    Just a heads up, generelly you shouldn't house red hagen (Geosesarma hagen) and the purple ones (Geosesarma dennerle) together (Different claw coloration). Although they're the same specie, the subspecie is different and they can fight eachother. Nice build otherwise tho & interesting idea growing the anubias terrestial.

      Yes thanks,...They were shipped to me like that, but after some research I did learn that they should be separate, and do have them seperated now. That being said I really saw no aggression whatsoever even with the babies that were born in the tank they all seem to get along well, but to be safe I do keep them seperate now.

    Hello! I wonder if you could give me some input.
    Ive built my First attempt for a Paludarium literally following your video one to one. Some of the products aren't the same because of difference in location, but id say it is quite close besides the fact i dont have so many plants. Sadly within a week all of my crabs died and due to lack of experience I am baffled and really insecure about trying again at the costs of their lifes. What could be the immediate case? the temperature on the Paludarium is 23C, every piece Ive put there was left on water and washed before throughout, including the plants...
    I feel like the moss dried up quickly and needs to be sprayed many times a day. Any hint on how keeping up the humidity in the tank? and any idea of what would be a possibility for 100% mortality rate? 😕
    Thank you in advance for any insight🙏

    • @lb8384
      @lb8384 2 года назад +1

      If you have a gaze top, just cover it with some sort of plastic sheet to keep the humidity high.
      A waterfall/water pump as well as a rain system will help you to keep it humid all the time.
      Good luck

    • @PetsNPonds
      @PetsNPonds  2 года назад +1

      Yes like LB said I have some plastic over top of the screen top covering about 75% to help keep it humid. I don't undestand why your Crabs didnt make it, I find them very hardy. Did the soil you used have any fertilizers or pesticides in it?

    • @Taty_a_trovejante
      @Taty_a_trovejante 2 года назад

      @@PetsNPonds I dont think the soil had any fertilizers because I bought coconut fiber and clay balls (to replace the hydro balls) for Terrariums, I used also aquarium grave and the same frog moss used on the video. I wonder about the mesh, though? Because since we couldnt find any product similar here we got a mesh that is intended for grass. Unfortunately I am traveling right now and cannot check the package but once home, I will go through the specifics and see if theres any villain listed on the product.
      I have suspicion over the quality of the water Ive placed on he Paludarium as I am only starting understanding how it works. So it may have been played a part because after we tested the water we could see that the PH and hardness where very high. We proceeded to make a water change after that and we have also added to the water some crustacean specific product which claims to get rid of chlorine.
      One thing I did diferent from the video which was add white dwarf isopods. I have picked the Isopods out with some of their substrate and added to the soon to be Paludarium in, on the next morning the crabs started dying 🤔 but I am really speculating here.
      Anyway, we went to a local shop that specialises in crabs and shrimps. The man there was very helpful and told us that the crabs likely died because we ordered them online from "a bad shop", where they are taken from the wild... Dropped on a small tank together with hundreds of other crabs, than shipped over with heating pads, etc. But for all five crabs we've bought to die? Thats a lot. I'd really like to make sure nothing is wrong with my setting before risking more animals, but I dont really know what to watch out for to beggin with.

    WHERE do you buy vampire crabs?! I don't know if you (probably) have a connection or something but I'm not about to pay $100 on crabs... I don't see any available near me either. I just wanted 2 or 3 but the websites I'm seeing make you MUST purchase 3 of either gender so I can't really have 1 male, 2 females. So I was considering 3 and 3 but that came out to $100. Is this a normal range? If not, what should I expect to pay per crab? I'm also trying to make a self-sustaining ecosystem with shrimp mainly but I also love colorful crabs. They're so adorable to me and I'd love for them to stay small and be able to keep the shrimp population in check.
