Have you thought of adding shrimp to the water, to keep the rocks clean and handle other waste? Could also act as a good source for the crabs with quick reflexes. Beautiful tank, glad they’re thriving!
So I first had two vampire crabs. They had babies. And all those babies grew up. Now checking in later I see that those babies also had babies😅 So I probably have to upgrade my tank or sell some vampire crabs hahaha
I recently bought some Vampire Crabs. Now I can’t even sleep because I keep hearing clicking followed by patting on the ground. All the sounds coming from the paludarium.
Great video, thanks! I'm planning to start having crabs again - I have plenty of experience with mangrove crabs (pseudosesarma bidens), but my next project will be vampire crabs as well. Are the adults preying on the juveniles?
Very cool! What do you have to do to clean this setup? I'm considering building something similar, but I'm a newbie. Also, can you keep anything else with the crabs in there?
There is no light under the substrate so no algae grows. I do get some algae in the open water part but I put in some Nerite snails and they cleaned it all up
Thanks,..It is usually lower or barely touching, my next Crab build will have mist for sure I have been using it for frogs and can see how it would benefit a build like this
Hello do you keep the babies whith the adults if so how do you know when to seperate the adults from babies? Also if you dont mind where did you get these from?
There is a drainage layer, under the land portion and it is separated by a mesh layer. I have a "Crabitat" build video on my channel that shows you step by step how I built this tank
Hey, I have red devil crabs and I found some white dots on a piece of driftwood that look kinda like eggs. So is it possible for crabs to lay their eggs, or do they always carry them till they hatch?
My fiddler crabs wiped out every effort I made to put dwarf sag. Into their tank... they leave anubias and Java fern alone and moss balls they surprisingly don't actually eat, they just clean it off... I expected the moss balls to get wrecked by them but nope
My vampires don't touch the Anubias I put in unless its under water, not sure why that is but I find it interesting how the wreck some plants and leave others
Are vampire crabs anything like the Red Clawed Crab? I have a Red Clawed Crab with like 20% land and 80 water. Can a canopied crab survive in it ? Also will it fight with my Red Clawed Crab?
They are are very different, I find Vampire Crabs much less destructive in a paladariun type set up, Red Claws are much more aggresive so I am sure they would kill of Vampires if kept together
Those little babies are so cute!!! Love how they pick at everything 😂 such little busy bodies
They really are fun,...getting pretty big now
Wow! Going to get some soon!!!!! Congrats for successfully breeding these...great video! keep rockin Liked and subscribed!
Thank-you, they are pretty awesome little guys
Omg!!! They must be happy, they had babies!!!! How cute!!!
They are pretty awesome little guys
Awesome setup! I just start 7 of them last week in a 150 gallon palludarium!
Thanks for the update!
Good luck! Thanks for watching,..more updates will come for sure
@@PetsNPonds How many did you start with to have babies? Do you know the male/female ratio that you started with? Thanks
@@robertbaxter6736 I believe I had 10 to start not exactly sure how many females but only a couple probably 2-3
@@CarlOutside Thank you! Good luck!
@@robertbaxter6736 sorry that was me replying I just mistakenly answered from my other channel Carl Outside

I haven't, but thats a great idea, thanks!

Are the adults preying on the juveniles?
Thank-you...I am sure they will, but I am not too sure that they get too many of them, I have lots of hiding places
new sub bcz of your crab video please do more about crab
Thanks for subbing! Will do more updates for sure
Very cool! What do you have to do to clean this setup? I'm considering building something similar, but I'm a newbie. Also, can you keep anything else with the crabs in there?
I wipe down the glass once in awhile, clean the filter and do partial water changes, not much else needs to be done
I like the underground water system, but how do you keep algae from building up down there?
There is no light under the substrate so no algae grows. I do get some algae in the open water part but I put in some Nerite snails and they cleaned it all up
The water level is not supposed to be higher than your drainage layer.
A misting system would keep that moss on the rocks alive.

Hello do you keep the babies whith the adults if so how do you know when to seperate the adults from babies? Also if you dont mind where did you get these from?
I would separate them for sure. I own a tropical fish store so I was able to order them in through my suppliers
@@PetsNPonds cool thx for the reply mate
Hello, I have a question. What do I do if i’m on vacation? Do I put more food in the tank?
Yes maybe a bit of extra food but not too much, they can forage around the tank for awhile no problem
How much lighting should they have ? Also, do I have to cover the lip or cover the lip? I am using a reptile lip ?
I do have a cover on it with some ventilation to help keep some of the moisture in
Hello! How do you keep the water from seeping into the land area? Thanks!
There is a drainage layer, under the land portion and it is separated by a mesh layer. I have a "Crabitat" build video on my channel that shows you step by step how I built this tank
Great video, what are your water parameters?
Sorry for the slow reply. I dont have the exact parameters at the moment but the water is quite hard and alkaline
Hey can i ask what those white stuff are at 4:19? much thanks
Its just some fish flakes that have turned to mush, springtails eat it up when it gets to this stage
@@PetsNPonds i see, is that the only food you feed them? aee there anything else they can nom on?
@@jasonjones5586 they’ll eat moss, decaying plant matter, small insects (mealworms, crickets etc.) or really anything lol

As far as I know they all carry the eggs with them
That’s awesome Carl, congrats on the babies!!
Thanks 👍

Yes its a 10 gallon aquarium
Are they for sale? Purple vampire crabs sold out everywhere nowadays...
I have some at my shop for sale but we do not ship them, thanks for watching
@@PetsNPonds Thanks for letting me know. I am from Toronto. Maybe I will visit your store some weekend.
how can you breed them
If you provide the right conditions like this, they just start on their own
Wow
Thanks
😍😍😍
Where can I order some ???
Sorry we cannot ship the Crabs
Crabs are coool
