I just saw the video of the two of them in an elevator. She was violent and out of control. He was mostly calm. I worked 9 years for the state prison system and I have worked 6 months at the county jail. The most common charges have these things associated, from most common to least common.
    1. Drug related
    2. Alcohol related
    3. Domestic violence.
Usually it's a combination of two of these or all of them. I would bet it's also true for this case. If we could fix these problems in society, jails and prisons would mostly disappear. Lives would not be lost, or wasted doing time in prison.

But even with all that, we have to deal with their poor upbringing, mental health issues, and addiction that sometimes takes them right back out! It literally DOES take a village to combat part of the problem!!!

    • @pup9892
      @pup9892 2 года назад +5

@@springfauna1465 At times I feel some people are unfixable. When a person feels like they are not broke or don't want to be fixed, what can we do? I have had conversation with a man that has cycled through my jail more than. 20 times in the past 40 years. He is homeless, an alcoholic, and a drug addict. He has told me he has chose his lifestyle, and doesn't want it any other way. He says he shouldn't be in jail because he has never hurt anyone. He is just living the life style he chooses. And he is correct. He has never been charged with a violent crime. The only answer I have for him, is that you know drugs are illegal. This man will never accept help because he feels like he doesn't need it. I have come to the conclusion, that people in these groups are a permanent social class. As a society we have to learn to manage the situation. It's a balance between what is best for them, and what is best for society. It's so complex, that's why I feel we haven't found an answer. Also, it's imbalanced. They are a class that normally contributes nothing back into society, and takes a large amount of the assets, such as policing, jail space, county funded homeless shelters and drug rehab. The best society can hope for is to give them the minimum amount of services to survive. They will not fill a job that's open, or pay taxes. They will not attend jury duty, or volunteer. Maybe that's why fixing the entire problem is complex. Only one side holds all the chips in the game. If you have nothing, you have nothing to lose.

I continually witnessed my mother's physical attacks on my father who was never violent towards her or anyone, while my mother physically attacked me, maids, and others who "angered" her. Female violence on men who would never strike women covered up by female lies seems must be addressed. Thanx.

@@DMONEY2000 the purpose wasn’t to share a story, but to offer an example of the state of mind people can slip into when in a state of panic. Personal stories are the most absorbable way to share information. Beyond that, the entire point is to offer an alternative possibility. Sure, when we’re looking at statistics, personal stories have no bearing on the current statistics. It doesn’t negate the findings or conclusion just bc you had a different experience. (Ie just bc you eat ice cream in winter time, or don’t eat it in summer, it doesn’t negate that the fact is that I’ve cream sales tend to increase during summer. It’s irrelevant)
But in a court of law, it’s different. You’re factoring in if there is most likely no other possible explanation for the evidence provided, in the way it’s provided . And in that case, individual stories absolutely do have bearing. If this case of state of California vs blah blah had a person where it looked similar but it was discovered that the defendant was not guilty in that case , and perhaps evidence later came out that even proved that, then that does change the trajectory of the current case. It is reasonable doubt.

Even if the other has moved out; the relationship can be saved [if the relationship isn't toxic, it may be savable]. She tells the reader [the one who is interested in rescuing the relationship] to avoid calling the other at all costs. She tells the reader to make a list of the top ten things you would be doing if you were not all consumed and worried about the relationship; then do them.
To be honest; it was very powerful and she moved back in after I stopped calling her. We did have two kids in school afterall, so I was the single dad there for awhile. I realized at some point that she was the toxic one and I decided I was better off without her, and she didn't want anything to do with our kids.
I think the reason I wanted her back was simply because she rejected me, and that was a powerful move against my ego. She went on to marry 4 more times [and cheated on all of them]. I remarried once to my wife now for over 18 years and we are faithful to one another.

Before, you were married super young and often without any say by the woman. Then women were trapped, no matter how toxic the relationship was.
Divorce rates are high because now that women can work and support themselves and leave, they simply don’t tolerate the bs they were forced to, before.
Marriages were not happier and more fulfilling before. At least not for the trapped spouses.
Once you live together you may as well get married, though. It is difficult to separate once you take that step, so might as well date until you’re ready to get married and have kids.

She didn't have to kill him; why not end the relationship, it was obvious they weren't compatible? When the police are called in a lot of domestic violence situations in Los Angeles, the first time they are given a warning that if they are called back again someone goes to jail; as an apartment manager I've seen it happen and that certainly curbed the violence and they ended the relationship and moved out soon after that. Fortunately it has only happened 3 times in thirteen years. It sounds like they could have benefitted from couple's counseling but you have to be ready to do the work and be painfully honest to bring about change, unfortunately a lot of people are more interested in being right rather than working things out!

