ladies. Both are goddesses. Tarja has had a great solo career after Nightwish and her latest album 'In the Raw' is fantastic. You guys should react to some of her solo stuff. ☺

Marko is a great singer that is underated by many. In Nightwish Marko songs balads as "While Your Lips Are Still Red", Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" and "The Islander. Marko's solo work is awesome. He is part of the "The Northern Kings" with Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni, ex-Dreamtale), Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) e Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (Charon). He sings a metal version of "In The Air Tonight" (Phil Collins) and "Take On Me" (A-HA). You'll even find Marko singing "Ave Maria" in a Christmas special.

THANK YOU for stating to not compare the two, each has their own sound, style, both use their instrument (vocals) uniquely to THEIR strengths. Tarja (pronounced tar-yaw) had been with Nightwish since the start, she made the band what it is today. After she departed they had HUGE shoes to fill. Why they went with Anette Olzon I have no idea, I'm not dissing her, I love her, but she was more of a pop-metal singer and could not do what Tarja did/does. She had her own qualities and sound to which she is using today. She took a ton of flack and that was not fair, I'd love to see ANYONE come in and replace Tarja especially when you know you cannot. It's not fair she take all that negativity.
This was her last show with the band, the DVD is titled 'End of an Era' i believe.
PS: Tarja is pronounced "Tar-ya" just like Floor Jansen (Jansen = Yan-sen) 😊😊

just incredible that we are still raving about this 1909 novel over 100 years later… turned into a film, musical theatre and the popular song some 77 years later. Incredible that Nightwish was able to pull this off and Marco and Tarja perform this so well to fit into the symphonic metal landscape
Nightwish is an awesome band. Few bands could claim both Tarja and Floor as lead vocalists in their history. Both ladies are among the best vocalists working today.. Tarja has had a great solo career and Floor is a Queen.
I’m not sure if that chemistry is real at this point. Everyone knows this is her last show but her. Unanimous decision, she must go. The show must go on.
That would obviously have some impact, but it's not like they necessarily disliked her as a person. Tarja even specifically mentioned recently that she always had a good relationship with Marko.
Tuomas was jealous of Marcelo and angry at Tarja for leaving, considering her irreplaceable...Marco was mad because she was costing him money, refusing to go on long tours and the rest would do anything to keep their job...

She is a true opera singer. I love Floor but I am not sure she can pull this song off. Tarja left because they could not stand each other with the band, At the end they never talked before and after the show. It was a toxic atmosphere.

Actually that is incorrect. If you listen to how the band say her name, or Floor says her name, it is most definitely not with a hard J.
It's more like Tar-e-ya. Plus i hear them sort of rolling the R when saying her name.
What Jonas meant was that if you know how to pronounce Finnish alphabet you know how to pronounce Tarja. As J is always pronounced as Y and your Rs are always rolled. Unfortunately it is not the same in English if you do not know the language well.

It seems that you do not know how to differentiate ranges of voices, nor that this is a metal version ... Sarah Brightman would be crushed by the intensity of the sound, that is why this version is very special, because it demands the most from the vocalist on duty and only The voice ranges such as tarja can stand out above the others, this can be considered one of the best versions because of: its atmosphere, the drama and power of the voices and the explosive ending, please, do not compare the versions, they are different .

PS. Tuomas is said like 'TOUR-muss' (without an audible R obviously) - but if it feels difficult, you can say Thomas just in English: his name is just a Finnish version of it.
Tarja is where the operatic sound came from for Nightwish. Her version of Ghost Love Score is different from Floor's and epic AF. My favorite Tarja song was Beauty Of the Beast, and it's a song that most of the members of the band helped write various parts of. Nightwish has had three amazing singers who have each gotten to show off their best work with the band. Anette's version of Dark Passion Play is no less emotional than Floor's, and Meadows of Heaven is a song that I doubt Floor will cover. Many of the most popular songs from the Wacken show were originally sung by either Tarja or Anette first, but Floor has made them her own. The Anette era is when I found Nightwish and she will always be a favorite, those two albums are for me Nightwish's best.

Tarja is a bonafide opera singer. She did opera singing gigs while she was in Nightwish. I guess she is still active in that scene along with her solo career. This was a really tough act to follow and Floor does fit the bill very nicely. But there was a third leading lady for this group... Annette Olson. You still have not heard her sing for Nightwish. All three women are sopranos, but with a very different skill set...
