Got an e-pm2 recently. Doesn’t cost much more but a far better camera overall. 16mp sensor with much better high iso and dynamic range, and has a touch screen and an extra FN button. Paid $150 with a kit lens, not too shabby.
I got the Olympus E-PL 3 for $70 from Japan on eBay. Came with the battery, charger, flash, and original neck strap, but no lens. Still, MFT lenses are inexpensive, and I was able to get a good lens to start with. I love the little camera.
Don’t have this one but I do have the E-PM3 and absolutely love it! I use it for street with a lumix 20mm 1.7 and it’s amazing. Also, the build quality is really premium and the AF is fast ✨
Hear me out :- A small m43 interchange lens camera , all touchscreen with only a joystick and a top mounted wheel for physical controls . Screen can flip up and down . And got a small yet powerful led flash and Ibis . The touchscreen ui could be ripped off from a android and vola we got a pocket camera that anyone can use
Can it do video at all? I’m looking for something to put vintage glass on and get 4K for under $200. 2k or any higher than 1080p raw would be ideal- and I don’t mind going DIY
😢 I guess i'm not getting the review of EPL-1. I personally thought that it was a good midfield between vintage cameras and modern ones. A good camera for people to explore vintage and modernity to see what suits their preference. Good luck brother.
The vf2, vf3 or with updated fw vf4. Vf3 is smallest. I prefer the vf2 and vf3s but the vf4 has eye sensor although it doesn't work with older cameras. Also if you can find it the pm2 has a much better sensor.
I'm pretty much a beginner, and I have an A7II I got for ~$450 that I'm pretty happy with. I use it mostly with adapted film SLR lenses, so it's all manual focus though. If you're going to get modern full frame lenses, they are quite expensive. I only have APS-C autofocus lenses for it, that I use only when I really need autofocus.
Remember that time when you said GM1 was $150? They’re asking $600 for them on eBay now 😭😭 not even Yahoo Auctions Japan is safe. EDIT: Sorry I mean $250... My fat thumbs slipped when I wrote this comment!
No, I don't actually. However, I do remember when I said I paid £200 for mine, which is around $250. I also remember stating that I got mine very cheap and more commonly they're priced between $300-400 depending on the condition. I've also just looked on eBay and I've seen a bunch going for around $400 body only. The ones listed at higher prices are either bundled with a lens (which mine wasn't) or they are the coloured variations which tend to fetch a higher price.
@@TomCalton OH YEAH, my bad! I must have mistyped 250$! I honestly had terrible luck finding a worthy GM1 deal! but I did end up dwelling into the rabbit hole of lightweight mirrorless cameras, and finding a Sony a5000 for about $150! shipping included! I'm taking some time to try it with a 7artisans pancake... and it's been good so far!
😂😂 online means seen onscreen which is only 72ppi (ok, about 100ppi in modern 32" computer screens) which still is barely 2mp. Compared to THAT 12mp is more than enough, let alone via smartphone.
bro's living in 2015 my phone screen from like 5 years ago had a PPI of 529, my 15 inch laptop made in 2019 had a 4K display which equates to a PPI of at least 280, so don't know what you're talking about... almost no modern device screens are at 100 ppi... even if they were, remember that 12 mp gives you the room to crop as necessary, to other aspect ratios inside the 4:3 box you'll get from the camera, it's not like we just post the image as is all the time
No vertical orientation sensor, which caused many users to think it was broken when they uploaded photos. Do not use this camera if you shoot vertical, biggest headache of any camera.
the screen resolution is way less so it's harder to tell if you're in focus or not, and it also makes you have to back up to focus your eyes on the screen (which can be overpowered by bright lighting situations)
@@TomCaltonhello tom I want to talk about the Sony a6400 take the camera with you to Bangkok Thailand my recommended lens aperture is f1.4 or f1.6 so good luck badass photographer
And nowwwwww it’ll cost $500
Nah the EPMs are too barebones for anyone to really craze over them
The internet should stop
Yeah cos of greedy scalping pricks, not the fault of people who recommend it
This joke is so dead
@@xXN0SK1LLZXx not a joke though
I do wish a company would try to make small cameras like this again with interchangeable lenses
Me too!
The camera has a micro four third censor, that's why the size could be small. The only brands that still using this censor are Olympus and Panasonic.
@@stereodan7180 Not really, the A5100 has more or less identical dimensions and is an APS C camera.

Love micro 4/3. All their mounts are compatible with each other so you can share your lenses with all the bodies.

Need more cameras like this, with upgraded features, and affordable price
like sending pics via bluetooth to your phone automatically…
Nice that you find good alternatives to the new expensive cameras 😊
I bought one just recently for AUD$120 and I love it. It's such a good camera

@TomCalton the cheapest working one on eBay as of now is $88.95 (USD) and it ships from Japan

Bought mine in 2017 open box and it is still fun to use.
I just wish these classic cameras came out with more future-proof batteries.
This was my first camera when I started my photography journey in 2015, the image quality is really good.
my first was a e-pm2. AF-S mode was solid. great for anything that doesnt move.
shout out to both OM and Lumix for both still maintaining the hot shoe on a camera that small (I'm looking at you sony NEX5/A5*00)
E-PM1 is one of the best camera that I ever have, and, I am still keeping it. Love it!
Do you use it a lot?
@@TomCalton Not really. I have dozen of M43 camera. I use Panasonic GX95 as the main camera for photo, and DJI OP3 for video.

I think I did a photoshoot with this!
i think next-5 or 5n would be a far better choice for a little more extra money
NEX-5 lacking Ibis.
Sony e mount lack pancake lens choices, only decent one is 20mm f2.8
But we can't afford any thanks to these steal videos

they're $1000 on eBay now because of this dude lol
bro is making old cameras expensive again.
Just buy canon eos m. Little bit expensive but bigger sensor, touchscreen. You can even shot up to 2k 12bit raw video with the help of magic lantern
Or a nex3 or 5. Same price, C frame.
I wonder how does this compare to a modern high-end smartphone camera
😂 even if you'd manage to find a comparable specificated smartphone do $80... - still better!
wish we had ebay where I live
Is A7CR suggested for beginners with 0 mirrorless camera experience? Would mainly be used for travel, personal, social media. Just for hobby.

At this point just buy an old dslr camera haha
Is that 80 bucks just for the camera, or with the lens included?
I just checked on MPB, it’s £80/~$80. Think his prices are generally pretty legit whenever I cross-reference
Sorry, I should have clarified, it's $80 for the camera only
is the video actually 1080p60fps? I've heard that it's only 1080i60 and deinterlacing will equate to 30 fps
Yeah, it's only 1080 30
Can it be used for video shooting?
that's what i'm wondering, if it's better than the GF1 I think I should switch...

Yes, but very dated. Maxes out at 1080HD. I include some examples in the full review if you wanted to skim through and check it out.
