- The McKenzie Milton knee injury this past year was the most devastating injury I've seen in college football. The reason lies in the blood vessel and nerve damage that occurred with this knee dislocation.
In this video I'll help you understand the nerve damage that can occur with these types of injuries and how doctors manage them.
Also go check out the video talking about one of the WORST NBA injuries of all time, Shaun Livingston's knee injury here:

Today is September 5th, 2021 and I can't believe I'm sitting here watching McKenzie Milton play football. He just came in at quarterback for FSU against Notre Dame and drove down the field for 2 scores. Including one play where he tucked the ball and actually ran it. They lost the game but that doesn't even seem to matter much. Incredible comeback.
Milton is a WARRIOR!! I’m a ND fan and I found myself rooting for him to succeed.
As a UCF fan I was crying tears of joy
I would imagine that was the worst moment of his life and he is back doing that same activity. Beyond the tremendous challenge of many surgeries and rehabilitation he still had to overcome the psychological trauma.
He did, he overcame it all.
He has a girls name
an L is an L buddy
He explains it so well it makes my knee hurt😂
On me
Right lol I'm happy Milton is okay now he's about to be with Florida State
Big facts 👍🏾😂 he did his hob to a tee
Please do Ryan Shaziers injury so many of us want to see it!
Working on it haha. When more acute injuries occur those take priority . I work on ones like shazier for when times are quieter. But don't worry, it's high on my list!
Brian Sutterer MD good to know thanks! Keep up the great work with your videos I love to watch them!
Thank you so much for this videos
I study ingeneering but i love medical studies
Please continue
*Oh shiitt 🔥🔥 Dr. Phil vs Dr. Brian*
Ok Walter.
Do zach miller’s injury. I’m very interested in it. You should look at it because it’s very bad.
Was just gonna comment this
You stole my comment too
I read even a year later he still can't run
@@frankdux3605 Hes returning to the field soon
He has done it since you posted this.
Reminds me of Jaylon Smith’s injury. He had nerve damage and drop foot. Now he seems to recover close to if not 100%. He balled out and had a heck of a season with the Cowboys.
Yea no..he sucks
And tonight, this guy came back and played the game of football again on an amazing level…
I just want to thank you Brian. I really learned a lot from your videos, please continue making this kind of educational vlogs.
As a medical student and also a big sports fan, i love your channel so much its entertaining and at the same time i'm learning. I hope you continue doing what you do.
Thank you so much I’ve been hoping for this video for a while, great job as always!!
When I broke my tibia and fibula, I had some weird nerve problems in my toe which prevented me from moving my big toe up at all. This was very strange and it was a more frustrating process. One day it just kinda woke up and I could move it around normally again.
so it sounds like you damaged a nerve but the nerve recovered. Im of course not a doctor but I understand basic things like that.
Great content as allows Doctor! You break these complex structures down to something we can sorta understand. But we understand no nerve no ballin
I'm currently going through this injury myself.
You did a great job explaining this to anyone unfamiliar with these types of injuries.
Keep up the good work.
ikk ima year late but i hope everything went alright and ur all good!
Doubt you had this exact injury. Drama queen
@@fredandmolly it’s not that hard to believe. I recently dislocated my knee, tore 3 ligaments, and severed the nerve he talked about m. Don’t wanna say it’s common, but it’s definitely not rare
Please keep up your channel as I highly enjoy it and soon I think you’ll have a higher subscriber count as your videos are great quality
Love these videos, keep doing it!
Awesome vid! One on Marshon Lattimore would be interesting
The views and likes will come. I'm taking anatomy this year to understand sports injuries! I enjoy hearing from you on this channel. Please continue to do you!
As someone with Multiple Sclerosis and significant foot drop whenever I try to walk this explains it better than and doc I’ve been to. Unfortunately mostly in a wheelchair now. Thank you.
I don't why you don't have 1 million subs you deserve something like that
Found your channel recently. Awesome vids!
And 2 years later this man is playing again incredible
Notre Dame wins !
Do Kevin Ware’s injury! Would really like to see you explain how his injury happened and what they did to fix it. Keep up the good work!
Great video!
Love ur vids man
Great video very informative. Happy to hear that he recently just got cleared to play🖤💛🖤💛
And last night he played only he knows how
I thought about this injury when I found your channel recently :)
Man, that footage was rough. Feel so bad for the young man, who’s life might not be the same after an injury like that. Dunno how they reduce these happening, unless American Football makes drastic changes to how they protect their players. Great vid as always Doc
These videos are incredible, great channel
Andrew Bogut, Marcus Lattimore, Nick Chubb just to name a few great work!
Boguts arm man...😥
good vid brodie💯
With all this knowledge its amazing how we still cant heal he these
Well you have to think. We know what happened on the injuries and etc but it takes a whole lot to even figure out how to fix it or make them better or if its even fixable too. It's harder to figure that out than to see what happened to them
You should do henry josey injury from a few years ago to keep the theme of awful college injuries. Mcl ACl meniscus and patellar tendon all torn.
Boy I’ve never been this early, much love brother!
Could you cover Andre Roberson’s ruptured patellar tendon and/or his setbacks please?
I’m a huge thunder fan, as you can see, and I’m just worried about the injury and it’s consequences.
I know it's kind of strange, but can you go over testicular torsion? I know it's not exactly an athletic injury, but during our soccer game my friend was hit in the groin and had to be rushed to the hospital for torsion. I know some stuff about it, but it would be cool to hear you discuss it. Then again the point of your channel is to discuss famous, athletic injuries but who knows.