If indeed Toby was a bully who as claimed by Courtney abused her all the time, then how on earth did she summon the courage to beat a bully in the elevator when they were alone. If toby was that bad, a bully would’ve punched her when she continued hitting him. One might argue that he might’ve been aware of the camera in the elevator, but if you know an aggressor, you’d know that they cannot stop themselves when that mood kicks in. According to the district attorney, she walked to the kitchen area and got the knife, if Toby was choking her, how did she get the knife? If Toby was choking her, then stop, he must’ve seen her go to the kitchen area to get the knife. Toby would’ve run out the apartment cuz you’re no match against someone with a knife. According to the district attorney, Toby got home with a sandwich he bought for both of them, then an argument, then she called her mom for 6 minutes, then immediately called her mom again for little over 7 minutes. It was believed that Toby was already stabbed but she first called her mom. On the phone, it was heard that Toby was saying he was dying and all she was saying was I’m sorry baby. If she had called 911 immediately after stabbing him, there might’ve been a chance but she waited. By the way, she said she threw the knife 10ft away from Toby which went 3in into Toby’s chest, what kinda lie is that?
Then again, Toby died of a single stab wound to the chest which suggest that he was either sleeping or caught off guard. Toby was a good sized man and the lady Courtney have a little stature. If Courtney was actually being choked, how did she stab Toby just once because Toby would’ve tried blocking her attacks with his hand which should lead to multiple cuts in his hand before the stabbing. There’s no way for her to stab the aggressive Toby on the chest when he was aggressive. If she had the knife on her, then it’d be premeditated.

Drinking & DV seems to go hand & hand. Police reports on him for any DV. If she had a knife then she broke free, not in heat of the moment, doesn’t seem like self defense!! She had history of DV in other relationships. She just lucked out & stabbed him in his heart . I would like to know about his past partners. Thanks for the share Dr. Grande

I thought the exact same thing about the knife. When someone is being choked how likely would a knife be in reach? It wouldn't So if she had time to run into the kitchen to retrieve a knife she should have been able to do what you said and call for help. I'm not going to give an opinion as to whether I think she is guilty or not because honestly I don't know, but I do know that the thought of stabbing someone would be unimaginable to me.

She finally has been arrested, in a rehab recovering from her PSTD issues in being victimized. Seriously. The elevator evidence speaks otherwise than her victimization. Clearly shows HER attacking him & only his attempts to keep her away in her physically abusive actions. The view of my favorite Dr here as to the use of a knife comes into play as he had gone to get food, returning with so the knife in play would make sense in choice only due to eating. I am so glad that FINALLY she may be held responsible for the gentleman’s murder. 🙏🏻 That his family will finally obtain some closure in his death? Will never bring back the loved one, but clearing the miss identification of him being the aggressor may help locate some peace. I doubt she will be convicted in the second degree murder charge? But plea it out to possibly a manslaughter charge. As the arrest was made? Her “online fame” excelled also I heard. I wonder if social media content is considered as un allowable as printed gain? As convicted offenders are not allowed to benefit financially from books etc? I wonder if social media financial income is not allowed to benefit the person as well? Just a thought, excuse my lengthy writing here? Just been following this since the beginning in April & was to the point I thought she had gotten away with the murder. Had heard she was planning a venue of profit from the “abused” venue w self empowerment content, thank goodness that she was finally charged before her advantageous plan to benefit off his murder became actionable. Some closing mentionable thoughts quickly here? As she called her mother BEFORE she called 911 & her mother told her to include the “abuse “ leading to her defense? I wonder what her experience was in growing up? Not at all in excuse, only curious as what kind of parent advises their child to play up a defense instead of hanging up immediately and calling help for the victim? Just curious. 🙏🏻💯 for justice, finally. 💔

so you only stab the person one time while they try to kill you? i doubt it. if it wouldve been selfdefense it wouldve been a whole mess of irregular stabs.
idk what happened obviously but this sounds to me like she lashed out with the knife in an argument not wanting to kill, but hurt him. Both were unlucky - when the one stab turned out to be a lethal one.
just imagine the man had some marks around his neck and would claim to have stabbed his gf in self defence. Nobody would believe him and he would be in jail faster then you can say the word "equality".

@@derstoffausdemderjoghurtis I disagree completely. If it was self defense I would think she’d stab him once with the intention to get him to stop choking her but not kill him. Whereas if she was intending to kill him I’d think she would stab him multiple times to make sure the job was done. Ultimately I think she’ll be found innocent as there just doesn’t seem to be enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she murdered him.

Well, many women (& men) do try to get out, and that results in them being murdered. So, it's much easier said than done. On its own, partying and using substances doesn’t make a murderer. Obviously if you add a history of being violent, then yes, it’s much easier to assume the worst of someone for such a crime, but just because someone parties and uses party drugs doesn’t necessarily mean they could kill someone. Just sayin 🤷🏻‍♀️