There have been cases of a ruptured testicle (Yadier Molina & Asante Samuel) but testicular torsion is different due to irregular twisting I believe. Its actually pretty rare when your groin area suffers a trauma (unlike a rupture) so your friend’s injury is a bit of a freak accident
@@mason.11 That's what I assumed because I know that torsion can occur randomly in your sleep or something. But thank you for the information, kind of clears it up.
sean islander that’s so crazy i seen your comment lol my friend just had testicular torsion and they had to remove his testicle. the crazy thing is that he doesn’t even remember when or how it happened but the pain just got progressively worse.
Imagine nut pain x 11!
He is back
this is such a genius channel
I have wondered for quite some time about the Ryan Shazier injury
Underated channel
These videos make me weak. Like literally I feel weak and nasty. But great videos. Keep it up
I have a foot drop and have to wear a brace. I basically can’t run n with the brace I’m not running fast no more. Without the brace I’m at risk to falling especially on uneven ground. I hate having a foot drop.
As a UCF student, this video made me cry, but I appreciate the information.
this channel has huge potential you should start talking about soccer aswell you will get a much wider audience if you include european soccer. keep it up.
i love this channel
PLEASE do a video on Ryan Shazier’s injury!
I was at that game where McKenzie Milton got hurt. The stadium was dead silent for 10 minutes except for the occasional chanting from the fans. I didn't see him go down as I was sitting in one of the end zones and didn't know what happened at first, but when I saw all the UCF players over where he was, I knew something was very wrong.
Great video! Thanks for fulfilling my request. Go knights!
Can you do professional skateboarder mike mos injury to the knee or professional skateboarder Sean Maltos ankle injury
Do Greg Oden's Kneecap injury, and while we're talking about blazers that were injured, can you talk about Brandon Roy's disease in his knees that caused bone to bone rubbing?
I really love how you explain all the specific injuries. I have dislocated both of my shoulders a couple of times and I would like to see how you explain it. Kevin Love for example.
Oh man. I saw this while I was eating lunch on the day it happened. I don’t remember what expletive I spit out, but it got the attention of the rest of the restaurant.
I remember watching the injury live it was insane
The human body is insane. We are machines. Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like that injury must have been super painful. I've had damage. It's a kind of pain you can't describe.
Hey look at Derrick Jones Jr injury
Love your vids! How do u have time to create and edit your vids when youre a doc? ;)
Record in batches . Each vid takes anywhere from 2-8 hours recording and editing
I had meniscus surgery and from the surgery it resulted in nerve damage. I then underwent two nerve surgeries to repair the nerves. A total of 5 nerves were then repaired.
Nice video! Could you do one with soccer player injuries such as the one neymar just suffered?
U should do a video on jaylon Smith’s injury and recovery process
Do shazier and Zach miller
I feel tingling in my knee and I don’t wanna move it now!!
Do the Kevin ware injury
I would really like to see you do the Jaylen Smith injury just so we know the severity of his injury and how he was able to come back
Do Marcus Lattimore’s Knee injury
You should do inky Johnson’s injury while at Tennessee with Eric berry
Would you consider doing a video about a player that is left paralyzed?
Kevin Ware’s injury?
Fat Rock Compound fracture
please no
Yep.. looks way worse than it is. Relatively speaking
I would be mainly interested in the physics of how such injuries can occur when athletes don't land properly. A similar example would be Gordon Hayward.
@@Xrayballer88 but Gordon Hayward couldn't control it because he was hit mid air and got spun around and then he landed in a twisting motion
Could you do Zach millers knee injury
Can you do a video on Michael Porter Junior ?
Thank you
Can you do Zach Miller from the Chicago Bears
Do Zach Millers injury
Hello I am a doctor...I get paid to watch the body heal itself.
Love the content.
I have a suggestion for a very non typical injury. Richard Zednik's neck injury caused by the blade of his teammate. (NHL player)
Talk about the jaylon smith injury and odds of how he came back
Please do Isaiah Thomas
isn't the tibial artery more medial to tibial vein in popliteal fossa?
I find it annoying that the CB literally just dives and headbutts Milton’s knee. It’s like he was trying to injure Milton
he is big gay
That profile pic would be lit with a Knicks hat or coat on instead
@ClevelandGOAT was in college
more like the plays happen fast and they went for a tackle and hit low and high, which usually is a bad thing for the player being hit.
Please talk about Dario Scuderi injury¡
You should do Tyler Ennis injury
Please do the Alex Smith injury please
In general a High Ankle Sprain, like Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts both had this past season
Do Johnny Knox’s injury
Clint Malarchuk. It's a pretty straight forward injury but it'd be nice to see what the medical response to this would have been.
Lalonnm
LOLONSONZ
Can you do pg13s old injury
That’s crazy i requested this video🤔
And he came back
Can we get a update on demarcus cousins
Do Derrick Jones Jr.’s knee injury
Do Alex Smith’s injury
Marcus Lattimore next
I tore my lcl and had acl and patellar damage. This stuff isn't fun.
Milton is back out there playing. He plays for Florida state now
Shaun Livingston’s knee dislocation? More like knee distruction. Also, do Richardo Lockette’s injury or Zach Miller’s or both, please.
Tactical721 I never said he didnt... that was the first video I ever watched on this channel
Tactical721 it’s all good, have a good night/day or life
@@americanmetalhead7318 or life? Lolol
You mean more like a knee disappearing act
These videos make me scared to play sports 😂
Adnan A luckily I’m terrible at sports
The sciatic nerve splits superior to the popliteal fossa.
We have to see you do the Kevin Ware injury!
My legs felt funny the whole video
Is it just me or does this video make my knee hurt
do ryan shadier or zach miller
I watched this live and it made me sick to my stomach...
Do Inky Johnson!!!!!!
